Flagstaff KOA, Flagstaff, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

I asked for a space away from the road (Hwy 89), with trees and a view if possible. We were way in the back with trees, very quiet, and backed up to a large open field. Perfect for us! Other spots were not as ideal, too close together, no view. The comments about difficulty leveling are right on, be prepared! Office staff was young, and are seriously the only KOA people who have ever satisfied my site requests. A National Forest trail had a spur right next to our spot; wish we'd had more time. We camped at Flagstaff KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Flagstaff is a fun town with many good dog friendly places to eat and drink. Cute downtown area. The Grand Canyon is driving distance for a day trip with time for walking on the Rim Trail, checking out visitor centers and museums, and having a picnic or even lunch at the El Tovar. Sedona is also close by...if you're a cycling and/or coffee enthusiast, drop in at the Bike and Bean for advice on local rides and a great cup.

Stagecoach Stop RV Resort, Rio Rancho, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Having read previous reviews, I asked the park very nicely for a site on the view side and a premium site. For $5 extra that's what we got, a full on view of Sandia Peak on the "good end". At the other end of the row, the view is of a concrete pipe yard, not too good! The park is clean and well cared for. Sites have concrete pads, with an extra one for vehicles. Our Golden Retriever enjoyed the dog park and its numerous users. Distance from the 25 freeway means it is quiet. Good location for a exploring the entire area. We camped at Stagecoach Stop RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Walk, run or ride on the 16 mile long Bosque trail, trails in the Willow Creek area (close by) or at the Tomaya Resort. Albuquerque is very bicycle and dog friendly.

Sunny Acres RV Park (55+ park), Las Cruces, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Check in was easy, with a nice person. Laundry, which we needed after a week at state parks, was reasonably priced and clean. The park is away from loud roads, so is relatively quiet. However, as we seem to be finding too often when we stay at RV parks, there were many much nicer sites available than the one assigned to us. Our site backed up to a dilapidated fence, had mostly dead grass, and long term residents on both sides. In the middle of the park there were several vacant spots with healthy grass, trees, and what looked like short termers like us. What the heck! We made a reservation several days ahead. Why wouldn't they have given us a more desirable site? After staying in Arizona and New Mexico State parks on this trip, where we were able to select our sites from those available when we reserved and paid between $14 and $30 for large, wide and clean hookup sites, is it any wonder we continue to really dislike staying at RV parks? We camped at Sunny Acres RV Park (55+ park) in a Travel Trailer.
