Horne Lake RV Park (formerly Osprey First In Florida RV Park), Yulee, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We had two nights of vacation left and really wanted to visit St. Mary's historic district before heading north. This campground showed on our map as just off i95 which we considered perfect. As mentioned in most of the reviews, this is an older park with a large population of residents and many older homes. Sites are extremely small, but without a slide this wasn't a problem. Water pressure, WiFi and TV were good. Site was level and hard. What I really liked were 1. Friendly staff and 2. Friendly neighbors. Everyone at least offered a greeting and one fellow stopped by each night and visited for some time. We didn't have time to take advantage of the hiking trails or lake. The only real downside was the traffic noise. i95 is really close and the traffic doesn't let up during the night. We camped at Horne Lake RV Park (formerly Osprey First In Florida RV Park) in a Travel Trailer.

South Forty Campground, Petersburg, Virginia

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This was an overnight for us when traveling south and then again when traveling north. Only a half mile or so off I-95 at exit 41, we found the campground perfect for our needs (22' TT and f350). We stayed in two sites, B9 and A8 I think. Sites were somewhat level (nothing a 2x6 wouldn't cure) and average in size. Staff were accommodating and suggested alternate sites that were available. Water pressure, wifi and TV were adequate. We ate at the little restaurant out front the first night and it was a welcome sight so I didn't have to cook! I'm not sure how the campground, rates or amenities compare to others in the area, but for a brief quiet nights sleep it was ideal. We camped at South Forty Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Pecan Park RV Resort, Jacksonville, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here on an overnight because of the close proximity to I-95. We didn't notice the close proximity to the international airport until after we arrived. First, this place is really clean and most of the units upscale. We travel in a 2018 22' TT pulled by an f350; our neighbors were all coaches or large fifth wheels. While nobody seemed put off by our presence, nobody went out of their way to speak either. Campsite was plenty large enough, mostly level and water pressure good. WiFi was spotty and we didn't connect to TV. I do wonder why the campground calls itself a resort though; I picture a destination when I pay destination prices. We did find being in a departure path for the airport quite distracting; the noise was sufficient to interrupt conversation. We chose another option for our northbound trip a week later. We camped at Pecan Park RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.
