Spring Lake RV Resort, Crossville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Traveling in a 43ft Class A with 4 slides and tow vehicle. This is a very nice small campground that is big rig friendly. We were pleasantly surprised how nice at this price point. We had a back-in site on the pond with a fountain and it had a concrete patio with a swing, table and chairs. Had a great view and it was very quiet. Good Direct TV satellite and AT&T cell service. Good utilities and conveniently located. Would have given a 10 if there were more amenities. We camped at Spring Lake RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Clarksville RV Park & Campground, Clarksville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Traveling in a 43ft Class A with 4 slides and tow vehicle. Campground is located right off I-24 but we did not have any trouble sleeping at night and only heard engine breaks a couple of times. Campground is big rig friendly. Pull through sites were long but site 47 had a tree close so could not extend the awning fully. Level gravel site, good utilities and conveniently located. Good Direct TV satellite and AT&T cell service. Nice pool and was a welcomed surprise that it was still open this time of year. We camped at Clarksville RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Big Springs RV Camp, Van Buren, Missouri

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Traveling in a 43ft Class A with 4 slides and tow vehicle. Small no frills campground conveniently located off the highway and right on the Current River. No amenities. Road to the CG is narrow for a big rig but thankfully no one else was on the road. Interior roads are big rig friendly. Roads and sites are gravel. Site was long enough that we did not have to unhook car. Good utilities and conveniently located. Could not get Direct TVB satellite due to trees but had good AT&T cell service. We camped at Big Springs RV Camp in a Motorhome.

Lambert's Cafe RV Park (formerly Stage Stop RV Park), Ozark, Missouri

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Traveling in a 43ft class A with a tow. This is just a gravel parking lot with full hookups. We made reservations but they are not needed (but was not told that) as this is first come first serve so thankfully there was space available when we arrived. The check-in is entirely self service and there is a credit card kiosk to pay. The campground is located behind Lambert's Café. The sites are not well marked so you do not know which direction to pull in or to angle nor do you know how long your site really is so some places the road narrowed due to trailers sticking out. Sites are close together, good utilities, Direct TV satellite and AT&T cell service. It was quiet at night and served its purpose. We camped at Lambert's Cafe RV Park (formerly Stage Stop RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Branson Stagecoach Campground, Branson, Missouri

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Traveling in a 43ft Class A with 4 slides and tow vehicle. Rate reflects Passport America discount. Small campground but is big rig friendly. Last mile on Hwy 265 is windy, narrow and no shoulders. Not as close to Branson sites as thought but still convenient. Site was long pull through concrete pad. Utilities at the back of site had to unhooked the tow and parked it in front. Good utilities and quiet location. Good Direct TV satellite and AT&T cell service. Pool was open but we did not use it. Restaurant on site. We camped at Branson Stagecoach Campground in a Motorhome.

Maple Lane RV Park, Cuba, New York

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Traveling in a 43ft Class A with 4 slides and tow vehicle. CG is very convenient to I-86. CG is small, clean and staff is very friendly. Sites level, close side to side but enough room to open awning. They are long enough for coach and car and extra room. Roads are big rig friendly. Utilities worked good and were conveniently located. AT&T cell service and Direct TV satellite service was good. The neighboring property target practices on his property every day so it can get noisy at times but not terrible. The volunteer Fire Dept sounds a "call out" alarm that sounds like a tornado warning going off whenever there is a call. There is some noise from the interstate but ran the fan and it was ok. No amenities but there is a lake and casino nearby and the high school has tennis courts. We camped at Maple Lane RV Park in a Motorhome.

