Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort, Las Vegas, Nevada

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We were able to book a somewhat shaded spot for two weeks that backed up to the campground's entrance. I highly recommend asking for a site with some shade if you are traveling in the summer. The grass behind our site was perfect for playing frisbee. We also put our chairs at the back of our camper and sat outside in the evenings watching the sunset and watching other campers come and go. The wifi was fast. A lot of campers live there full time and they didn't really want to chat. There are two pools - a family pool and an adults pool. We really enjoyed the pool! There is Friday night entertainment in the ballroom - we didn't go but we walked by on the way to the pool and it seemed like a lot of fun! It is an easy drive to the Strip, a nearby mall and many other shopping and fun things to do. We loved eating at Lazy Dog at the mall with our dog (they even have a dog food menu). There are a few spots - 8 maybe - that back up to the pool. These are shaded spots with nice grassy yards overlooking the pool. If you can get one of those spots I would recommend it! There are lots of bathrooms and laundry rooms throughout the campground. The one closest to us had a few quirks - two bathrooms had AC units and they were freezing. The others didn't have AC units and they were hot. There is a nice mini-golf course around the office and there are bocce ball courts in the middle of the campground. We camped at Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Rancho Sedona RV Park, Sedona, Arizona

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

We booked last minute and could only get a full sun site that was tricky to back into. But it turned out to be fine - we had morning and afternoon shade. We only needed to put our awning out in the middle of the day. Most of the sites are full shade and the summer temperatures were wonderful in the shade. The Wifi worked great. We had fun playing in the creek at the campground with our dog. Everyone that works at the campground is very nice and they all seemed to know our dog's name and said hi to him which was very sweet. You can walk up to town - it takes about 15 minutes. You can also drive and park for free behind a lot of the shops. One of our only complaints is they could probably use more showers. I did have to wait a few times because there are only two showers and I noticed a lot of other campers like to take showers at the campground instead of in our campers. We were told to go to Slide Rock by some friends but it isn't dog friendly. We ended up going to Crescent Moon instead - it is only $10 per car and you can bring your dog. If you are traveling with a dog be aware that we did see a skunk running through the campground one night. The town has light restrictions which made viewing the Milky Way at night perfect! We were supposed to stay for one week and once we arrived we knew we had to extend our stay to two weeks! If you enjoy healing crystal stones, we highly recommend the Crystal Magic store over on 89A. We went at least 6 times during our 14 day stay. They are so friendly and knowledgeable about stones, books, incense, jewelry and more! They also loved our dog coming in to shop. Then there are two stores called Crystal Vortex in the downtown Sedona shops and they have a great selection of stones with knowledgeable friendly staff, too. We camped at Rancho Sedona RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

There is a Friday morning farmer's market at the Tlaquepaque complex and we really enjoyed it. Creekside has outdoor dining that is dog friendly (and they have a dog menu!) And if you need an oil change the team at Sedona Oil and Lube were all super friendly! Paleo Brio and Tamaliza were yummy, too.

Angel Fire RV Resort, Angel Fire, New Mexico

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $64.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of the nicest campgrounds. The sites are level and paved, each site has a tower with electric and cable and internet. The Wifi was great - thankfully - because there is no Verizon service at all. We also have a T-Mobile phone and that phone worked fine. The landscaping is beautiful. The check in desk and store is very nice and the people that work there are friendly. There is a big clubhouse that had a BBQ one night with burgers, drinks and music for a reasonable price. Everyone we met was so friendly and we left with new friends. There is a nice big dog park in the middle with very nice grass. There is a gravel walking loop around the whole campground that we enjoyed. We drove into Taos two different days and we also drove into Red River. Angel Fire was a bit sleepier than we expected and the grocery store was disappointing. The fresh fruits and vegetable section was very limited. The store seemed to focus on alcohol and snacks. We ended up going into Taos for groceries instead. The Walmart in Taos is old and small - it isn't a super store and it doesn't have groceries. But there is a Smiths and an Albertsons and they were large grocery stores with a large selection. If we come back to Angel Fire we will definitely stay here again - we will just arrive with everything we already need in the RV so we don't have to leave this beautiful resort. There is a nice large hot tub and fire pit near the showers. The showers were like a country club locker room - very clean and large and smelled wonderful. We camped at Angel Fire RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Pagosa Riverside Campground, Pagosa Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

