Evergreen Lake Park, Conneaut, Ohio

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

We originally picked this park because they offered an on-site Sunday church service, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Only a small group of campers participated, but we got to know them well and were happy to have had this opportunity to meet like-minded people. The park staff were friendly and helpful, as were most of the seasonal residents. Our utilities were located on the wrong side, but we had long cords and hoses, so this was not a problem. There were other spaces with proper hookups available, so I'm sure we could have switched spots if we had needed to. All in all, this was one of our all-time favorite parks and we definitely plan to return. We camped at Evergreen Lake Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There are more than a dozen covered bridges nearby. The Conneaut beach is great for swimming. There are Friday night dirt track races at Raceway 7, around 7 miles south of the park. $10.00 entrance fee - cheap concession stand. Very exciting, but be prepared to have your vehicle and yourselves covered in dust. Not a bad seat in the stands, but near the track on the east side is the most exciting. D-day reenactments on beach in August.

Camp Bell Campground, Campbell, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This park provides many well-maintained amenities including a large pool, horseshoe pits, an arcade, a large playground, etc. The staff are friendly and helpful. We were not able to use our Passport America pass because it was a race weekend, but it was still good value with our Good Sam pass. We were disappointed to discover that there was a dumping fee. Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this park and would certainly return. We camped at Camp Bell Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Kampfires Campground, Inn and Entertainment, Dummerston, Vermont

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

This park provided amazing value for the money (especially with the PA discount). The sites were spacious. They had a large pool and playground. We took advantage of their extensive book and DVD exchange. Their ice cream and beer are a bit expensive, but the quality and selection are great. The park has many mature trees, but we didn't have any mosquitoes at our site. The utilities worked well. The showers and bathroom stalls were clean and above average in size. The only minor issue we had was some puddling around our truck and trailer during a heavy downpour, but it had mostly drained away by the next morning. We would definitely return to this park. We camped at Kampfires Campground, Inn and Entertainment in a Travel Trailer.

Timberland Campground, Shelburne, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a heavily-wooded, natural park, yet it still has many amenities and is well-maintained. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a nice walking trail along the river. The mosquitoes were not too bad; we went for a half hour hike (without repellent - late afternoon on the last day of July) and swatted a number of them, but did not get bit. The park is very quiet and peaceful. Showers are a reasonable price at $0.25 per 4 minutes. We would definitely return to this park. We camped at Timberland Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Bar Harbor Campground, Bar Harbor, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a heavily wooded park that has a real state park feel to it. We opted for a back-in site because of the space and privacy it afforded. It turned out to be a bit far from the restrooms, but we were quite happy with the restrooms. They were exceptionally clean for a park with this many occupants. The park was peaceful and quiet. No traffic noise and no noisy neighbors. The utilities worked well. We also liked that we were able to select our own site. We plan to return to this park. We camped at Bar Harbor Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Acadia National Park is breathtakingly beautiful. There are many amazing hiking and biking opportunities. Cadillac Mountain is the highest point along the North Atlantic seaboard. Apparently, the view is spectacular on a clear day. We went on a foggy day and still enjoyed the winding road up (having unhooked our trailer). I don't think they allow RV's on this mountain road.

Dixon's Coastal Maine Campground, Cape Neddick, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This park charged a bit more than we are usually willing to pay, but it was well worth it. The park is a beautiful and well-maintained. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The restrooms and showers are exceptionally clean. They do charge $0.50 per 5 minutes for the showers, but the cleanliness and privacy make it worth the cost. We would definitely return to this park. We camped at Dixon's Coastal Maine Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Boston / Cape Cod KOA, Middleboro, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

This is a really nice, well-organised park. The staff were very friendly and we had no problem changing our reservation to an earlier date when we found ourselves ahead of schedule. The interior roads are in great shape. Our site was slightly sloped, but it was easy to level. They have many mature trees and many amenities. It seems like a great place to take kids. The only thing we didn't like was the relatively high price. We camped at Boston / Cape Cod KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Fla-Net Park, Flanders, New Jersey

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

The park is very picturesque with a pond and a beautiful stream running through it. The showers and restrooms were clean, but they're a bit rustic and tired. It would be nice if the bathroom stalls were a bit larger. Some parts of the dirt road were badly eroded by recent rainfall, which left deep depressions that we had to maneuver around. Regardless of these issues, we would probably return to this park because of its beautiful location and its friendly staff. We camped at Fla-Net Park in a Travel Trailer.

Hagerstown / Antietam Battlefield KOA, Williamsport, Maryland

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

As an older couple, we did not get as much value out of this park as a young family might. We had a very small back-in spot that was fairly far from the restrooms. Families with young children would probably enjoy this park more because of the nice pool, the movies and the animals (e.g., goats, chickens, etc.). It looks like there might also be good fishing down by the river. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We camped at Hagerstown / Antietam Battlefield KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We visited the Antietam Battlefield site. The movie they show in the Visitor's Center was very informative, as was the talk given on the second floor by one of their rangers. The self-guided driving tour also worked well for us.

Spring Valley Campground, Cambridge, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

The staff were very friendly and the park was clean. It's too bad we didn't arrive earlier because there seemed to be lots to do around the park. It looks like they have a nice hiking/biking trail and a nice pool. All the utilities worked fine at our site, and we found the park to be quiet and peaceful. Good value for the money. We would definitely come again. We camped at Spring Valley Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Cincinnati South Campground, Crittenden, Kentucky

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of our favorite parks. We do not agree with the previously posted negative reviews. Yes, there is some traffic noise, but we did not find it to be excessive and it was almost completely drowned out by the white noise of our air conditioner. We enjoyed sitting outside of our trailer and reading. It is quite peaceful. The trains during the day are loud, but we didn't hear any at night (maybe we slept through them, or maybe the schedules have changed since the negative reviews were posted). The park is beautiful with many mature trees. It has a KOA feel to it and we were told that it was the second KOA in the USA. However, it is now independent, and it is cheaper than any similar KOA we've ever stayed at. The management are very friendly and the utilities all worked fine. We stayed a day longer than we had originally planned, and we would certainly return to this park and recommend it to our friends. We camped at Cincinnati South Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tanbark Campground, Dickson, Tennessee

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This park provides outstanding value for the money (especially with a Passport America pass). The staff are very friendly and helpful. Our site was level. The restrooms were clean, although a bit rustic and tired looking. The washroom stalls were a bit small. We did not see a lot of amenities, but we don't usually use them anyway, so it didn't matter to us. We did not have cable, but the air reception was good. The park was quiet and peaceful. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return. We camped at Tanbark Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

The lady at the registration desk was very friendly and helpful. The site was level and spacious. All the hookups worked well. The restrooms were clean. We were at first concerned that there might not be enough showers, but no one else seemed to be using them, so it worked out fine for us. We did not hear any traffic noise and the camp was very quiet. We would definitely return to this park. We camped at Hinton RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Cahokia RV Parque, Cahokia, Illinois

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Check-in was easy, but the price was a bit high for what they offered. We liked that the park was close to town, but the sites were a bit small and a bit close together. We did not have a cable connection, but air reception was good. The water pressure in the showers was also a bit low. Otherwise, everything was OK. The site was level. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the park was quiet and provided a good launching point for our trip to St. Louis. We camped at Cahokia RV Parque in a Travel Trailer.
