Hillside RV Park, Oswego, Kansas

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Owner is extremely friendly and very accommodating - we required service repair from a mobile RV service and ended up having to stay extra days due to problems getting the parts and the repairman then having his own vehicle problems! Owner told us not to worry about paying for the extra days, but we paid anyway since it was a very good value with Passport America and we were using electricity, water and sewer! All utilities worked well and site was fairly level. WIFI was generally good, even though we were not close to the booster, but it did have a couple of hiccups we had to wait out. Still, able to pay bills and other necessities, so no big problem. Over-the-air (antenna) television was fine (about 20 stations, but some have the same shows). The park is divided in half, with one side being older mobile homes. Very quiet and there is plenty of room to walk a dog or just yourself! Grocery store is also within easy walking distance. No laundry facilities in the park. Would definitely return here if in the area again. We camped at Hillside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Little House on the Prairie site is only about an hour away, in Independence KS and worth t he visit. Big Brutus, about 20 minutes away is very much worth the visit and admission is reasonable. The town is also a nice one to ride your bikes around - we rode down to a nearby river (maybe 15 minutes on bike).

Covenant Cove RV Resort (formerly Ron's RV Park), Rushville, Missouri

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

$26/night was the reduced rate for paying by the week. This park accepts a lot of temporary workers who come to the area and who stay for weeks or months at a time. We arrived a week or two after many workers had moved on, so the park was very nice and quiet - but, it may have been quiet too when the group of workers were here! Parking is on grass with concrete slab for patio. A few young trees planted about, but not many. They keep the grass mowed and spaces are spacious! Utilities (electric, water and sewer) were excellent and the WIFI was incredible - four boosters around this small park, so never a problem getting on the free secured internet or staying on. Park situated on a lake, so very pretty; unfortunately not a big variety of birds in the summer! There are plenty of walking/hiking areas within driving distance of this park. One is on the other side of the lake and we enjoyed watching a mating pair of red-headed woodpeckers! Owner is personable and delivers any forwarded mail to you at your door if you are home. Laundry was limited (2 washers, 2 dryers) but worked well. Shower in the bathhouse looked kinda nasty, but it could have just been stained walls - I did not use it. Also in the bathhouse is a large TV with dvd player hooked up and Wii with many Wii games available to play. Road into the park is gravel. Immediately across the street of the park is a large corn field (soy bean field down the road), so feels somewhat secluded. Our rig is mid-sized, but larger rigs would fit in easily. Will definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped at Covenant Cove RV Resort (formerly Ron's RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Psychiatric Museum in Saint Joseph, approx. 18 miles north, was fascinating. Closest grocery shopping, including Walmart and drug stores, is in Atchison, Kansas, about 7 miles west.

Seaside RV Resort, Thousand Trails , Seaside, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This large park is a little bit of a drive east of town, but easy to navigate and very peaceful. We stayed in the South Campground - away from the swimming pool, basketball and pickle ball courts - and found it quiet. Only stayed two nights and next time will stay longer due to proximity to beaches, especially Haystack Rock. Wifi and cell service were very good. No cable tv but over-the-air tv was fantastic. Very well maintained RV sites, very roomy, and the staff quite friendly and helpful. All grass sites and few trees in the site areas, but did not really need the shade, even in June! We camped at Seaside RV Resort, Thousand Trails in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Haystack Rock is a must, especially for birders - puffins, although hard to spot, were there when we visited in June, along with cormorants, common murres and, of course, seagulls. Even saw a bald eagle being chased by a crow!

Camp Blanco RV Park, Port Orford, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Great little campground in the coastal town of Port Orford, Oregon which accommodates all rig sizes (no tents). The owner/manager was very friendly, offered us the reduced monthly rate instead of the weekly rate based on our planned length of stay, and was as close to "always" available when needed as a person can be while also living their own lives! Late one night, there was an incessantly barking dog across the street, outside the RV Park's boundaries, and when brought to the Park's owner/manager's attention, he did not hesitate to investigate, then call local authorities to take care of the situation. The Park also accepts delivery of mail and packages, sells needed replacement parts for RVs (such as the small light bulbs) and fills RV propane tanks! We will most definitely stay here again when we return to the area! Oh, and if you like deer, a sibling pair of year-old deer wandered by the RV park a few times while we were there! We camped at Camp Blanco RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Easy walk (a mile or less) to stores and a wonderful overlook of the coast with ship dock. A moderate walk to a beach on which to stroll and look for agates! Easy drive to other nearby points of interest.
