Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

The real downside to this has not to do with the facilities - beautiful park - but the fact that it is far from the most desirable places to see in the area. The Manager is excellent and nearly all the staff are great and friendly as well. Unlike most of the parks we have been to they do not sell propane. Not so much a big deal except the closest place to get it is about 20 miles away. If you are on a site near Barrett Road you will have truck noise of quarry trucks going back and forth - but rv parks tend to have road noise, railroad noise, airport noise, etc. They have a waffle day and probably the best waffle and trimmings I have seen ANYPLACE. Wildlife - not human - is both good and bad. I think most people here are long term. Everyone very nice. Once settled in we saw that our site was the one that was on the cover of their brochure! We camped at Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Grape Creek RV Park Campground and Cabins, Westcliffe, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

This is our 183rd RV park we have stayed at in our 19 years part time RVing and this is the first 10 I have given. Always said nothing is perfect but this is as close as you can come. Owners are such outstanding people, the place is spotless and kept up beautifully. The views are breathtaking - and I am a semi-professional photographer in my retirement. And the only RV park I have ever seen with a piano in the laundry room (honest!). We camped at Grape Creek RV Park Campground and Cabins in a Fifth Wheel.

Grants / Cibola Sands KOA, Grants, New Mexico

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed three nights to do some local hiking / visiting historic natural sites, etc. Small? 49 well spaced sites. Older yes. But kept up so well and so clean. Free breakfast was fine - basic, yes, but fine - - with clean table(s) area. Owners were wonderful and went more than the extra mile for us with some 5th wheel issues and other things. We camped at Grants / Cibola Sands KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We were here for El Morro and hiked the beautiful loop once again. El Morro is so special............the hike along the top fabulous and the views outstanding. We also went to the Ice Cave and Volcano. The ice cave is a once in a lifetime thing to see. And the shop and people there were fantastic.

K-Bar RV Resort, Show Low, Arizona

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We stay here for overnight or so when passing through. Staff is great. Park is clean and well kept and well wooded. Mostly long term. For overnight ask for Site B - it is about 50' pullthru. Very tight and packed in however. We camped at K-Bar RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Gila Bend KOA (formerly Augie's Quail Trail RV Park), Gila Bend, Arizona

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

As people on here know, I do not give a 10; nobody is perfect (well, maybe my wife!). Very nice staff, clean and wide. They have put a lot of hard work and money into this place in the year it has been a KOA. And much more coming. HIGHLY recommend it! We camped at Gila Bend KOA (formerly Augie's Quail Trail RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated), Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Trailer Village has improved immensely since the first time we were there some years back - we have been there 7 or 8 times ---- we LOVE the Grand Canyon (and I have sold a lot of pictures of images I have shot there!) It is NOT a campground - they tell you it is an RV Park. All sites now are asphalt pull thrus. However, you would have though someone could have made sure on the side to side level; not good sometimes. But with all the high traffic there they do a great job. It is clean and staff are great. They take reservations 13 months in advance and you best have a reservation or the chances are next to nil that you will get in. And no place else to go as Mather will be booked solid as well. We have reservations for 6 nights next September. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Fifth Wheel.

To tell people you have SEEN the Grand Canyon and not just BEEN to the Grand Canyon you have to see it at sunrise and sunset with the shadows and color. I am fortunate to have gotten many shots that are purchased on paper and canvas.

Leaf Verde RV Resort, Buckeye, Arizona

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here several times over the years. It is usually our last stop for overnight (or couple of nights) when coming home to Tucson area from this direction. Mainly we stop as they have a great laundry and we like to get that done before home. Pros are that it is a very clean park and the laundry and a good dog park. But the cons include it is dusty gravel parking lot with no shade trees. They no longer take Good Sam - that is a fact. There is no TV. And there is only one place to dump trash which is up by the office and that can be a long way away. We would stay there again because of the proximity for us to meet our purpose. We camped at Leaf Verde RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Whitney Portal was a mess with road construction so we passed on it this year. Did Horseshoe Meadows and that is an "interesting" drive up and down. And hiked up top. Tourist town prices in town - very unhappy with the grocery store once again....high prices and fruits and veggies were very dated to the point of being spoiled in some cases. But you have no real choices so load up before you get there.

Likely Place RV & Golf Resort, Likely, California

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This is our 4th stay here and it just has continued to improve over the years - really a nice park. Laundry is very small but spotless and we always use it. Highly recommend this as an overnight or few days - can't golf anymore due to shoulder surgery but course looked quite nice. We camped at Likely Place RV & Golf Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Take their Nature Walk. Nice.

See the General Store in town and buy a great T shirt along with other things. They have both diesel and regular fuel available as well. Been a family business for a long time and just a great place. Make sure you tour the basement.

Silver City RV Resort, Minden, Nevada

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Others say it very well. Our semi concrete pad was broken up as well and roads are narrow getting in and all of the site. Fuel was very fair priced but store was very expensive ($2.50 for a one liter of soda / pop as example). Needs owner maintenance as rules for resident site maintenance. We camped at Silver City RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Collier Memorial State Park, Chiloquin, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This is a repeat park for us - we love it. Had site B-05 which is a long pull thru and is great. The park is heavily and beautifully wooded. Roads and sites can be a bit tight and, as a neighbor found out when pulling in, the trees don't move! The trails along the stream and river are great. Only downside is that it is / can be dusty dirty. We camped at Collier Memorial State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Bandon By The Sea RV Park, Bandon, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park - have stayed here in the past as it is a great place to do laundry amongst other things ( but not cheap). Younger woman in the office was so talkative on the phone I had to wait 10+ minutes to check in. Paid and all and she told me the site. No instructions or even a map until I asked for it. All other staff were great. As said, the small spaces between the sites were dead grass and dead bushes. And same all around the common areas in the park. We camped at Bandon By The Sea RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Cascade Locks / Portland East KOA, Cascade Locks, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Good site but people on one side were so close their firepit and table were right next to our hookups and slides - we got lots of smoke. But trains are constant and very loud. We asked what the hot tub temp is kept and told 104; this is perfect. We go on a hike, come back and change and head to the hot tub. It did not appear clean but we chose to use it anyhow - temp could not have be even 80. wife is a lifelong swimmer and swimming instructor (in the past)....she knows temps! Went to the office and told them and they just shrugged their shoulders. We camped at Cascade Locks / Portland East KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Cannon Beach RV Resort, Cannon Beach, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This was our 4th time here. The Manager is a wonderful, hard working lady - as are the staff members. Sometimes requests are not well addressed but we did not have anything major....if major I know it would be addressed promptly. They are packed full during the high season. It is very shady at the sites...very nice. They are working on more upgrading. WiFi was pretty much standard for an RV park; not great but seems it always got better once the server came out and "tweaked and re-booted" it. God willing, we will make the trip one more time before we have to forego our rv travel - now in the 19th year part time. It is a long way from AZ! Walk the beaches !!!! Indian Beach in Ecola State Park, Hug Point (at low tide), south from Mo's. Do like I did - shoot lots of pictures of the beaches and Haystack Rock - I shot about 900+ images in the three weeks (but I am now a pro photographer since people want to buy from me!) The bakery in town is outstanding.
