Canyon Vistas RV Resort (55+ park), Gold Canyon, Arizona

Date of Stay: January, 2012 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is the Passport America rate for 50 amp full hookup back-in site in the transient area. Very large park with activities, however the transient section is far from the areas where the activities are held, plus it is near a very, very busy highway with much noise. The long term sites are further from the highway and closer to the activities, making it better suited for longer stay snowbirds than short term transients. The PA rate makes it a reasonable bargain and is the only reason we would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Canyon Vistas RV Resort (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Pancho Villa State Park, Columbus, New Mexico

Date of Stay: December, 2011 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is daily rate for 30 amp electric and water pull thru site. Dump station available in the park. Sites are large with desert landscaping so they are open, but have a shade structure over the table which is on a concrete pad. Roads and sites are gravel and dirt. Motorhomes may want to disconnect their toad before entering or exiting as they will get dusty if left hitched up. Close to Palomas, Mexico where there are dentists, opticians, and a pharmacy, as well as the famous Pink Store which is a must stop. We have stayed here several times and will again in the future. We camped at Pancho Villa State Park in a Motorhome.

Rainbow's End - Escapees Rainbow Park, Livingston, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2011 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is for a 50 amp FHU back-in site and includes our cost for the metered electric. Roads paved, sites gravel with grass. Home park for the Escapees, has many activities. Good Verizon cell and 3G reception. Some areas have trees that may interfere with satellite reception. We would stay here again. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Rainbow Park in a Motorhome.

Lone Star Corral - Escapees Park (members only), Hondo, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2011 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is SKP daily rate for a 50 amp full hookup, back-in site, electric extra. (which has been added to the base daily rate for this review) Paved roads and pads, all sites are back-in with escort to site. Very few trees, so excellent satellite reception. Good Verizon cell and 3G signals. Numerous activities and very friendly people as is typical at all Escapee parks. Mobile RV tech located in the park if you need service on your rig. We would stay here again. We camped at Lone Star Corral - Escapees Park (members only) in a Motorhome.

Colorado Landing, La Grange, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2011 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is daily rate for a 50 amp FHU pull thru site with PA discount. Roads concrete, sites gravel. Some trees which may interfere with satellite reception depending on the site. Good Verizon cell and 3G reception. This was once a mobile park, and the office is at the very back of the park and is reached via an old concrete park road that isn't bad if you go slow. Walking path along the river was a nice break from the usual need to walk park roads to get some exercise. The biggest problem and the reason for the rating is that the access to the pull thru sites is lined with railroad ties and very large rigs may have a problem with that. It is park we would definitely return to should we be in the area. We camped at Colorado Landing in a Motorhome.

Hilltop RV Park, Fort Stockton, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2011 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is daily rate for 50 amp FHU pull through site. All surfaces, the roads, sites and areas between seem to be composed of the the natural ground surface. Being as to where it is in West Texas, grass is not something to be found. Escort to site. Excellent satellite reception with not a tree in the area. Good Verizon cell and 3G. Park WiFi was very fast and reliable for our overnight stay when the park was full. On the far west side of Fort Stockton, so if coming from the east, get fuel before arriving, or you will be heading back into town when you leave to fuel up. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Hilltop RV Park in a Motorhome.

Betty's RV Park, Abbeville, Louisiana

Date of Stay: December, 2011 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is daily rate for FHU 50 amp back-in site with Escapees discount. Everything is gravel, the sites are fairly tight, but then there is Betty and the nightly get together, and suddenly the physical limitations of the park don't really matter. If you look for all the amenities in a park, or are not a socializes it probably isn't for you, but if you want the unique experience of Betty's Louisiana hospitality, you'll enjoy it. We would definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped at Betty's RV Park in a Motorhome.

Southern Oaks Mobile Home & RV Community, Gulfport, Mississippi

Date of Stay: November, 2011 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is daily rate for FHU 50 amp pull thru site with PA discount. Roads and pads were paved, but as mentioned in other reviews, watch out for the speed bumps. Grass areas between wide open sites. Good satellite and Verizon cell and 3G reception. Away from the Interstate so it is quiet, yet there is an abundance of great shopping nearby making it a great place to either do a little R&R, or get your shopping fix. Yes there are mobile homes in the park which is slowly being converted into an RV park, but all are in good condition, with the area around each clean and well maintained. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Southern Oaks Mobile Home & RV Community in a Motorhome.

