George L. Smith State Park, Twin City, Georgia

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We checked in and lady at the desk was not overly friendly, gave no extra details on anything, no map of the sites, no thank you for staying with them. Site barely held our 5th wheel. Space was a tight fit with narrow steps to go down to picnic table...water was soooo black and yucky we wouldn't even put our kayak in it. Cut our stay short and just came home. We mostly likely will not go back to this camp ground even though it's less than an hour from us. We camped at George L. Smith State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Hamburg State Park, Mitchell, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 4 nights and can't wait to go back, we were in a 30 ft 5th wheel, we had plenty of room and an awesome view of the lake. We had our 2 puppies with us and they had plenty of room to roam as well. Grounds were clean, as well as the restrooms and showers, they also were lite very good for night time visits, between the 2 restrooms/ showers there is a laundry mat with a washer and dryer if you need one. Didn't see a hostess but did see park worker that was very nice and helpful. Went to park office same friendly and helpful service there as well. Toured the grits mill / museum on Saturday and the guy showing us around was very informative about the process of grinding the grits and corn meal there on site...good fishing as well...lake was clean and kept up well around the outsides. It is well shaded thru out so tv reception is really not there and basic cell phones has no reception either...but you are on vacation right. We did go out park about 2 miles and got reception ...would still go back anytime... We camped at Hamburg State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Park store had a tiny amount of things to purchase. Closest minute mart was about 12 miles away, however Sandersville a larger town with Walmart and other stores was about 20-25 miles away.