This was a nice campground. It had so many pros and the only con was the Wifi. The campground has Wifi, but it didn't work at all during our stay. We could connect but there was no data. Luckily our T-Mobile and Verizon data was okay and we were able to use that for our work. We met a lot of nice neighbors - good neighbors really make or break your camping experience! Our campsite was on the lake. It was a tight spot but it was worth it to wake up and look out on the lake every morning. We ate outside several times. The trailer was parked on gravel but there was a large concrete pad for our carpet and chairs. There were TONS of hummingbirds - more than I have ever seen before!! There are feeders outside of the office and I enjoyed walking over there to watch the hummingbirds. The staff was very nice and we enjoyed the store. We found this cute fish made out of wood that we hung on our camper's wall and we are so glad we bought it! FYI our Verizon phone worked all throughout town but our T-Mobile phone lost service once we passed the Pagosa Hot Springs heading towards Walmart and Ace Hardware. We camped at Pagosa Riverside Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Base Camp 550 (formerly Weber RV Park), Ridgway, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We were in Ouray for the FJ Cruiser Summit and we needed a place to camp with our travel trailer. We tried booking campsites months in advance and everything was booked. We decided to make a few calls 3 days before we arrived just in case of last minute cancellations and luckily they were able to squeeze us in to Base Camp 550/Weber. The park doesn't have the best first impression BUT once you meet the owners you learn that they just bought the park a year ago and they are working hard to make this an awesome place! Our site was on the back of the property overlooking the mountains and a big farm. We had TONS of hummingbirds on our feeder within 30 minutes of hanging it on our trailer. The Wifi is by far the fastest wifi we have encountered in all of our travels. I have T-Mobile so I was in a dead zone (Ouray and Ridgway were no service) but my husband had Verizon and he had good service. With the super fast campground Wifi I wasn't worried at all though! There is a small building with laundry, bathrooms and showers. There is an area across from this building with a large bar area including a sink and grill. They had a happy hour there Saturday night and we enjoyed meeting our camping neighbors. They have added glamping tents to the property and they are SO pretty! The doorway to the tent overlooks the mountains with a nice deck. Once inside, you would think you were in a fancy hotel! They also have tiny houses on the property you can rent through Airbnb. They have Airstreams they are going to fix up and rent out, too. There is a little bit of road noise but it didn't bother us. We look forward to coming back! We camped at Base Camp 550 (formerly Weber RV Park) in a Travel Trailer.

Spanish Trail RV Park & Campground, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

This is a lovely campground just outside of Moab. The campground practically backs up to the wall of red rock cliff that runs along 191 and it is just beautiful! We were traveling in the summer so we knew it would be hot. But the swimming pool was wonderful for those hot mid-days! Our site had a little bit of shade. Some are more shaded than others. We had hummingbirds circling our camper the day we arrived so I decided to buy a feeder. Within 30 minutes, I had a hummingbird! More arrived over the next few days and they were so fun to watch. The Wifi was fast. Everyone that worked (and camped) on the premises was so friendly. We drove over to Dead Horse point one day (recommend by one of the camp hosts) and we also drove around the Sand Flats Recreation Area. One day we will come back and rent a Rzr to run the hard trails. We camped at Spanish Trail RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Mountain Valley RV Resort, Heber City, Utah

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

This has been our absolute favorite campground in our travels! The park is clean and manicured. It has two outdoor pools and hot tubs (one is in the adults only section). It has an amazing dog park that is grassy and large. Our site (P11) was on the end so we had an extra large grassy lawn area. Other dogs would walk along this and our dog really enjoyed the company! We also played frisbee out on our lawn. The Wifi was fast. There are many bathrooms near each pool house and they are single toilet/shower rooms that are large. So anyone can use them and this is great for parents needing to take their kids in to be cleaned up and not having to use a common women's or men's locker room. There is plenty of shopping nearby in Heber City. We also drove to Park City one day. And we drove to the Homestead Crater Hot Spring (highly recommended - you do need reservations). We will definitely be back! We camped at Mountain Valley RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Crystal Hot Springs, Honeyville, Utah

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We wanted to enjoy the hot springs so we decided to camp here. I called ahead on a Thursday to make a reservation for Sunday-Tuesday and the woman on the phone said "We are all booked this weekend." And said, but do you have Sunday night available? And she kept saying "No, the weekend is all booked." I found that hard to believe - I was thinking everyone would head out by Sunday. We decided to chance it and try and walk in. We had a list of backup campgrounds just in case. It turns out, they had plenty of open sites! Only about 6 other campers were there - the rest of the sites were empty. We picked a site in the back by the water that was shaded. There are full hookups. We did check out the bathrooms but they were quite messy - probably because of everyone that just left from the busy weekend. We went to the hot springs pool on Monday. It is $1 off the rate if you are camping there. The pools are really nice and it wasn't too busy on a Monday. There is a nice Walmart, Smiths grocery store, laundromat and plenty of restaurants just down the street in Brigham City. It was a cute little town that we really enjoyed. We camped at Crystal Hot Springs in a Travel Trailer.

Gros Ventre Campground (Concessionaire Operated), Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

I was so nervous about the first come, first served campground process at Yellowstone. We arrived around 4pm so we paid for one night at a non-electric site. It is a weird process where you drive around and pick an open site and come back to sign up for it. You need to have a list of sites in case someone else is zipping around looking for a site and beats you to it. Then we got up early the next morning and were at the office by 7:40am with a list of electric sites that had our date on the site as their checkout date. Those sites aren't a guarantee - the occupant can always go and add more dates. But we had a list of all of the sites with our date as their checkout and they were listed from favorite to least favorite. Our #2 choice had already left by 8am when the office opened and, since we were first in line, we grabbed that spot. Behind our site was the river and we walked to it two different afternoons. There are no showers. We drove to Climbers Ranch for a shower. It was about a 35 minute drive. $5 per person for a shower. The shower curtains were white and nearly transparent and once wet they were practically clear. Luckily there were only two other ladies in the small bathroom but I was still a little uncomfortable being on display while I took a shower. We decided not to do that again and took super quick showers in the RV. That did mean we needed to dump more often. As other reviewers have said, the lines can be long. But everyone is pretty mellow - you are on vacation after all! We saw a Moose in our campground's inner loop one morning. She was resting in the grass and after an hour or so she was up and eating heading our way! That was really neat. There is also a mom Moose and two babies just up the road heading toward Jackson - if there are a lot of cars pulled over, you know they are visible. I had NO T-Mobile and my husband had NO Verizon. You are in a dead zone! We camped at Gros Ventre Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Travel Trailer.

