Country Acres Campground, Gordonville, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

We have been full timing for 14 years. This is the most well-kept RV park that we have found. The sites are spacious and level. There is gravel throughout the grounds and the interior roads are wide and easily navigated. The shower and restroom facilities are immaculate. There is a good-sized swimming pool and a small doggy park. Our site had plenty of room, had excellent facilities, and was wide open for satellite reception. The WIFI was consistent and reasonably fast. The location of the campground is just off a very busy route 30. The main roads - at least during the time of our stay - were surprisingly congested. But things quiet down quickly on the back roads where you must be aware of the Amish buggies. I am reluctant to give the campgrounds we visit a 10 rating. This one is an exception! We camped at Country Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

Black Bear Campground, Florida, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $90.00
Overall Rating:

We visited this campground ten years ago when the interior roads were dirt. They have upgraded to black top, which is an improvement, but needs some resurfacing. It is an uphill climb to most of the sites but very doable. The sites are level with good utilities and WIFI available on site. We were surprised to find a relatively empty campground during our stay. That might be due to overpricing. There is a smallish pool near the office that is nice but requires a trip down the hill and back. There is a NYC tour available from the campground, but we did not take it. We did take in a Broadway show that required a two-hour trip via car and train to get there. But the drive and train ride were pleasant and the day in New York was fun. We camped at Black Bear Campground in a Motorhome.

Ashuelot River Campground, Swanzey, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

You need to get across the river from route 10 to get to this campground that lies at the end of Pine Road. Even our motorhome GPS (that knows our size and weight) tried to direct us over a covered bridge with 3 ton and 8-foot limits. The best bet is to follow the campground website's directions or to follow the small green campground directional signs that point the way to the bridge over the river. When we arrived, we found an extremely wide-open and spacious facility run by exceptionally friendly hosts. Our site was full-hookup 50-amp and all utilities worked well. There is no WIFI at the sites, although it is available near the office. About a half mile up the road from the campground is an entry to the Ashuelot River Rail Trail that provides a relatively smooth bicycle riding surface into the town of Keene four miles away. You can connect there to another rail trail if you are looking for more distance. There is a decent restaurant just north of the campground on route 10 and many other choices in Keene. We camped at Ashuelot River Campground in a Motorhome.

Camping Alouette, St-Mathieu-de-Beloeil, Quebec

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed at Camping Aloutte a few times and always been satisfied. They are placing more emphasis on being owned by Parkbridge. We booked one of their newer premium sites that included a swinging dining table. The site was spacious enough for our 40-foot motorhome and tow. Satellite reception was excellent, and the utilities worked well. For the first few days of our stay we had excellent Wi-Fi at the site. But then we had none. According to office personnel they had problems with the antenna serving our site for over a month. They were surprised to learn that we had good Wi-Fi for a few days. The campground location is OK for visiting Montreal, but traffic is heavy. In the past we have used the metro to get around. This time we drove to see friends northeast of the city and later to visit the botanical gardens. Traffic toward Montreal was very heavy. We camped at Camping Alouette in a Motorhome.

Camping Transit, Levis, Quebec

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is located on a quiet road about a three-mile drive from route 20. It still backs up to route 20 and that means a little road noise, but not bad. Most of the sites are pull thru sites with 50-amps available for an extra charge. Good Wi-Fi is also available for an extra charge. Most of the sites are also satellite friendly. The road in front of the campground is quiet enough for bike riding and you can reach a nice bike path after a 4-mile road ride. Access to Quebec City is available via a ferry that is about 20 minutes by car from the campground. There is also a shuttle available that runs twice a day. Shopping and restaurants are available by car about 10 to 15 minutes away. We camped at Camping Transit in a Motorhome.

Narrows Too Camping Resort - Thousand Trails, Trenton, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

Free shuttle bus service to Bar Harbor began for the season on June 23. We used the buses to get around on four different days. Although the service was uneven with some breakdowns throwing routes off schedule, the service was adequate to get us where we wanted to go in a reasonable time. The RV park provides many open sites (great for satellite reception) with decent Wi-Fi. We had a large site with 50-amp full-hookup service and plenty of room for our 40-foot motorhome and tow vehicle. The price was high but commensurate with other campgrounds near Acadia National Park. There is a large area for dogs to run free that is fenced on one end and confined by bushes around the rest of the perimeter. We spent a week at Narrows Too and found it to be a good place from which to explore the national park. We camped at Narrows Too Camping Resort - Thousand Trails in a Motorhome.

