Mesa Campground, Gunnison, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2013 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Nice place with a friendly reception staff. We stayed on a premium site with the hot tub on site. Wife loved that. The tub chlorine level was too much for us though. Site was very narrow because of the distance between the hook up side fence and the hot tub left us with just 5-6" of space from the slide outs on each side. We would return again, probably will look for a wider site though. We camped at Mesa Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Glenwood Canyon Resort, Glenwood Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

Wow, this place must be under new management since we were here 2 years ago. We were very disappointed to say the least. Upon checking in, I handed my Good Sam card to the girl checking us in. She said, "Oh we don't give discounts anymore". Then she asked me if we had dogs. " Yes, we have 2," I told her. Then she said it's $5 per dog per night. We have camped all over the US at 100's of parks and never heard of a dog fee. I asked why a dog fee? She said that's our policy. That's pet friendly? I call it greed. Then we go to our premium site and realize that whoever laid out the utilities has never used an RV. The sewer connection is all the way out by the street. It was literally 40' from the electric hook ups. Then the premium sites were solid weeds and very unkempt. The parking lot (RV site area) is the main street used by daily visitors. Speeding cars and lots of dust. No resort amenities here. Wow, so sad this place went downhill like it did. Won't be back. We camped at Glenwood Canyon Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Chokoloskee Island Park Campground, Chokoloskee Island, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2009 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

The restrooms are like new and super clean! There are 3 swimimg pools and hot tubs. The view over Chokoloskee Bay and the Everglades National Park is fantastic. Wow!!! What a fantastic park! The lots are individually owned, so the owners have all landscaped them nicely. There is a marina on the property for bait, tackle, ice, etc. Very quiet after 8pm which is very nice! GREAT PLACE! We camped at Chokoloskee Island Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Balsam Woods Campground, Abbot Village, Maine

Date of Stay: August, 2007 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We loved it! Husband and wife owners were very pleasant and always happy! We had a wooded site located in the back of the campground. The campground is located near the entrance of thousands of miles of the maintained ATV trail system. All ATV's were located in an upper lot so that the campers could not hear or see them and did not even know they were in ATV heaven. I would absolutely stay there again! We camped at Balsam Woods Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA, Bar Harbor, Maine

Date of Stay: August, 2007 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

Our "deluxe ocean front site" that we booked in April for an August visit was poor. We overlooked a small finger of the bay and had a great up close view of the Trenton bridge that everyone must use to enter and exit Bar Harbor and all of Mt. Desert Island. Lots of highway traffic noise! Other sites were very close together in an open field without any trees. Some so close that awnings could not be opened up. On the bright side it was clean and lots of staff to answer questions. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Travel Trailer.
