Deer Park Campground, Buffalo, Wyoming

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Very pretty park; well-maintained. We were allowed to pick our spot, which was backed up against a nice trail and open field. The owners and staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay again if in the area. We camped at Deer Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Crow Creek FamCamp (Military FamCamp), F. E. Warren AFB, Wyoming

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

I would rather pay more to have a well-maintained/managed park that had running water to the sites. Aside from no water hook-up (it is what it is at this in-between-time of year...), there was no camp host in May (during "off-season" when the onsite office is unmanned) to ensure new-comers had the bathroom and laundry door codes, make sure the same facilities were cleaned and serviced, and that campers followed the "rules" and respected the park. There was dog poop EVERYWHERE, and people parked on the grass with big horse trailers & RVs. At the time of our visit, the park was at over 50% capacity. Other suggested fixes: fill potholes in the roadways, trim tree branches (we got scrapes on our roof despite being careful), place dog stations around the property, clean the laundry room and bathrooms regularly, and have a guest packet with info upon check-in with Outdoor Rec. Incidentally, if you're rig is over 13' with A/C units, you will need to use the BX/commissary route or the last left exit past the Fam Camp sign from Gate 1, in order to avoid the low underpasses of 11'6'. Know that the train is very nearby and that various aircraft fly overhead, so you're not surprised by the disruption. We camped at Crow Creek FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Platte River RV & Campground, Glenrock, Wyoming

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This park would have been adequate if I did not have such a bad experience with the owner's huge Doberman knocking me down. It was OK for a one night stay during ordinary circumstances. For the amount of land, the dog park was very small, and there were few trash cans for dog waste. All I can say is beware of dog if you come here. We camped at Platte River RV & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Peregrine Pines FamCamp (Military FamCamp), US Air Force Academy, Colorado

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Nice, heavily treed campgrounds, both east and west sides. Pretty, but not many sites accommodate a dish for TV reception. Wifi boxes can be rented for $5 per day, but have a very finite amount of data and will stop working. This would have been a fine enough stay if the staff weren't so horrible. Both the woman I paid with and the older man I encountered a couple other times were abrupt, loud-speaking and downright rude. When I went to the office to rent a Wifi box during the already limited office hours, the woman yelled from the door that she was busy doing paperwork and to come back later. On another day I tried to get propane, and was dismissed again. Upon coming back a short time later, the man was caught trying to have the propane guy hide so he wouldn't have to help us. Wow. I'll never go back. It doesn't cost anything to extend friendly customer service, but I guess that's not a priority here, at least with these two. Oh, and they need to keep the fresh dog bags filled and receptacles emptied. We camped at Peregrine Pines FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Santa Fe Skies RV Park, Santa Fe, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy this park as well as others who have posted. It was a very dusty place (loose powdery stuff), especially having parked closer to the adjoining dirt road in the greater community, where residents drove way too fast and constantly kicked up dirt and dust. I did appreciate the walking trail, however, especially since there were adequate disposal cans and bags. The laundry wasn't great. Not a clean facility and washers are old (they lock so you can't put in fabric softener during rinse cycle and the warm cycle is ice cold). When I asked the staff what the different dryer charges were: $2, $2.50 & $3, he gave me the wrong corresponding time frames and acted like everyone knows this (perhaps they could post it in the laundry room so people wouldn't have to ask). Anyway, unless we were in a pinch, I wouldn't stay here again. We camped at Santa Fe Skies RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There are no taxis in the area! We had a breakdown and it took over 2 hours to get help. Finally got a ride from a Lyft driver.

Angel Fire RV Resort, Angel Fire, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

I would definitely consider this a 5-star RV resort. Enjoyed the special pricing and the nice, quiet time of year. When the trees leaf out the place will be even more beautiful; I would not describe this as a "parking lot" with the nice amount of space and landscaping in between the spaces. We very much enjoyed the walking trail that encircles the resort, as well as the hot tub and beautiful facilities. I would say that the washer/dryer set up is a bit tricky and not always reliable; expensive, too. A couple recommendation I'd make would be to install more pet waste disposal cans around the property, and place some benches in the dog park. Other than that I would recommend following the website directions to the resort if you have a large rig, as several approaches are very curvy/difficult. We came from the Santa Fe area using their website directions, and even then the roadways had several 25-35 mph twists and turns. I cannot close without singing the praises of the male staff member who helped us during our stay. He was very welcoming and responsive, and an absolute pleasure to engage with. We will definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped at Angel Fire RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Town & Country RV and Mobile Home Park, Roswell, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

There are 3 sections to this park: long-term RV'ers, short-term RV'ers and a mobile home park. We stayed in the short-term, newer area, which was all concrete and gravel, with a few young trees. They keep the gravel sites well-groomed. I would say this park feels very sterile. I would not want to stay longer than the 2-days we stayed. The dog park is definitely necessary due to the lack of grass or other vegetation around the sites, and we appreciated the bags and trash there. We camped at Town & Country RV and Mobile Home Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Fort Stockton RV Park, Fort Stockton, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Fine enough place to stay overnight, on the way to somewhere else. We were escorted to our site by a work camper. Our electrical post was wonky and the gravel site unlevel. We were close to the highway and could hear traffic noise all night, but for the price, I guess one can't complain. We had dinner at the cafe; it was certainly nothing to write home about (the waitress admitted that the gravies are package made - yikes). We camped at Fort Stockton RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Buckhorn Lake Resort, Kerrville, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Wow, this is a REAL resort! So exceptional that I fear we may not find as nice during most of our travels. I've never seen so many fine rigs in my life, so the secret must be out! We stayed right next to the lake in an executive back-in spot. The place was immaculate; reminiscent of the Cars movie - so cute! The staff was nice, and the office has a little country store for your convenience. Always seemed like there was some activity or another going on. Would stay again in a heartbeat. We camped at Buckhorn Lake Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Pointe RV Resort, Canyon Lake, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

Upgraded our site to a pull-through. I would say the gravel site was not very level, but it was fine. Parked across from our rig. Being close to the lake was a treat, and sunsets were fantastic. Would have been nice to have more trash cans around the walking trails; especially dog receptacles (in the dog park area, for sure). Laundry was ok; some machines a bit tired. Used the men's shower one night - that was terrible! Wifi did not work the whole week. Overall nice management, although the mgr. seems to subjectively decide your rate if you extend (no discounts of any kind otherwise), and you must pay ahead and forfeit $ if you leave early, which is pretty standard. DID NOT like having to pay for electricity at that nightly rate. Mine ended up being almost $40 for a week - no bueno! We camped at Lake Pointe RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