Jones Station RV Park, Mebane, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is a magnificently maintained RV park. Every site, except one, is a 50-amp full-hookup site with most appearing to be quite level. We happened to be in the one site without sewer when we stayed during a holiday weekend. The entire park is groomed with white gravel with plenty of room for maneuvering. The showers and restrooms are immaculate. It is not a park that provides organized activities for children. But it was an outstanding spot for two adults like us. Although the park is on a back road, there are many excellent commercial areas within a five-mile radius. We really enjoyed our stay. We camped at Jones Station RV Park in a Motorhome.

Myrtle Beach Travel Park, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

If you are looking for beach, this is a great campground. It is also a campground that provides facilities and activities attractive young people and some for older people. It is a large facility with nearly a half mile of beach front. Many of the sites have 50-amp full-hookups. The sites are not classy, but they are functional. The hard sand surfaces work as a surface for your rv but inevitably result in sand inside your home. We are motorhomers so did not pay much attention to the camping and smaller unit sites, but they appeared to be serviceable. There are a large number of park models in the wooded lake area behind the beach front section. We had AT&T service and a clear view for satellite reception. Power, sewer and water services were all good. There are a number of strategically located shower/restroom facilities that are modern and well maintained. A breakfast restaurant is located on the beachfront and, of course, there are copious numbers of eatery in the surrounding area. We camped at Myrtle Beach Travel Park in a Motorhome.

Stone Mountain Heights Mobile Home Park, Stone Mountain, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This not a campground for campers who are looking for activities or amenities. It has no restrooms or showers, no meeting rooms, and no planned activities. But it is a great choice for someone looking for a reliable full hookup and a quiet place to stay in a commercially busy area. The park is very large and spread out but has a limited number of sites available for transients. There are a substantial number of permanent residents but also many unused potential sites available for improvement to a level where they could accommodate a unit. While not at all a typical RV park, we enjoy staying here. It provides a nice site in a good location and plenty of space. Since we are full-timers who are self-contained, we do not require the showers or other amenities. For us, this is a high rated park. We camped at Stone Mountain Heights Mobile Home Park in a Motorhome.

Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping, Mackinaw City, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a huge campground and the sites vary widely in different parts. We stayed in an extra large site in the 900 section. Our site was adjacent to a wifi tower and the wifi there was well worth the extra cost. We also were able to get satellite from our site. The views of the bridge from the park are a nice feature. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Motorhome.

River Park Campground, Menominee, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a pretty park that can be hard to find as it is over the railroad track behind the Kmart. The turns were a little tight for our 40' motorhome but manageable. The riverfront is very nice with a view of a shipyard across the river in Wisconsin. Very few sites will allow for satellite TV. Sites vary in length so some will only accommodate smaller units. We camped at River Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Hy-Land Court RV Park, Ellison Bay, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very well run campground. The open sites for big rigs provides 50-amp full hookups with open sky and excellent wifi. For those who prefer the wooded sites, they appeared to be very roomy. The bathroom area is old but well-maintained. The location is convenient to Sister Bay and Washington Island. We camped at Hy-Land Court RV Park in a Motorhome.

Scheffel's Hideaway Campground, Two Rivers, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We spent a week at Scheffel's Hideaway in a 40-foot motorhome. The site was wide and reasonably level with 50-amp full hookup. The two negatives were weak wifi and hard water. The park is adjacent to a state park and there is a terrific hiking/biking trail called the Rawley Point Trail immediately accessible from the campground. The showers and restrooms were immaculate. There is a restaurant (closed on Monday and Tuesday) immediately adjacent to the campground. We camped at Scheffel's Hideaway Campground in a Motorhome.

Seabreeze B&B and RV Park, Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

The community of Cow Head is an area worth at least a week-long stay. We spent two weeks here and enjoyed the Gros Morne Theatre Festival a couple of times, the local restaurants, the beautiful trails on the adjacent peninsula, as well as the attractions of Gros Morne National Park. The B&B/RV Park is very well managed and features eight large level gravel sites with full hookups (30-amp). The Wi-Fi was excellent. On reasonably clear days we were even able to access DirecTV with our rooftop dish. The view from the campground is an added bonus. The rate we paid was a weekly rate in Canadian dollars. We camped at Seabreeze B&B and RV Park in a Motorhome.