Rainbow Plantation - Escapees Rainbow Park , Summerdale, Alabama

Date of Stay: November, 2011 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is daily rate for a FHU 50 amp back-in site with metered electric (have added our electric cost into the the rate) based on Escapee discount. Roads paved, sites, all of which are back-in, are on sandy grass with trees at most sites, and can accommodate the largest rigs. Good satellite reception even with the trees as sites are open to the north and south. Verizon cell reception was so so as we experienced several dropped calls, yet smartphone internet searches were very fast and reliable. Typical Escapees friendliness and scheduled activities. It's a little out of the way, but we would definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped at Rainbow Plantation - Escapees Rainbow Park in a Motorhome.

Fort Pickens Campground, Pensacola, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2011 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is daily rate for a 50 amp water back-in site with senior pass discount. Roads and pads paved, but length of many of the sites limits the number suitable for big rigs. Best to check the campground website and satellite view if you have never been there before. Good Verizon 3G and cell reception. We would stay here again. We camped at Fort Pickens Campground in a Motorhome.

Wills Creek RV Park, Fort Payne, Alabama

Date of Stay: November, 2011 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is for a FHU 50 amp pull-through site based on the weekly rate. Gravel roads with the sites having grass between them. Sites are adequate enough that one does not have to unhitch, and there are no trees to interfere with satellite reception. Verizon cell was somewhat spotty, but 3G was good. Wi-Fi requires parking near the office. Not much to do at this park, and bathrooms are some distance from RV sites. This is good overnight park, that served us well during our week of visiting the many sights and attractions in the area. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Wills Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.

Fort Chiswell RV Park, Max Meadows, Virginia

Date of Stay: November, 2011 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is daily rate for 50 amp FHU pull through site with GS discount. Paved entrance road is well marked with signs as to where to turn from the highway. Older section has trees, newer is more open. Pull through sites are assigned by length of RV: ours was long enough we did not need to unhook toad. Restrooms were modern, though there are only curtains in the shower area rather than doors. Excellent Verizon cell and 3G reception, park Wi-Fi is very fast. This is great park to relax at after a hard days travel on the Interstates, and I have to echo the other reviews regarding how accommodating the owners of the park are. We will definitely stay here again if traveling through the area. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Bull Run Regional Park, Centreville, Virginia

Date of Stay: November, 2011 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is daily rate for a 50 amp FHU pull through site with no discount. The only discount is a $2 discount for residents of the county, current rates can be seen at the park's website. A long drive from the main highway results in a get away from it all park. Paved roads, gravel sites, not all of which are level. Our utilities were on the correct side, but we saw other with them on the wrong side, as well sites that were very non-level. Also the shooting range does provide some daily background noise. On the plus side, the water is the best we have ever tasted and we were told it was spring water. The noise from the shooting range reminded us of the horrible battles that took place nearby during the Civil War. It was close to the area attractions and the price was comparable to other parks in the area. We could get satellite reception and we noted many others doing the same. Verizon cell and 3G were also excellent. On balance, we would definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC), College Park, Maryland

Date of Stay: November, 2011 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is for FHU 50 amp back-in site with GS discount. Three check-in lanes, multiple people in the office, coded security gate. Paved roads, gravel pads with grass between sites. They try to assign you to a site that will accommodate the size of rig you have, but being as full as they are, it may not always be possible. We did have plenty of room for our coach and toad in our site. Good satellite reception. Verizon cell and 3G coverage excellent. The bus stop inside park is worth its weight in gold. Even though it is pricy, it is still a good value for the money. We will definitely stay here again when in the area. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Motorhome.

Artillery Ridge Campground, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: October, 2011 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is for 50 amp FHU back-in site with a combination of PA and GS discounts for a week stay. Roads are combination of paved and gravel, sites gravel. This is a park in a destination locality, so park is large and seems to have grown randomly, so there is a wonderful mix of different types of sites. There are even a section for horse trailers with corrals nearby. Satellite reception depends on you location in park, excellent Verizon cell and 3G. Park has Wi-Fi, but appears to be undersized for the users, as speeds are slow to very slow. Park has many activities, including horse tours of the National Park. A very convenient location for spending time in Gettysburg as it is very close the Battlefield Visitor Center. Good value of the money with the discounts, and we would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Artillery Ridge Campground in a Motorhome.
