Moss Landing KOA Express, Moss Landing, California

Date of Stay: August, 2007 - $85.00
Overall Rating:

Moss Landing was one of our favorite places to camp. A real value at $44.00 a night. Last January the park was sold and there was a slight price increase. This past summer the new owners decided to make it a KOA campground and raised the prices to $86.00 if you pay $26.00 for an annual KOA pass, your rate is $77.00 for the first two adults in your party. You pay extra for extra people and any pets. The occupancy tax is 15%, so a weekend stay at this park will run you over $200.00. This is a 100% price increase from last year's pricing. We will not support campgrounds that gouge the public and will not be returning to this RV park, no matter how nice it is. We camped at Moss Landing KOA Express in a Fifth Wheel.

The Lakes RV & Golf Resort, Chowchilla, California

Date of Stay: April, 2007 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is a real up-scale, new RV park and Golf Course. The park is beautiful, nicely landscaped. We had a site that backed up to the man-made lake front. It's quite warm in this area most of the year and trees are not very tall as the park is fairly new. The managers were great and very helpful. Sites were level and the WiFi worked great. Each site has a paved RV parking area and nice large patio area as well as well manicured grass surrounding your site. They had a really nice fenced pet area and a private gate to the golf course right behind the RV park. Golf is free for the folks who stay at the RV park. This is a gated RV park, you are given your own electronic gate opening when you register. Very nice, we will definitely go back here! We camped at The Lakes RV & Golf Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

New Brighton State Beach, Capitola, California

Date of Stay: January, 2007 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

New Brighton State campground is a wonderful campground with the best of both worlds. It's located on the bluff above the Capitola beach. It's a nice wooded area, so you are really camping in the woods! Sites are nice and big and fairly level. There are a handful of sites that have water & electric hookups, but most have no amenities except a paved level site. There is a dump station on the premises. New Brighton State Campground is close to downtown Capitola as well as Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. A great family campground. The only draw back, it's so popular, it's hard to get a campsite! We camped at New Brighton State Beach in a Fifth Wheel.
