Wonderland RV Park, Torrey, Utah

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

One of the best campgrounds we visited because of the beautifully maintained grounds and facilities. However, the campground is right beside the main road, and there was traffic noise during the day. Otherwise, the park was fairly small and quiet. My only real complaint is that the buildings are cleaned from 10 to 11:30 every morning. Since check-out time is 11:00 am, you can't use the facilities for the last hour before you leave. Why couldn't they be cleaned after everyone checks out? Doesn't make any sense! Also, the showers have a time limit of 7 minutes in order to conserve water. We camped at Wonderland RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Red Cliff Restaurant was one of the few places open on a Sunday evening. Service was a bit slow, but it was getting rather crowded. We thought the food was very good, and the portions were generous. We didn't try dessert, but they sounded fantastic.

Wagon Wheel, Mountain Home, Idaho

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is an very small campground with mostly long-term or permanent residents. There are older mobile homes and some campers, but everything outside is very neat and tidy. We only saw 2 open campsites when we arrived, and only one looked as if it would fit our 35' fifth wheel. No one was at the office, but I called the posted number and left a message. The manager called back soon and indicated that we could leave our payment in the drop box and take one of the sites available. We had plenty of room to park our camper and tow vehicle next to a nice concrete patio. The restroom consisted of one small room with a shower, toilet, and sink; unfortunately, there was no handsoap provided or heater. The laundry room next door had a single coin-operated washer and dryer. Both rooms were generally clean, but the building was rather old with peeling paint inside, making the rooms seem dingy. However, the exterior looked much nicer with Western murals painted on the cement block walls. Overall, it was a pleasant place to stay at a decent price ($35 includes tax) if you don't expect fancy amentities. We camped at Wagon Wheel in a Fifth Wheel.

Bannock County Fairgrounds, Pocatello, Idaho

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a self-pay campground next to the rodeo arena. We stayed here 2 nights in a fifth wheel and got to watch a small riding competition going on in the indoor arena. We could not fit on any of the grass sites, so we parked long ways across several sites since there were only a few campers there. Several campers were obviously living there. We called all three listed phone numbers to obtain the restroom door code, but no one answered so we couldn't use the campground facilities. However, the restroom at the arena next to the campground was unlocked (no showers) and was reasonably clean despite the mud and horse manure all over the parking lot. Very quiet campground although there was a train track nearby. We camped at Bannock County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Juniper Campground, Ririe, Idaho

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful campground in a quiet location at a great value! My only complaint would be that the restrooms are not updated and could use some overall cleaning out of all the cobwebs filled with dead insects. Otherwise, the campsites are lovely and spacious, the grounds are beautifully landscaped, and the hookups are perfectly placed. I highly recommend it for a remote setting, but the small town of Ririe is nearby, and Idaho Falls is not too far away for everything else you might need. We camped at Juniper Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Buffalo Bill State Park, Cody, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

We thought this campground was gorgeous in late September with the trees turning vibrant colors and snow dusting the mountain tops. Very quiet and scenic! I would rate this a 10 except that a water main had broken, and we couldn't use the restrooms or dump station. Had to drive to the other campground to access those. Also, the pull-through site was located so close to the interior road that our slide-out was right at the edge of the road. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Cave Country RV Campground, Cave City, Kentucky

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful grounds and spotless facility! Lots of rules, but park is obviously well cared for because of it. The landscaping is amazing compared to other private parks. Lovely fountain with an incredible variety of flowers, trees, and shrubs. Nice restrooms, laundry facilities, and small area with exercise machines. Gravel roads and level pull-thru sites which are fairly close together. Easy access for big rigs. We camped at Cave Country RV Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Village Creek State Park, Wynne, Arkansas

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $27.00

Beautiful park with level, spacious, wooded campsites. Loved the shade and privacy! However, there is no cell phone service at all inside the park, and the restrooms are not air conditioned. We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Cedars of Lebanon State Park, Lebanon, Tennessee

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

The park is scenic but apparently very busy due to its proximity to Nashville. The campground was mostly full when we arrived, and a posted sign said that all sites were reserved. The store front had a sign saying it was open until 8 PM. However, it was closed at 6:30 PM, and there were no instruction for late registration. We discovered the campground host when we began searching for an open site. It took him a while to locate an open site which would fit our rig. There didn't seem to be any kind of online system with this info because we had to wait while he drove around in a golf cart. The sites were large, level and shaded, but the restrooms were awful. No air conditioning, dirty, bugs, and only one for that whole loop. Very disappointing! We camped at Cedars of Lebanon State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Buffalo / I-40 / Exit 143 KOA, Hurricane Mills, Tennessee

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Small, shady, well-kept campground with pool, horseshoe pit, and volleyball court. Buildings are outdated inside, but restrooms are clean. Gravel roads with pull-thru sites which are generally level side to side but sloping front to back. Pull-thru sites are very long, narrow and shaded. Lots of highway noise since interstate is adjacent, but the park itself is down a very quiet country road. While perfectly adequate for an overnight stay, I was surprised that this much older RV park charged a higher rate than a newer campground where we had stayed. Perhaps that explains why the host gave us an automatic discount after we had checked in late at night. We camped at Buffalo / I-40 / Exit 143 KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Lewisville Lake Park Campground, Lewisville, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

I have very mixed reviews for this campground. 1. Nightly rate was fantastic for a long pull-thru site with 50 amps! However, the sites were VERY close together...maybe 10 feet between them. Fortunately, we didn't have anyone on either side of us, so there was enough room for our slide outs. 2. The asphalt on the individual sites was very rough and torn up, making it hard to level your rig, but the streets are wide and smooth. 3. Although the park was mostly full, the grounds were very neat and well-kept. Some areas have plenty of trees, but our site did not have any shade. 4. The laundry facility closed at 8 PM, so I didn't get to use it at all. 5. There were two bath houses, but neither one had any AC. The newer building was like a sauna inside because there was no ventilation except for a mounted fan blowing HOT air. At least the older building had screened windows, allowing some fresh air in from outside. 6. The campground had nice scenery since it was between a golf course and a lake. But, it was located directly in a flight path, and there were jets flying overhead the whole time. We camped at Lewisville Lake Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Natural Bridge State Resort Park - Middle Fork Campground, Slade, Kentucky

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Small campground with very clean restrooms and well-kept grounds. Tight turns and closely spaced sites, but very scenic with stream running through the campground. Noisy due to road traffic during the day, but quiet at night. We moved to a different site since we couldn't fit in #21 without unhitching. However, the new site was only 30 amp, so we ended up having to move again. Located across the road from Mill Creek Lake. Beautiful park with a stream, lake, and pool. Fantastic scenery! You can hike (uphill) to the natural bridge, or you can ride the skylift to it. Red River Gorge is nearby where you can hike to several more arches. Sky Bridge was fairly easy trail half an hour from park. However, you should NOT drive the scenic byway in a large vehicle or towing because of narrow tunnel and winding road. We camped at Natural Bridge State Resort Park - Middle Fork Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Fort Boonesborough State Park, Richmond, Kentucky

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Everything was very clean and neat in this park even though it was full. Restrooms and grounds were immaculate! Also, we were amazed that a state park provided laundry facilities. My only complaint would be that the sites are very close together, and there is no privacy at all. Interior roads were quite easy to navigate. We barely squeezed into our pull-thru site without having to unhitch, but some pull-thru sites were longer. The route we took from Lexington on 418 had lots of low-hanging branches and one extremely steep hill. I would not recommend it for high profile fifth wheels. We camped at Fort Boonesborough State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
