Westport Beach RV Park and Campground (formerly Westport Beach / N Men, Westport, California

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $71.00
Overall Rating:

We stumbled on this one on our way Southbound down the Pac Coast Highway, from Rockport. We did a drive through, and fell in love with a spot ridiculously close to a fabulous sandy ocean beach. Even at this OFF time, and a Monday night, the other choice spots were mostly reserved. We spent the day on the beach, and had it to ourselves about half the time. It's a huge, level, sandy beach,......and then we watched the sunset from our spot. It's pretty amazing to be so close to gorgeous beach , and to have the power that my wife insists on for these cooler Fall evenings. Verizon signal spotty, but workable from our spot, and I was able to make a call from the beach. The WIFI is surprisingly GREAT, but remember........the park is probably at 10% occupancy. Dirt roads into and in the park a bit sketchy, but heh,......you're on the ocean. Sites pretty lumpy and undeveloped,......near level.........you're going to spend all your time at the beach anyway! We camped at Westport Beach RV Park and Campground (formerly Westport Beach / N Men in a Motorhome.

Harbor RV Park, Fort Bragg, California

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

We stumbled onto this place after spending the day at Noyo Beach off leash dog beach very nearby. The park is just off Main Street / Highway 1, and gets some road noise in the AM. It doesn't look like much more than gravel lot from the road, but you have unobstructed views of the ocean, and a very nice and scenic paved path (County Park) across the headlands right in front of you. We hit the weather just perfect, but thought the place was great for a VERY scenic and enjoyable overnighter. We pulled in nose first (with permission) and were able to connect power but not TV. Good strong Verizon signal since you're right in Fort Bragg. We'll be back as it fits most of our criteria for a nice ocean overnighter. We camped at Harbor RV Park in a Motorhome.

Pomo RV Park & Campground, Fort Bragg, California

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

Our second stay in 4 years. Friendly staff, well-maintained park. Handy location for North Coast. We usually boondocks, but a bit too cold for my wife at this time of year. Verizon signal VERY weak and,.....might've been the Saturday night thing, but the WIFI connected but didn't work for me.........so no connectivity. Pugged in cable and saw a playoff MLB game and some OAK vs Seahawk football Sun AM,.....so all worked out. Since I still work,......phone/WiFI would otherwise be a deal breaker for me )-: Office staff got us filed up with propane Sun AM before we shoved off.......nice folks! We camped at Pomo RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Bodega Bay RV Park, Bodega Bay, California

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

Staff checked us in by phone and was great, including allowing us a bit of a variance to stay just one night since we are meandering w-0 reservations. This place is VERY organized and well-managed. Clean and tidy. Decent Verizon signal so did not need to use any WIFI. We camped at Bodega Bay RV Park in a Motorhome.

Coyote Valley RV Resort, Morgan Hill, California

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

We were here for 3 nights in a motorhome with a trailer. It's a very nice park with trees and well-taken care of......very park like. Staff well-trained and helpful. It fronts on what is basically a highway, and my partner is very noise sensitive. Since we had a trailer, we were advised we could ONLY be in a large, premium site, despite the fact that our 25 foot coach and small enclosed trailer could have resided in a smaller one. Unfortunately, all the larger sites are "up front," and close to the highway. The internet is easily overwhelmed as is often the case in RV parks. It'll work OK until ~4:00PM weekdays, then start lagging. I work from our little coach, and so I just routinely used my Verizon hotspot and didn't bother with the resort's insufficient internet. We camped at Coyote Valley RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Trailer Villa RV Park, Redwood City, California

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $95.00
Overall Rating:

We have "kids" at Stanford and so have stayed here a handful of times. This trip, we are in the expensive, pull-through way back.......on the salt flat bay. It's quiet with a pretty nice view for being in the city. Bathrooms in the expensive seats are newer, high end and spotless. No complaints with sites. They've cleaned up the main resident's section that you drive through to access the rear for overnighters. Staff has turned over, and I miss the adorable older woman I used to interact with in the office. New staff not so sharp. Can't reserve on-line, rarely get through on phone, and took TWO days to return my call. The Wi-Fi is terrible. You get a coupon and, after going through a drill to "register," you might slowly get connected,.......but I never actually got service. I called the vendor's 800 # and, after a 10 min. wait, got some guy who didn't care and blamed it on the fact that the park's bandwidth is insufficient for the number of users (It was mid-day!!!!). Verizon Mi-Fi has rescued me, but I really feel abused to pay $95, and have no internet. If you don't need a pull-through you can probably save ~$15 a night, but you might want to try to get a key for the bathrooms in the back which are a big redeeming factor. We camped at Trailer Villa RV Park in a Motorhome.

