Asheville West KOA, Candler, North Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

The setting of this KOA is fantastic and the grounds are kept natural but well maintained. The office and pool area have recently been updated/remodeled as has a new paved road into the facility. We stayed in the B loop (which is a mixture of full hookups, tent sites, and electric/water only sites) that sits at the top of the campground. The sites themselves are slated to have additional stone put in by 2019 but even with 18+ inches of rain over 3 days, we managed to keep relatively mud free. The playground is small and more suited for young (5 years and under). We plan to stay at this campground again next year to see what further improvements have been made. We camped at Asheville West KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Diamond Caverns RV Resort and Golf, Park City, Kentucky

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in the off-season so most of the amenities were closed. The campground was very clean and had a few long-term residents but plenty of available sites. It was easy to manage our 32' travel trailer on the property and in a pull-through site. The staff seemed very friendly, and patrolled regularly. Our children had a great time playing on the playground equipment which in a sand bed. This was fortunate given the amount of rain we had but the playground drained quickly. Wifi is available from an outside vendor and we received 6 over-the-air channels (no cable available). We have Verizon cell service and which was very good. The campground is about 7 miles from Mammoth Cave. We camped at Diamond Caverns RV Resort and Golf in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Bowling Green is the closest large town (about 30 minutes drive) with several options for food, shopping. Glasgow (about 15 minutes drive) is a little smaller but has a Walmart. Kentucky Down Under is nearby and offers a fun afternoon and chance to pet kangaroos and tour a small on-site cave.