Frances Slocum State Park, Wyoming, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Traveling in a 43ft Class A with 4 slides and tow vehicle. Last main road before CG has a weight limit of 20 tons (no option to avoid it). Follow campground directions as GPS tries to take you through back roads that are narrow with lots of turns. Only electric hookups, no sewer or water but there is a dump station. Many of the sites are sloped and hard to level for a big rig. Originally booked site 11 but is was sloped too much front to back and could not level without back wheels off the ground. Moved to site 51 and is probably the nicest for big rigs as it is nearly level and wide with easy back in at an angle. Road from office to sites is long and narrow with a steep hill and there is no where to pull off if another rig is coming through in the opposite direction. Could not get Direct TV satellite due to tree coverage but AT&T cell service was decent. Lots of trails for hiking, nice lake for fishing and boat rentals, swimming pool was closed for the season. We camped at Frances Slocum State Park in a Motorhome.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort at Natural Bridge, Natural Bridge Station, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Traveling in a 43ft Class A with 4 slides and tow vehicle. Rate is an average for the 4 nights that included Passport America discount for 3 days and Good Same for the 4th. The roads from I-81 are a bit windy with no shoulders but doable. Follow the directions provided by the campground as GPS may try to take you on some undesirable roads. Upon arrival you have to go to the office to check-in and then drive around the office and back out to the sites. There are two lanes to register and the road around the office has tight turns especially if both lanes are occupied. Our site was in the U section and is best for big rigs as they are very long and wide but not very level. The sites along Gold Finch Lane are very large but are on a hill and there is no way a big rig could level without the back tires being off the ground. We originally booked U121 but was unable to level so moved to U119. Front end still had to be lifted quite a bit so there was a big step down to the ground but it was decent. 50 amp full hookups with no issues and good Direct TV satellite signal. Good AT&T cell service. Site surface was overgrown gravel. All amenities were closed for the season except the arcade. The grounds had a black fly and fruit fly infestation. Could not open the door without at least 100 of those little suckers coming inside and could not open windows as they fit through the screen holes. The grass was above the ankle so may not be so bad if they kept the grass shorter. Very nice staff. Nice campground and would be great when in season to use all amenities. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort at Natural Bridge in a Motorhome.

Old Cedar Campground, Monroeville, New Jersey

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Traveling in a 43ft Class A with 4 slides and tow vehicle. Interior roads are tight for big rigs. The first turn inside the park has you making a 90 degree turn with a tree on each side of the turn and boundary markers along the asphalt making it difficult to thread through. The turns to the office and the exit have concrete posts at the corners making it tough to make those turns. We stayed along the fence line and to get to that area you will encounter an overhead tree branch that you cannot avoid (no damage) and two other trees to thread through. The fence line sites are the best for big rigs. We booked site 47 through Reserve America after a lengthy conversation with the office about the best spot for our size and satellite signal; however, upon arrival we were told that somehow that spot was double booked and we would have to be in site 35 with no other options. They never contacted us prior to arrival to tell us our booked site was not available; however, they said an email "should have" been sent. Site 35 had soft ground toward the front and we had to adjust a couple times to keep our jacks from sinking into the ground. It has a very large tree that blocks satellite, the sewer is all the way at the back and the water is on the passenger side shared with another site so we had to run our hose under the coach. Some may need a sewer and water hose extension. We had multiple conversations with the office about moving to another site and they told us that we could not move for 3 days because they were booked. For those 3 days our original booked site stayed vacant. Eventually we ended up in site 50 which was a little shorter but decent and the sites are wide so we could park the car next to the coach. Heavy rains while we were there and many sites were flooded. The pool was closed for the season, the arcade only open 2 hours a day and the tennis courts were laughable as the surface was rough chip sealed so not usable. We camped at Old Cedar Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Elephant Swamp trail runs beside the campground and is great for a bike ride, walk or run. CG also has a trail that goes to a nearby winery that has live music on Thursdays. It is a fairly long walk (15 minutes) and make sure to bring a flashlight if returning after dark as there are no lights or lighted signage back to the campground.

My Brother's Place Campground, Houlton, Maine

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Traveling in a 43ft Class A with 4 slides and tow vehicle. Stayed here twice while entering/exiting Canada. Campground conveniently located near the Canadian border. Entrance road was a little tight for a big rig with tow with the curves and trees but manageable. No frills campground but a great place to stop over. Sites are long, wide and mostly level but did have to park a little diagonal for leveling. All grass sites but no issues even with heavy rains. Good Direct TV satellite signal but there was no AT&T cell service and wifi was weak. Full hookup sites and all utilities were good and conveniently located. Some reviews indicated that the owner/host was rude but we encountered just the opposite. He was straight to the point but polite. We camped at My Brother's Place Campground in a Motorhome.