Mountain Shadows RV Park, Draper, Utah

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

One night here to meet friends in area. It's right on the side of a major freeway, so it's handy but noisy. Staff very friendly at check-in. Put us in a 50 amp only site, but cheerfully provided the step-down equipment for 30 amp. Place seems well managed. Feels like a lot of full timers, but not annoying. Big grassy on-leash dog area. Sparse large mature shade trees much appreciated. No issue with long pull thru site,....kind of an old asphalt parking lot with close quarters. For $48.50 (before GS discount), in this day and age, I really expect solid internet. This Monday morning at 7:30, I can connect up just fine, but pages load so SLOW, I have to get out my Verizon Mi-Fi. If you're going to keep the place at capacity with all these folks living here,......PLEASE FIX the internet service! We camped at Mountain Shadows RV Park in a Motorhome.

Craig KOA, Craig, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Nice pull-through, gravel and level. Wi-Fi works great......I wish all parks had this system! Good thing too, cuz the Verizon signal's a bit weak. The dog wash with the hot water is amazing. The newly tiled and re-done restrooms are ridiculously spotless. There are a premium on the shade trees, so pay attention when you make your reservation in the Summer on this issue. We camped at Craig KOA in a Motorhome.

Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA, Cortez, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Nice, typical KOA. Staff friendly, nice facility and some views from many of the sites. They let us turn around and face the mountains, and we had an excellent view. We paid $50, tax inclusive, for water and power. For that $, I thought we should've had better internet. It was slow to hook up, and very slow to load pages. I used way Verizon MiFi instead, and the service on that was slow too (but better). We camped at Cortez / Mesa Verde KOA in a Motorhome.

Columbia Sun RV Resort, Kennewick, Washington

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Spotless and fairly new. Very friendly service, and very handy to I-84. I should've tried to get us further away from the freeway and public side road. Noise was a bit of a factor.

100 degrees and, since trees are still infants, no shade. We were awoken at 0700 by a large mower driving within feet of the coach! Showers on 30 second timer, and one set temperature was a bit cool. Only about 30 direct TV channels available thru resort' s cable. Olympics, on NBC Sports, not available. Their D-TV package seems a bit "light."

Kudos for the work-out facility, which was nice. Looked like a nice pool, and a bunch of other kid-friendly stuff. We camped at Columbia Sun RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Glenwood Springs West / Colorado River KOA, Silt, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Spent a week here, in several different sites.

The good - friendly staff, new and clean place, practically on the river. Very nice clubhouse and super clean restrooms. Best place in the area. We were climbing up in the Rifle canyon, and needed WiFi at night and in AM.

The bad - Right on I-70, although spots furthest from freeway not bad on noise. Poor workers at desk baffled by computer system, so bring your patience if other than a simple one night transaction. Management doesn't yet have policies to "school" bad dog owners at registration. Had to educate one myself after enduring endless barking one AM.

Overall, very nice stay and would be happy to repeat. We camped at Glenwood Springs West / Colorado River KOA in a Motorhome.

Very basic, large paved parking lot. We were in a larger, pull through, but many sites are very tight.

Acceptable for an overnighter due to proximity to Interstate 10. Lots of full time residents and clutter.

Noise tolerable at night, but things get real active real early........trains, nearby Interstate, industrial neighbors. Folks next door left at 6:30 for a reason. We camped at Mission RV Park in a Motorhome.

Hueco Tanks State Park & Historic Site, El Paso, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

Gorgeous setting. World class bouldering. Heated restrooms with hot showers. Elec and water at sites.

Very tight regulation because it is sacred Native American land. We are lucky to be allowed on site at all after the desecration that has occurred in past.

The Texas authorities now in charge are extremely clear about the tight regulation, and you can't possibly get a reservation or get into the park without being made aware of the requirements.

Gate locks at 6 each night, and you cannot come and go after that. We will be back (-: We camped at Hueco Tanks State Park & Historic Site in a Motorhome.

Canyonlands RV Resort & Campground, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Nice little park centrally located with lots of shade. We were in the back to get off and away from main street. The shade was great, and all was well until 0700 when the marching band hit the field at the high school next door. Oh well, I probably only would've slept to 0745 anyway. The Teng Internet was having issues, and I was awfully glad my wife's Verizon MiFi was available. Check -n girl at the office very friendly and helpful. But for the doggone band, I'd be pretty happy. Yosemite West Mariposa KOA, Midpines, California

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

The park has a wonderful setting, and enjoys close proximity to Yosemite. It is well maintained, and seems to have all the amenities one would look for. We stayed for 4 nights, and enjoyed the other guests (mostly European) and the beautiful setting. Not surprisingly, there is little phone signal (actually none for Sprint). The Wi-Fi hooks up and works beautifully at 5 AM when there are few other users. At other hours of the day, we found the Wi-Fiunableto be of any assistance. The office people explained that the service was being provided by Tengo and, after all, we were up in the mountains. The lovely and clean bathrooms had 3 showers, and are likely capable of keeping up with the customer demand. Problem is, the showers sometimes don't work. The office people explained they were well aware of the problem and you just need to move a lever up at the shower head (they had no idea why customers insisted on turning them off up there). As I am still employed, I won't be able to stay at the Midpines KOA in the foreseeable future. I must have a decent phone signal OR functional Wi-Fi so that i can field and reply to customers. Lovely physical setting, though. We camped at Yosemite West Mariposa KOA in a Motorhome.
