Angel Fire RV Resort, Angel Fire, New Mexico

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $69.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful place of resort quality. Great Clubhouse, Bunkhouse/laundry, pet area, fire pit and hot tub facilities. The perimeter trail is great to walk as the entire path provides mountain and valley views and beautiful flower plantings. Unfortunately, no dog trash receptacles on the path or anywhere in the park except at the pet area. The picnic tables are not your basic table - very stylish but we wished they'd have traded some of the expense of making them stylish for a simpler table with some shade over them. Some trees throughout will mature to provide some shade but not at most of the sites. We camped at Angel Fire RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There's not much to do in Angel Fire in the summer but golf or fish at the resort lake South of the village. The Vietnam Memorial is exceptional - do not miss it. As much as we enjoyed the resort, we will be camping near Red River in the future for easy access to more trails, more sites (the Rio Grande Gorge is NOT to be missed), more restaurants, more fishing, etc. If you just want a great RV destination to watch the mountains, clouds and birds, this is the place.

High Desert RV Park, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Handy transit location, being located on I-40 (eastbound). Very friendly service on phone when booking though less welcoming on check-in - but who knows what she'd had to deal with before we arrived. Sites are gravel but level. Three pet areas, 2 of which were better for us as our dogs are small and the 3rd pet area did have gaps in the fencing that they could get through but this wouldn't be an issue for many folks. Water pressure is EXCELLENT and that's always a good thing. Access to Albuquerque is very good and we were attending a conference being held in Old Town, so this was a quick 12 minute drive to our event. We camped at High Desert RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We always take the tram to Sandia Peak when here. This time we took it in order to watch the sunset which was spectacular. We had a really good dinner Following the tram ride at the Tram base station at Sandiago's. Good food and super Thursday night live music.

Cochiti Lake COE , Pena Blanca, New Mexico

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Wonderful space to each site as is typical of COE properties. Good trails throughout to enjoy. Nicely situated swimming area on the lake. The Visitors Center is very well done- I spent a couple hours there going through the exhibits. We camped at Cochiti Lake COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Santa Fe Skies RV Park, Santa Fe, New Mexico

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

This is a lovely, friendly place. The owners provide excellent written materials on local restaurants and services. The spaces are typical for a privately owned property but the overall impression is strengthened greatly by the art installations throughout the park. Well done! So handy to have credit card-operated laundry. All sites have concrete pads with tables next to where you park on gravel. Access in/out of Santa Fe is quite good. Will stay here again if we come this way. We camped at Santa Fe Skies RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

RV Resort of Ruidoso, Ruidoso, New Mexico

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Not sure what makes it a "resort" property other than maybe the view? The facility is arranged up the side of a mountain so you have a good view of the opposite mountainside - nice. All spots seem to have a view though you're fairly close to each other. You haul your rig up a steep incline to get into about 2/3rd of the property, FYI. It's missing any easily accessible walking trails. I've been doing a morning walk along HWY 70 which is busy but does have a sidewalk at least. Also missing any fire ring or even space for one. We camped at RV Resort of Ruidoso in a Fifth Wheel.

Eagle Creek RV Resort, Alto, New Mexico

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

While the rigs are parked in very close to each other, it is very shady and there's lots of green. The creek that flows across the front of the property is terrific. There is a very strong sense of community among those who come here, evidently each summer. We enjoy a bit of that but at times it was a little "too" friendly for us, as some solitude is partly what we seek. Not enough walking trails within the property but you have great access to the national forest immediately out of the gates. We camped at Eagle Creek RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

A visit up the mountian in the national forest to Monjeau Lookout is a must-do! We return to Ruidoso regularly to especially visit this amazing CCC structure and the 360 degree views of the mountains. A second site is Ski Apache's ski lift that runs all summer - love the road up there as well, with pull-out areas for panoramic and amazing picture-taking opps.
