Oak Plantation Campground, Charleston, South Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in this beautiful park for two nights. Very helpful staff. Found us a sat friendly site even though they have excellent cable tv. WiFi is also excellent. The facilities are squeaky clean and of ample number but they are not ADA compliant. There is not a toilet with a bar or of the ADA height. Publix grocery is close as are several fast food restaurants. The problem is that the highway has no pedestrian crossing and is dangerous to cross. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Motorhome.

Little Cedar Creek Campgrounds and Cabins, Ridgeway, South Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed one night on the way to Charleston. The sites are level and the staff friendly. The negatives are no WiFi and the dreaded little round toilet. One toilet for the entire park...unisex. It has a. handicap placard but no way it meets ADS guidelines. The camp should spend a few bucks to correct the deficiencies. Good for a one night stay only. We camped at Little Cedar Creek Campgrounds and Cabins in a Motorhome.

Supposedly expensive but we got a deal because of the season. Nice park on a rushing river loaded with trout. Our site was level with good WiFi and satellite friendly. Facilities were spotless. We camped at Cherokee / Great Smokies KOA in a Motorhome.

Renfro Valley KOA, Mount Vernon, Kentucky

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed one night. We were assigned a site when we reserved but when we arrived it had been changed. We were led to an unlevel site in the trees with no line of sight for the satellite and poor wifi. We insisted on the site were initially assigned and were reluctantly given it even though the park was virtually empty. It was level, with good wifi and a clear line to the satellite. Positives is that the facilities were spotless. Negative is that the water pressure at our site was extremely low. We camped at Renfro Valley KOA in a Motorhome.

Huntington / Fox Fire KOA, Milton, West Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed three nights because of Hurricane Florence. It happened to be KOA member appreciation weekend so we got one night free. Extremely nice park. Level site, helpful staff and excellent cable TV. The wifi, however, came and went depending of the time of day. Restrooms were very clean. We camped at Huntington / Fox Fire KOA in a Motorhome.

Sand Springs Campground, Morgantown, West Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

When we called to reserve a site for a one night stopover we asked several questions including do you have any satellite friendly sites? They said yes. When we arrived we were told that there were none that would work. That was true. We were promised a full hook up site. When we arrived we were told that none of the full hook up sites were level. So we agreed to a water and electric site that was supposed to be level. Not so. It was a back-in on the edge of a ravine. I raised the back of the coach as far as I could but we were still nose high. Then I put large rocks behind all the tires to keep out of the ravine. There is no wifi or cable TV. Several "over the air" channels are available. The restrooms are not clean. When I attempted to move the picnic table closer to the coach a rotted top board came off in my hand. Not a place we will stay again. We camped at Sand Springs Campground in a Motorhome.

Bellefonte / State College KOA, Bellefonte, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

With a KOA one usually knows what to expect...clean facilitates, nice laundry and well stocked store. Friendly service. We were not disappointed. Wifi was excellent and cable TV was not perfect but very acceptable. The sites were level and not too muddy even thought the area has had heavy rain and flooding. We camped at Bellefonte / State College KOA in a Motorhome.

Tall Pines Campground, Canoeing & Country Store, Bainbridge, New York

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

We spent one rainy cold night here at a waterside campsite. The sites and the road are gravel but were pretty muddy. A few loads of new gravel would have been nice. Because of the weather we did not use any of the amenities. The restrooms...a long walk to the best equipped...were clean but unheated. Would stay again. We camped at Tall Pines Campground, Canoeing & Country Store in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

A fastidiously maintained property with a carpet of beautiful grass. No carpets allowed on it. Cable TV has been removed but we got a sat friendly site. #15. Wifi was excellent. Faculties were clean. Will stay again. We camped at Lazy Lions Campground in a Motorhome.

My Brother's Place Campground, Houlton, Maine

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Best grass I ever saw in a park. One could almost go barefoot. Good wifi. Sat friendly sites. Sadly the restrooms were abysmal...the dreaded low round toilets...and stall walls and inside door that had something gross growing on them. Who ever cleans them must never go all the way in, close the door and look at the enclosure. Really bad. Would never go back. We camped at My Brother's Place Campground in a Motorhome.

Seaview Campground, Cottages and Motel, Eastport, Maine

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed two days and had a site right on the water with a great view of the boats and islands. People were watching for whales, but we saw none. The site was level. Wifi was great. Our site was satellite friendly. Restrooms were very clean. We would give more stars if we could and will stay again someday. We camped at Seaview Campground, Cottages and Motel in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Downtown Eastport is less touristy than cities farther west. The best lobster roll of this trip was there at the Quoddy Bay Lobster Co.

Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort, Bar Harbor, Maine

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $80.00
Overall Rating:

A very nice park with great wifi and cable tv. Sites are reasonably level and of adequate size. The restrooms and showers are a little dated but kept very clean...except when there are a large number of tent campers using them because it is hard to keep up with the traffic in and out. We were there Labor day weekend, thus lots of tents. A free bus to Bar Harbor runs frequently throughout the day. Beware of the heavy cruise ship days. Labor day four ships unloaded 7,000 passengers downtown. Had to walk in the street to get around. The park is very expensive but I got a 20% veterans discount. Would stay again. We camped at Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Sea-Vu Campground, Wells, Maine

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $72.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here two days in a site with a view of the marsh and the ocean in the background. A very nice location. I would have given the park more stars if not for the following: 1. The restrooms and showers are dated and have small stalls. There is no ADA compliant toilet. The laundry has poor dryers. 2. The wifi is almost impossible to use although it shows a strong signal with internet availability. 3. The cable TV is extremely odd. Some channels had a dash after the number like an over the air channel would have and are pixelated. Many of the channels are fuzzy. We probably would not stay again. We camped at Sea-Vu Campground in a Motorhome.

Adirondack Gateway RV Resort, Gansevoort, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed three nights so wife could visit her numerous cousins. Our site was on the end of a row in a heavily wooded part of the campground. When we pulled in we noticed many ant hills so we called the office. Within minutes a fellow appeared and thoroughly sprayed them. The restrooms and showers are very modern and clean. The set by the pool gets more use so we used the ones in the main office building. Lots of seasonal residents who attend bingo sessions and Saturday night dancing in the activities building. A man with a bullhorn rides around the park calling the residents to play. Would stay again. We camped at Adirondack Gateway RV Resort in a Motorhome.
