Cave Country RV Campground, Cave City, Kentucky

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful grounds and spotless facility! Lots of rules, but park is obviously well cared for because of it. The landscaping is amazing compared to other private parks. Lovely fountain with an incredible variety of flowers, trees, and shrubs. Nice restrooms, laundry facilities, and small area with exercise machines. Gravel roads and level pull-thru sites which are fairly close together. Easy access for big rigs. We camped at Cave Country RV Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Park is located in Cave City with many tourist attractions in the area. Also, convenient to restaurants (Cracker Barrel, MacDonalds, and KFC). Railroad tracks are very close by, but we didn't notice any noise at night.

Village Creek State Park, Wynne, Arkansas

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful park with level, spacious, wooded campsites. Loved the shade and privacy! However, there is no cell phone service at all inside the park, and the restrooms are not air conditioned. We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Cedars of Lebanon State Park, Lebanon, Tennessee

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

The park is scenic but apparently very busy due to its proximity to Nashville. The campground was mostly full when we arrived, and a posted sign said that all sites were reserved. The store front had a sign saying it was open until 8 PM. However, it was closed at 6:30 PM, and there were no instruction for late registration. We discovered the campground host when we began searching for an open site. It took him a while to locate an open site which would fit our rig. There didn't seem to be any kind of online system with this info because we had to wait while he drove around in a golf cart. The sites were large, level and shaded, but the restrooms were awful. No air conditioning, dirty, bugs, and only one for that whole loop. Very disappointing! We camped at Cedars of Lebanon State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Buffalo / I-40 / Exit 143 KOA, Hurricane Mills, Tennessee

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Small, shady, well-kept campground with pool, horseshoe pit, and volleyball court. Buildings are outdated inside, but restrooms are clean. Gravel roads with pull-thru sites which are generally level side to side but sloping front to back. Pull-thru sites are very long, narrow and shaded. Lots of highway noise since interstate is adjacent, but the park itself is down a very quiet country road. While perfectly adequate for an overnight stay, I was surprised that this much older RV park charged a higher rate than a newer campground where we had stayed. Perhaps that explains why the host gave us an automatic discount after we had checked in late at night. We camped at Buffalo / I-40 / Exit 143 KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Lewisville Lake Park Campground, Lewisville, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

I have very mixed reviews for this campground. 1. Nightly rate was fantastic for a long pull-thru site with 50 amps! However, the sites were VERY close together...maybe 10 feet between them. Fortunately, we didn't have anyone on either side of us, so there was enough room for our slide outs. 2. The asphalt on the individual sites was very rough and torn up, making it hard to level your rig, but the streets are wide and smooth. 3. Although the park was mostly full, the grounds were very neat and well-kept. Some areas have plenty of trees, but our site did not have any shade. 4. The laundry facility closed at 8 PM, so I didn't get to use it at all. 5. There were two bath houses, but neither one had any AC. The newer building was like a sauna inside because there was no ventilation except for a mounted fan blowing HOT air. At least the older building had screened windows, allowing some fresh air in from outside. 6. The campground had nice scenery since it was between a golf course and a lake. But, it was located directly in a flight path, and there were jets flying overhead the whole time. We camped at Lewisville Lake Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Natural Bridge State Resort Park - Middle Fork Campground, Slade, Kentucky

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Small campground with very clean restrooms and well-kept grounds. Tight turns and closely spaced sites, but very scenic with stream running through the campground. Noisy due to road traffic during the day, but quiet at night. We moved to a different site since we couldn't fit in #21 without unhitching. However, the new site was only 30 amp, so we ended up having to move again. Located across the road from Mill Creek Lake. Beautiful park with a stream, lake, and pool. Fantastic scenery! You can hike (uphill) to the natural bridge, or you can ride the skylift to it. Red River Gorge is nearby where you can hike to several more arches. Sky Bridge was fairly easy trail half an hour from park. However, you should NOT drive the scenic byway in a large vehicle or towing because of narrow tunnel and winding road. We camped at Natural Bridge State Resort Park - Middle Fork Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Fort Boonesborough State Park, Richmond, Kentucky

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Everything was very clean and neat in this park even though it was full. Restrooms and grounds were immaculate! Also, we were amazed that a state park provided laundry facilities. My only complaint would be that the sites are very close together, and there is no privacy at all. Interior roads were quite easy to navigate. We barely squeezed into our pull-thru site without having to unhitch, but some pull-thru sites were longer. The route we took from Lexington on 418 had lots of low-hanging branches and one extremely steep hill. I would not recommend it for high profile fifth wheels. We camped at Fort Boonesborough State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
