Buccaneer State Park, Waveland, Mississippi

Date of Stay: September, 2010 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Loved coming back to Buccaneer. Everything was very nice. 2011 the water park, pool and store are supposed to be up and running. Ranger rode through the park often. Enjoyed our stay and will be back. Bath house is new, however it is not air conditioned or heated but that didn't bother me at all. Very nice park can't wait to go back and planning on going back at Thanksgiving. We camped at Buccaneer State Park in a Travel Trailer.

River View RV Park & Resort, Vidalia, Louisiana

Date of Stay: July, 2009 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park, right on MS river. Friendly staff, nicely stocked little store. The roads leading to sites is gravel and somewhat dusty but not too bad. Some sites are concrete; some are grass, all are nice. Some are very shady and some are in sun (which will be good for winter trips). Easy access to Natchez, MS where there is great historic places to visit. Would recommend "Cock of the Walk" restaurant in Natchez and be sure to visit the little shop next door. All in all great CG. My only complaint is that the pool is too small for the park. Everything else is really nice and pleasant. I would recommend this CG. There is also a "riverwalk" that is nice for night strolls. We camped at River View RV Park & Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Lafayette KOA, Scott, Louisiana

Date of Stay: October, 2008 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

We were on site 155 which is right at the interstate. The noise level was so high that at 3:30 a.m. I was wide awake! The CG itself is nice but not a place to go to rest too much noise; even during the day all you hear is the interstate. I rated this CG a year ago and HAD to stay here again for my husband's job. I would suggest getting a site in the back as far back as you can go. They are overpriced. Seems my rating is same as others, too close spots, too noisy, too pricey. Although nice, I'm thinking someone needs to open another CG in Lafayette! We camped at Lafayette KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts Yogi on the Lake, Pelahatchie, Mississippi

Date of Stay: July, 2008 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Fun! Fun! Fun! We stayed an entire week here for our vacation. Always something fun and exciting to do. They give "Activity Sheets" each day to let you know what is going on. Samples of activities are: sand art, movies every night at dark, raising the flag and pledge of Allegiance with Yogi, hayride with Yogi and much much more. The water park and swimming pool area is the best! There is a "cartoon cafe" where you can get a nice cool drink and snack. Nice store at Ranger's station with some cute Yogi gifts. Very Very friendly personnel. We were in the "premium" spots which is up on the hill and only about maybe 20 spots. They are extra $s but very well worth it. They are level, paved sites and very near all the action. Now, for the draw backs... in the regular campground (non-premium sites) very unlevel sites, all gravel and the dust will choke you! (but is much more affordable) Do not camp in this area if you or family has asthma. Also, we fought ANTS (and lots of them - very aggravating) the entire week. Other than that it was a great place and I promise you will not be bored. Oh yeah -- if you camp in the premium spots.. you have 2 BBQ pits, one that stands upright and one attached to the fire ring...could come in handy if cooking for a crew! Go... enjoy yourself... you will love it! We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts Yogi on the Lake in a Travel Trailer.

Percy Quin State Park, Mccomb, Mississippi

Date of Stay: February, 2008 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice place. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. Campground is very clean, restrooms were basically clean. Nice large showers. Equipped with picnic tables, BBQ pits, and fire ring (bricks were in a circle and that is where you are to have a campfire). Some site were very unlevel others nice and level. All blacktop paved. No lights in campground at night, make sure to bring flashlights if arriving at night. Nice family CG. Plan on going back again and again. One negative to note is no cable and no WIFI. We camped at Percy Quin State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Lafayette KOA, Scott, Louisiana

Date of Stay: October, 2007 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice, clean park. The reason for the rating is: sites are very close, lots of noise from interstate, very very expensive. Although the staff was friendly, the place is clean, I would have to think twice before going back. My total bill for 2 nights was $95.91! I find that way too much to be parked almost on top of your neighbor and not being able to sleep because of the noise level. There is a lot to do for kids, 2 pools, game room, basketball court, swing set, paddle boats, putt-putt golf -- BUT all come with a cost! Everything is extra except the swing set and basketball and pool. We had to pay $3.00 a day for cable for TV and check out is at Noon and you still have to pay $3.00 even though you must be out by noon. Obviously the owners need to make money but they are taking the joy out of camping when you have to bust a $100.00 bill for 2 nights. That seemed to be the talk of the CG, every complained about the cost vs. what you get. Not sure if we will return. We did hear that a new CG was opening in nearby Henderson, LA around 11/1... we will ck it out and will make our next trip there.. maybe now that this KOA will have competition, they will reduce their rates and fees for everything. We camped at Lafayette KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Natalbany Creek Campground & RV Park, Amite, Louisiana

Date of Stay: August, 2007 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We have camped here several times and always enjoy it. The grass was cut except around the lake but it wasn't over grown. The pool was nice and clean. The campground was really quiet, almost empty because it was "back to school" week. The office staff is a new girl who was much friendlier and helpful than the young man that was there before. Also, they have added a security officer that now patrols the campground. This is something new and appreciated. I have never experienced any problems there but just knowing that they are watching out for their campers is nice. We truly enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to next time. I highly recommend this campground. We camped at Natalbany Creek Campground & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Lakeside RV Park, Livingston, Louisiana

Date of Stay: July, 2007 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

If you need a campground that is basically just slots, this is for you! They is maybe 2 feet of grass between each sites and when we pulled in we were told the few spots we were able to choose as the rest are for long term campers; better known as "residents". There is nothing to do except fish in a small lake or swim in a very small pool. No shade at all. Although staff was friendly they make it known that they cater to their long term guests! We camped at Lakeside RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Fontainebleau State Park, Mandeville, Louisiana

Date of Stay: May, 2007 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park considering it was almost completely destroyed by hurricane. No sewer and the pool is no longer there. It was washed away by hurricane. Nice people, nice park. Would go back. The only reason I give this an 8 instead of a 10 is that the grass needed to be cut badly. It was very high and that is a major pet peeve of mine! Sites were level considering they were gravel. Most sites have shade a few don't but staff was helpful in finding us a spot with our wants and needs. If you go there is a restaurant the staff recommended called "Louis and red head lady". I highly recommend it, very good and inexpensive. They have seafood that is exceptional! We camped at Fontainebleau State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Just letting everyone know that this campground is open again. It had closed in Nov but is now open with new management. I just called to make reservations and the new manager told me they have hay rides every Friday and Saturday evening for the kids, are putting in a new camp store, a snack shop by the pool and putt putt golf! I can't wait to go back. We camped at Natalbany Creek Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.
