Midway Campground Resort (formerly Statesville East I-40 Winston-Salem, Statesville, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2007 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Where do we start ? This campground was quite expensive considering we even received a "teacher's weekend" discount. There are many activities for kids: game room, huge pool, (which is also the "community" pool), jumping pillow, etc. Bingo night was fun. On the other hand, it was not very well maintained. We arrived to a fire pit full of trash. We went to sit on the sun deck only to have my daughter trip over one of the pieces of wood that was sticking up. She ended up with a bleeding knee! There were several spots on the deck that were loose or sticking up! The trash cans around the pool stayed full (and overflowing) until Sunday morning, (all weekend basically). Smoking is permitted everywhere: pool, game room (with kids), pavilion (during bingo), etc. Most sites are mostly dirt with a mix of gravel: very messy. There are many "permanent" residents that make the campground look rundown. This place could be really nice if more care was taken in keeping it up. We camped at Midway Campground Resort (formerly Statesville East I-40 Winston-Salem in a Travel Trailer.

This was our 4th trip to this campground in the past few months. We can't get enough of it! Friendly, helpful staff! There are lots of family activities going on. Nice lake and beautiful river! This campground is always clean. The showers look newly renovated: nice ! This is a wonderful place for children. We can't wait to go back: again!! We camped at Asheville East KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Carowinds Camp Wilderness Resort, Charlotte, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2007 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Very expensive rates for a place that is not kept up very well. There was only one staff person working in and around the grounds. The staff in the office was helpful and friendly. The pool was nice, but had dirt and sand all over the bottom. The tiles in the pool definitely hadn't been cleaned in a while. The lawn chairs were nasty! This is not a campground where you will find family activities going on, if that is what you are looking for. This campground would be good if you are taking a trip to Carowinds or were here for race week. Otherwise??? We camped at Carowinds Camp Wilderness Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA, Fort Mill, South Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2007 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Expensive campground with not a lot to offer. The pool was quite dirty. The tiles had not been cleaned in a while. The pool furniture is falling apart. They do have a nice playground & jumping pillow for kids. The sites are mostly dirt & gravel. We expected way more for the price. We camped at Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA in a Travel Trailer.