Sheridan / Big Horn Mountains KOA, Sheridan, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

This KOA was a nice surprise. Some of the KOA parks are very, very tight where you have trouble parking your car or opening your awning. But this KOA was roomier and that was nice surprise. The sites are shaded. There is an interstate nearby and I did hear some noise but not much. There is a big dog park - the only problem was the mosquitoes loved us as soon as we started walking over there. The Wifi worked great for us! This was also a surprise because some KOAs have terrible Wifi. We camped at Sheridan / Big Horn Mountains KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Rocky Point Recreation Area, Belle Fourche, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This park is a wonderful quiet getaway! If you need to get to Rapid City for shopping, it is about a 45 minute drive. But there is a grocery store and a Shopko right in Belle Fourche. Almost all of the sites are waterfront. There is lots of room between each site. There isn't a lot of shade but it was still cool in June - we actually needed the heat some nights. The roads are nicely paved leading into the park and the gravel sites are level. The showers are very clean - I love that there are 4 shower rooms on the back of the bathrooms and anyone can use them. This makes it easier if you are traveling with young children and you want to be with them while they wash up. We LOVED the archery course and we can't wait to come back and do it! We had no idea a state park would have an archery course and we weren't prepared. The only negative was the black flies - most of them were just annoying but some did bite. We camped at Rocky Point Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

Tiger Run RV Resort, Breckenridge, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $100.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of our favorite RV parks! The park is very clean and manicured. The Wifi is fast. We enjoyed walking around with our dog and we also hiked up the mountain with him from the path inside the park. There is an indoor pool with hot tubs. You do have to access the pool from the locker rooms. The only problem with this is the showers are very small so it is easier to towel off and get dressed in the large locker room area. But moms with families pass through not wanting to separate - which I completely understand - but it was uncomfortable being naked for a few seconds when a family with young boys came wandering through the locker room. The RV park is gated. You are so close to Breckenridge, Frisco and Dillon. Keep in mind they do have restrictions - no tents or pop up trailers. The park is quite expensive but you are in Breckenridge! We camped at Tiger Run RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Estes Park KOA, Estes Park, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

This was our first time staying at a KOA. The spaces are definitely tight and we knew they would be. But the location was right outside of Estes Park. The staff is super friendly and the bathrooms are spotless. They have different events going on that we enjoyed - a wine tasting one night, an ice cream social another night and a concert another night. We booked a water-electric site and after a few days we were going to go dump at the dump station. We mentioned this to the staff when we happened to ask about getting more propane and they offered their portable dump service for only $10. It was so nice not having to pack up and lock down everything in the camper just to go dump. It was definitely worth the $10 fee! The Wifi was really, really slow if there was any at all. I would recommend tethering to your phone. I woke up at 3am one night and decided to download a library book to read and the internet wouldn't even work at 3am! We went over to the public library to get some work done and their free internet was great. We tried to eat outside at several restaurants with our dog and none of the ones we tried were dog friendly. That was disappointing. So we ended up cooking in for all of our meals. The local Safeway is great! We camped at Estes Park KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Angostura SRA, Hot Springs, South Dakota

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

There are several campgrounds at Angostura and we booked last minute so the only sites available were in the Horsehead Camground. We booked site #148E. It was a cold rainy weekend but we still enjoyed walking along the path near the lake and walking down to the lake. Horsehead is a bit higher up so the paths down to the lake end in a small drop off into the water with no beach. The bathrooms were clean but it was a chilly windy weekend and wow the air raced through the bathroom's vented doors! Just going to the bathroom was a cold experience so we decided to check out the bathrooms at Hat Creek instead. Their doors didn't have vents so it was much, much warmer inside. We ended up taking our showers down at Hat Creek. Then on Sunday we noticed everyone was packing up and leaving. We were staying until Tuesday so we looked at the empty lakefront sites and wrote down the numbers. We stoped at the Ranger Station up front and asked if we could switch sites for the next few days. We ended up at site #96 - right on the water! It was so much nicer being right on the water all day. There is a small beach and many swan families with their babies. At night, I could hear several owls talking to each other up in the trees. I have T-Mobile and I didn't have service at all at Horsehead. Then over at Hat Creek I was roaming on AT&T occasionally. My husband has Verizon and he had good service the whole time. We drove into Hot Springs for groceries and to use the laundromat. It is a nice, small town. We camped at Angostura SRA in a Travel Trailer.
