Ocean Waves Campground, Waves, North Carolina

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

In fairness we arrived on the second day of the season, stayed for five days and saw no evidence that the bathrooms had been cleaned...perhaps staff was just getting geared up? The location right on the beach is very nice, great for long walks. I think the place fills up totally in peak vacation season, but in March it's quite empty, as is the whole of the Outer Banks. We camped at Ocean Waves Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Cape Hatteras lighthouse is very cool. Beaches are perfect for walking and you can run on the sidewalk safely off the road. Front office is friendly and helpful.

Fort McAllister State Park, Richmond Hill, Georgia

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a smashing location over looking the salt marshes and alive with deer and raccoons. The trees are huge and slow the breezes. The museum and fort are exceptionally well done and deserve a full visit...five stars here! The only problem is that the weekends will have been booked up to 13 months ahead, consequently you will likely get kicked out on a Friday. We camped at Fort McAllister State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Took a trip down toward Sapelo Island to see the Gullah-Gallee on the way to Darien. Very interesting and great spots for lunch in Darien...Fish House eg.

Cedar Island RV Park (formerly Driftwood Motel Restaurant & Campground, Cedar Island, North Carolina

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This park has a wonderful location, on the water and almost the beach. Lots of wildfowl, great walking and of course at the Ocracoke ferry. The restaurant looks fine, staff is fine...but the showers/toilets are a total disaster; but management assures me that a complete rebuild is to be undertaken immediately, and I'm sure it will happen. When this is done the place will deserve a full four stars. We camped at Cedar Island RV Park (formerly Driftwood Motel Restaurant & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Hidden Valley RV Park, Von Ormy, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

This place was a pleasure; and it was the hosts/owners that made it that way. Super Bowl party was low key but great fun. The location is really in the country; coyotes yipping at night, no highway noise. Pleasant walking along the creek, apparently fishing too. Thursday night bonfires are fun for a bit of mixing. I'd go back here in a minute! We camped at Hidden Valley RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

There is a Walmart 15 minutes away and the walks/runs along the San Antonio River are really nice (25minutes away)