Streamside RV & Golf, Pulaski, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Traveling in a 43ft Class A with 4 slides and tow vehicle. Rate reflects stay and play rate for golf. Small, quiet campground conveniently located near I-81. Park is clean, has large sites with plenty of room between neighbors. No restrooms or showers for campground and washer/dryer were located in a shed close to sites. Mostly seasonal sites but a few transient. Sites are grass with some gravel for the parking pad. Utilities conveniently located, good Direct TV satellite signal and good AT&T cell service. Located on a golf course, very friendly staff/owners and restaurant on site. We camped at Streamside RV & Golf in a Motorhome.

Four Mile Creek State Park, Youngstown, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Traveling in a 43ft Class A with 4 slides and tow vehicle. Rate shown includes the reservation fee paid. Large state park with electric only. Very large grass sites that had plenty of room between neighbors. Convenient to Niagara Falls, clean grounds and right on Lake Ontario. Roads to campground and interior park roads are big rig friendly. Direct TV satellite is visible at this park in most sites and AT&T service was decent. We stayed in site 65 which had two downfalls. 1) there is a very large tree that blocks Direct TV satellite unless you have a mobile satellite that you can locate at the back of the site. 2) On the passenger side of the site, right at the road is a 4'x4' square storm drain that sits about 2 feet below the road surface which makes backing into this site difficult as it sits right where your wheels would run but the drop is 2 feet. We turned around and came in the opposite direction from what was recommended and were able to avoid the drain. That size drain is necessary as there were heavy rains during our stay and without it many sites would have flooded, it is just inconveniently located right at the site. We camped at Four Mile Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Brennan Beach RV Resort, Pulaski, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

Traveling in a 43ft Class A with 4 slides and tow vehicle. Rate reflects Thousand Trails membership. This is a large park with a big section for seasonals. We would have been able to fit in almost all of the transient spaces. Spaces near the office are level but not all get satellite. We were in site C2 and could not get Direct TV satellite. AT&T cell service was bad. Site was a pull thru but had to back out of the site to leave otherwise the left turn at the end of the road would have been tight. Noticed that site C3 has a wall with multiple power meters on it and a tree that makes that site a little tight to get in and out of. Had to help the neighbor get out of that site. Good utilities and conveniently located. Interior roads are big rig friendly. Park gets very busy on the weekends. Nice beach right on Lake Ontario. Lot of activities/amenities and there was a live band while we were there. Tennis courts need to be repaired to use as there are many large open cracks. We camped at Brennan Beach RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Patten Pond RV Campground, Ellsworth, Maine

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

Traveling in a 43ft Class A with 4 slides and tow vehicle. Rate reflects Trails Collection membership. Unlike Thousand Trails parks, sites are assigned here. The road to the campground is gravel but is maintained so there were only a few tiny potholes. The spaces near the office are open and easy to get into. We had a pull through site in the wooded area near the lake. Interior roads are a little narrow but manageable in a big rig and had a few low hanging branches that could not be avoided but nothing that caused any scratches. There are big rocks that line the sites and corners so need to be careful navigating. Neighbors moved their vehicle to make it easier for us to get into our site but was not necessary. The site across from us was empty when we left which made it easy for us to get out. Our space was a little skinny but big enough for all slides to be extended. All utilities were conveniently located and worked well. Could not get satellite reception due to the tree coverage but cable TV worked well. Big, pretty lake on site for swimming, boats, jet skis, paddle boards and kayaks. Kayaks can be rented from the office. Staff was friendly. We camped at Patten Pond RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Hampton Beach State Park, Hampton, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Traveling in a 43ft Class A with 4 slides and tow vehicle. This campground is right on Hampton Beach. There were no hookup sites available so stayed in the overflow area. Felt $30 for no hookups was a little expensive but location is convenient. Dump station is available but an extra $15.00. Was in a pull through site that did not have a picnic table but the back in sites had them. The overflow area is really just an open field with painted lines but plenty of room for all slides and tow vehicle. Generators can be run three times a day. We camped at Hampton Beach State Park in a Motorhome.
