About The Travellers

Our hearts have always been in the Rockies... Mine, as a sparky working in Alberta's oil patch in the late 70's & early 80's, my wife's when we rented a Class C in 2009 and toured between Banff and Jasper. A few years later we bought our first RV. What we're doing in Canada's capital is anyone's guess. Now, recently retired, who knows where we'll end up. Hopefully, back in the mountains.

Indian Head Campground (formerly Indian Head KOA), Indian Head, Saskatchewan

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We were put in the newer section of the park where the trees were only just planted. Some shade would have been nice but it appeared that all the sites qi5th mature trees were taken up by seasonal campers. For one night it is alright but not for an extended stay. We camped at Indian Head Campground (formerly Indian Head KOA) in a Travel Trailer.

Northwestern Tent & RV Park, Dryden, Ontario

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

The park is very clean for an older park right on the highway in Dryden but surprisingly quiet because ther ia a buffer of mature trees block most of the road noose. The owners are very helpful and friendly. Walmart just down the road and RV dealer across the street. We only stayed the one night but would definitely stay here again. We camped at Northwestern Tent & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Happy Land Campground, Kakabeka Falls, Ontario

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for two nights to rest up. The front half are park models whose residents are friendly. The rear is for the RVers and is well treed. The washrooms are separate from the showers but are both immaculate. The pool and hot tub are clean and look inviting. We were here in mid June so the park was very quiet and mostly empty. The owner is friendly but all business. Wifi seems to works well. You can hear a freight train in the middle of the night. The sound carries. We camped at Happy Land Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Wawa RV Resort and Campground, Wawa, Ontario

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is a large tired looking park but is the only one around Wawa. The pullthru sites have no sewer and barely long enough for our combined unit because we weren't going to unhook for one night. We changed our pull through for a back in site so that we could have full hookups. The owner was cooperative in that regard but there are only about ten or 12 sites like that, the rest have no sewer. Wifi at least was decent. We camped at Wawa RV Resort and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Get there early if you want a full service site. When I made the reservation for a full hookup pullthru, they neglected to say that none of the pullthru's have sewer.

Sault Ste. Marie KOA, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Access was tight. Our pullthru sight was barely long enough for our 30ft trailer and truck. It was so narrow that the firepit was two ft away from our trailer. Therefore no fire. An inexperienced rver would have difficulty. Great amenities for dogs but then they don't do the driving or paying. We camped at Sault Ste. Marie KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Five Islands Ocean Resort, Lower Five Islands, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Taken over by a pleasant and friendly new owner. The site is wide open as far as an RV park goes but if you have a site down by the Bay of Fundy, the view is spectacular when the tide goes out. Mud flats as far as the eye can see. Then it all fills up with water again about seven hours later. We camped at Five Islands Ocean Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Timberland Campground, Shelburne, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Well treed park. We were at the side closest to the river and you need to be good at backing in because the trees are tight to the site and almost up to the roadway. Make sure you have extension for your electrical it is at the very front of the site. The owners were friendly and helpful. We stayed for a few days here. We also had a freight train passing directly behind us around midnight. That's a wake up call. We couldn't use our fire pit because our one of our slides was 2 feet away. There was no parking for our truck on the site which speaks to the size of the site; maybe 40' deep at best. We camped at Timberland Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Kiwanis Oceanfront Camping, St. Andrews, New Brunswick

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park right on the Bay of Fundy at the tip of the peninsula. We were glad our site was at the back when the wind came up off the Bay. There are seasonal campers from all over Canada and the US and they were very friendly which we haven't experience at other places. We camped at Kiwanis Oceanfront Camping in a Travel Trailer.

Chignecto North Campground (Parks Canada), Fundy National Park, New Brunswick

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful heavily forested location, the sites were quite large with lots of room in between. Some easier to back into than others. We stayed for five days. Alma is the only town around for miles and is at the Bay of Fundy entrance to the park. Lots of lobster available in Alma. We camped at Chignecto North Campground (Parks Canada) in a Travel Trailer.

The town of Alma has only one gas bar and on the weekends in the summer it is packed, in the literal sense. There is no other fuel available for miles. Be forewarned.

Wesley Clover Parks Campground (formerly Ottawa Municipal Camp), Ottawa, Ontario

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for a week setting up our trailer prior to our east coast trip in 2017. The roadways to get to the sites are good but get tight in the break off circles going to the individual campsites. Being able to back up well is essential if you have a long rig (our overall length is about 50ft). It is a beautiful, heavily wooded park inside Ottawa's Greenbelt. There is access from here to the more than 800 km of bicycle paths found in the Ottawa area. We camped at Wesley Clover Parks Campground (formerly Ottawa Municipal Camp) in a Travel Trailer.

Marco Polo Land Campground, Cavendish, Prince Edward Island

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

The seasonals get the best part of the park and the travellers get the wide open field. The food at the restaurant was terrible so eat your own. It is a good place for kids if you have a seasonal site. All in all not really impressed with this park. We were there for a week and used it as a home base. We camped at Marco Polo Land Campground in a Travel Trailer.
