Country Pines RV Park, Marshall, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is for a 50 amp FHU pull-through site near the back of the park so no road noise. This is not one of those wide open, lines of pull-through sites type of RV parks. It is more like a campground that has been built to accommodate larger rigs but still give you a feeling of camping. Lots of pine trees, friendly atmosphere, we used it for an overnight and would certainly stop here again if in the area. We camped at Country Pines RV Park in a Motorhome.

Rainbow's End - Escapees Rainbow Park, Livingston, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is for a back-in 50 FHU site. Three areas in the park, two are open, one is in the trees. Some sites are fairly level, but most require varying degrees of leveling. I agree with others about the park going downhill in the last few years, but then with the economy, many of the parks we stay at show some signs of neglect or corner cutting. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Rainbow Park in a Motorhome.

Goliad State Park, Goliad, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

One of the nicer Texas State Parks we have stayed at. We were in the pull thru section, our site was spacious, though the "curve" of the pull thru was a little tight. Other sites had much longer and flatter curves to their pull thru. There were a couple of trees at the site that gave some shade but didn't interfere with satellite reception. Easy walk to Espiritu Mission, and a short drive to the other sites in Goliad. We would stay here again. We camped at Goliad State Park in a Motorhome.

Dixieland RV Park, Carmine, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is for a 50 amp FHU pull-thru site with PA discount. Roads and pads are gravel. Long drive back to the RV sites from the highway on gravel. No shade, but that means excellent satellite reception. The restrooms were in nice condition and overall it was an excellent value for the money at the PA rate. We camped at Dixieland RV Park in a Motorhome.

Cactus RV Park (CLOSED), Tucumcari, New Mexico

Date of Stay: May, 2013 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is for a 50 amp FHU pull thru gravel site with PA discount. Sites are off to the side of an old Rt 66 motel. To get to them the lady in the office lead us back through a hole in the old motel, on a street, and finally into the RV site area. Sounds much worse than it actually was, in fact, it was fun as we didn't know where she was leading us. Good power, water pressure, and very quiet. If what you are looking for is a place to overnight without any bells and whistles, and the prices they command, this is the place. We would definitely stay here again if in the area, and we will return, because Tucumcari is a very interesting town that we didn't have time to explore this trip. We camped at Cactus RV Park (CLOSED) in a Motorhome.

Bar S RV Park, Milan, New Mexico

Date of Stay: May, 2013 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is for a 50 amp FHU pull thru site with GS discount. Interesting layout to the park. The sites are fairly narrow with pine trees on each side, but the roadways are very, very wide so that RV's of any length have no problem and never need to unhook if just staying for an overnight. Strong Verizon signals and excellent satellite reception as the placement of the pine trees offer no interference. For the money this is a great place to spend a night while traveling across I-40. We would certainly stay here again if in the area and needing to stop for the night. We camped at Bar S RV Park in a Motorhome.

Greer's Pine Shadows, Flagstaff, Arizona

Date of Stay: May, 2013 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is for a 50 amp FHU pull thru site under tall pine trees. No satellite because of the trees and no cable, but good Verizon signals. This is an older park with sites that vary in size and accessibility. Ours was a reasonably long pull thru but the RV next to us barely fit on its site and their RV was shorter than ours. What this park has going for it is value for the money compared to other nearby parks. Because of that we would stay here again. We camped at Greer's Pine Shadows in a Motorhome.

Oasis RV Resort, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2013 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is for a FHU 50 amp pull-through site with GS discount. Roads and sites paved, the concrete pad was long and level. The park is open so had excellent satellite reception. Park Wi-Fi signal was excellent. This a large park located near I-40. The access to and from the freeway is easy. We picked this park due to its proximity to Cadillac Ranch, so we only stayed for one night but it is perfect location for that. We camped at Oasis RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Ellis Lakeside Campground, Ellis, Kansas

Date of Stay: May, 2013 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

We had a 50 amp pull thru site that faced the river and was open enough that we had satellite reception. Other sites had varying degrees of shade. As others have stated, the police come around in the evening a collect payment. Easy walk to the downtown area and to the magnificent catholic church across the river. The park really is a hidden gem, and we will definitely stay here again when passing through the area. We camped at Ellis Lakeside Campground in a Motorhome.

Western Star RV Ranch, Liberal, Kansas

Date of Stay: May, 2013 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is for a 50 amp full hook up pull thru site. Gravel roads and pads. Some distance out of town and the owner comes around in the evening to collect your money. Train tracks nearby so some noise, but not excessive. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Western Star RV Ranch in a Motorhome.

Huber Park, Borger, Texas, Borger, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2013 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Twenty/30 amp electric only back-in sites in a large paved area marked with painted lines next to a city street. Payment is by donation, with a three day limit. There is a dump station and fresh water fill available. This no frills park is a great option if you want to stay in Borger rather than out at Lake Meredith if visiting the Borger/Phillips area. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Huber Park, Borger, Texas in a Motorhome.

Palo Duro Canyon State Park, Canyon, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2013 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is for a back-in water and electric only site, roads and site were paved. Site was level. Very steep entrance road down into the canyon, but once in the canyon it is an experience that is awe inspiring. It is so quiet at night, but our night wildlife cam proved we weren't alone. Wonderful hikes abound, make sure to hike to the Lighthouse if you are able, and also fit. This is an example of what State Parks should be. We would definitely stay here again, especially in the off season when there are fewer people. We camped at Palo Duro Canyon State Park in a Motorhome.

Scaddan Wash - BLM, Quartzsite, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2012 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

Free boon dock area on the east side of Quartzsite. Exit on the east side of town, go south to the stop sign, turn left and follow the road back around to where it parallels I-10. Great place to overnight when traveling through the area or for longer stays during the winter season (14 day limit). No facilities available, but you get what you pay for. Only negative is I-10 truck noise if you stay near the front. We camped at Scaddan Wash - BLM in a Motorhome.

Imperial Dam BLM LTVA, Yuma, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2012 - $3.00
Overall Rating:

This is our favorite California Arizona BLM LTVA, a get away from it place between Yuma and Quartzsite. The topography here is different from the other LTVA's in the area as it is bisected with deeper washes, gullies and in some places, something akin to canyons. It has a large dump station and fresh water station, plus filtered water, propane and a post office are nearby. It is a "find a spot and park" place where you can be with others or off by yourself as you choose. We enjoyed the semi-organized hikes that take place, though you can be a loner if you want and hike to some great back country areas. Many people seem to come year after year, yet newcomers are readily accepted. This is a great place to spend a few days, weeks or months during the winter. 2012 cost was $40 for a two week permit. We camped at Imperial Dam BLM LTVA in a Motorhome.

BLM - La Posa Long Term Visitor Area, Quartzsite, Arizona

Date of Stay: January, 2012 - $3.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed at both the La Posa North and La Posa South LTVA's. This is desert boondocking in a gravel desert area. The north LTVA is close to the vendor area, while the south LTVA has the water and dump stations. The number of RV's here during the show weeks in late January is awesome, making it one of those, you have to do it at least once in your RV life type of happenings. The areas are so huge you can park in a crowd or go out to where you are pretty much by yourself as there are no defined sites, you just park wherever you want. Just be forewarned that there will be wind and there will be dust. We camped at BLM - La Posa Long Term Visitor Area in a Motorhome.
