Indian Lake State Park, Manistique, Michigan

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed at Indian Lake State Park one night for the last night of a week dry camping in National and State campgrounds in the upper peninsula of Michigan. The Campground wasn't very busy and we had a choice of many beautiful sites. It was easy to move around with the trailer and the site we picked was amazingly level. Easy hook up to the 30 amp and to my better half's delight we had all the comfort of home. The park was extremely clean and the employees seemed to be glad the camping season was winding down. We camped at Indian Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Interlochen State Park, Interlochen, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Weather was beautiful, perfect northern Michigan summer days and nights. Park was about 2/3rds full when we arrived on a Monday and very close to full when we left on Thursday. Our site was on the west side of the north loop so we could walk to Interlochen Music Camp to listen to the Beach Boys who were in concert Tuesday night. We had two sites and many other sites were groups also. With all the activity the park was clean including the bathrooms and showers. Camp host area had a library and had outdoor equipment that you could use by just signing your name. Beautiful inland lakes for swimming, boating, and kayaking. This State park is only 20 minutes away from our house but a favorite for out of town family and friends so we camp here a couple times a year. You always feel welcomed when you stay at Interlochen State Park. We camped at Interlochen State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Hartwick Pines State Park, Grayling, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We camped three nights in Hardwick Pines State Park and found it to everything we hoped it would be. The trails through the old growth white pines is informative and breathtaking. The collection of buildings, tools, and other history artifacts will be an interest for all ages. Schools from around the state had made the journey for the end of school year field trip. The visitor center is beautiful and a nice place to finish the day after being outdoors. The campground was moved to its current location in 1994 and has full hook up for a number of sites which is a rare accommodation for a Michigan State Park. All the remaining sites are considered modern which had blacktop parking for your RV and 30 amp and 110 hookup. The park is very clean including the modern bathroom with showers. The camp host is around and very accessible. It seemed to be a great family park and with it's easy proximity to Michigan's larger population (an easy three to four hour drive) it filled up by the weekend. The area provides many hiking, and bike trails with a new 6.5 mile trail into the small town of Graying. The State of Michigan DNR has a field office just outside of the park that can provide additional natural information. The Ausable river and it's tributaries offer trout fishing and floating opportunities. The only issue everyone should be aware of is the Grayling (Crawford county) area provide training for the military and occasionally the quietness might be disrupted by the sounds of artillery and rapid gun fire. We camped at Hartwick Pines State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Fox Ridge State Park, Charleston, Illinois

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed at Fox Ridge State Park one night. We stayed at Fox Ridge on our last night after a two week camping adventure. There was only a couple of other campers in the park so it was very quiet. We explored the park and even hiked down to Embarras River. Beautiful park and the campsites are large and shaded. Must of had issues with campers and alcohol as there are signs prohibiting alcohol in most of the park including the campgrounds. Overall Fox Ridge provided a peaceful relaxing overnight stay. We camped at Fox Ridge State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Willow Beach COE, Scott, Arkansas

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed at Willow Beach one night in a 22 foot travel trailer. The campground is right on the Arkansas River. The sites are large and well maintained. During our stay the restroom/shower was being replaced and you needed to use the facilities at the other end of the park in the picnic area. The whole park is well taken care of and we reserved our site on line and received the American the Beautiful discount. Takes a little time to find off the expressway but well worth it if your looking for a beautiful quiet place to stay. We camped at Willow Beach COE in a Travel Trailer.

Magnolia Forest RV Park, Magnolia, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed at Magnolia Forest RV Park for four night during the time we visited family in the area. The park is a mixture of transient, seasonal, and permanent residents. Very nicely laid out with a lot of green space to walk your dog(s) including a large gated dog park. They even provide doggie stations with bags and garbage cans. Had the family over a couple of evening which included a campfire in the open park like area next to the pond. From the time you arrive at this gated park the hosted are eager to help with any questions you might have. Each site has a level concrete pad and our site had a nice wooden deck area. The fresh water and sewage hook ups were very convenient and the WiFi was adequate. If your looking for a worry free location this is it. We will stay here again the next time we are in the area visiting family. We camped at Magnolia Forest RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

South Llano River State Park, Junction, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed at South Llano River State park one night. Made reservation for our overnight stay in route to visit family in the Houston area. When we made are reservations we were not assigned a campsite which was a concern. When we arrived the park office was closed but to our pleasant surprise the campground entrance was manned by very helpful and dedicated camp host. We were directed to take a stroll around the park and if a site was open that we liked just stop back and let them know our camp site. The camp host was very helpful with information and even had suggestions for our travels the next day from the campground into the Houston area. The park is recommended for people that enjoy bird watching and this park has available it's own field checklist. This park is also a international dark sky site and we were blessed with a clear evening the night we stayed. Had plenty of area to walk the dogs and even visited the river so they could take a swim. Had Armadillo's visit the campsite after dark which was a real treat since we don't have them where we live. Overall a great place to relax and unwind with great camp host to boot. We camped at South Llano River State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Oliver Lee Memorial State Park, Alamogordo, New Mexico

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed at Oliver Lee Memorial Campground one night. During our trip to White Sands National Monument we stumbled onto this beautiful campground with the campsites located on the side of the mountain. There was no way we would of guess this park would be so beautiful and remote. It sites were tucked so neatly into a winding road that took you from top to the bottom of the park. It might be intimidating for some with large rigs. The park office was closed when we arrived which was too bad for gathering additional information on the park. The trails around the campsites were well marked and allowed for short self guided journeys. The dump station was under construction and closed with an alternative site back in town. We camped at Oliver Lee Memorial State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed one night in a 22 foot travel trailer. Very interesting, a must stop just so you can claim you did. The restored travel trailer collection as you enter the park is beautiful. The park is clean and has a nice area for walking the dogs. Quiet except for the big rigs on I40. We camped at Enchanted Trails RV Park & Trading Post in a Travel Trailer.

Lost Dutchman State Park, Apache Junction, Arizona

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed at Lost Dutchman as we visited family in the area. Because of the extreme danger of wildfire there was a ban on any outdoor fires. Daytime temperatures were in the 100 degree range each day but the nights cooled off enough to have the windows open to enjoy the fresh air. Area was well maintained and employee's were very helpful. Stayed in site 100 which is in the first loop and is a moderate walk to the restroom/shower. We camped in a 22 foot travel trailer We camped at Lost Dutchman State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Bobcat Creek RV Park, LLC, Sayre, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed at Bobcat Creek RV Park one night. Arrived in the evening and the owner met us at our site to make sure everything was right with our stay. Very accommodating and committed owners which is always nice to see. Later that evening The owner was out mowing some of the lawn area away from the camp sites. Great place to spend a quick night on the road and very easy on and off the highway. This campground offers no showers or restroom but does offer laundry. Meramec Valley Campground, Cuba, Missouri

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed May 3rd for one night. Showed up at the gate and was let right in and met at the office to get checked in. Older park and it was obvious that the rush was on to get it ready for their busy season. Some of the park looked to have suffered from the rains this spring. Easy pull through and hook up to power, water and sewage. Since it was early in their season we were one of the few staying in this large RV park. Great spot to walk the dogs and very quiet. We camped at Meramec Valley Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Ferne Clyffe State Park, Goreville, Illinois

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed on May 2nd for just one night. It rained but it couldn't take away from the spring beauty of the park. Never came in contact with any employees, but the site was marked reserved and ready when we arrived. Water taps to fill tank and a dump station. Would consider coming back and staying longer. Stayed in site 45 in north loop with a 22 foot trailer. We camped at Ferne Clyffe State Park in a Travel Trailer.
