Niagara Falls KOA, Grand Island, New York

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $71.00
Overall Rating:

Office staff friendly and knowledgeable, assisting me with a financial issue, and did it well. Office store is well stocked. I needed to replace a TV cable, they had them there. My wife has a physical issue with walking. All we had to do is call the office and they sent a cart driven by a KOA employee to take us to the office from our site, so we could go on a tour bus. Then after we got back from the tour, they drove us back to our site. Cable worked well, with our new TV cable. And Wifi provided by TengoInternet worked 85 percent of the time well. The other 15 percent would work very slow and a few times there was a disconnection of internet. Park is very clean. There is a tour bus company that provide tours to the nearby Falls and points of interest along the Niagara River and its islands. You can hear the highway traffic from the most rearward sites. We camped at Niagara Falls KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Tour bus does not have a "kneeling" feature..so first step is high. Tour bus goes directly to the bus benches...sit at the bus benches, by the KOA office so you will not have to walk far to board the bus. Ask for a cart to pick you up, if you have a disability for walking. The KOA store also carries USA postal stamps. I tired twice to give a tip to the KOA cart driver, for taking us to and from our site to the office...but they graciously declined it.

Meadowbrook Camping Area, Phippsburg, Maine

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

What makes this rv park good, is the evening dinners , available after 5 pm every day..in our case lobster dinners at very reasonable prices. you get to chose your lobster from the holding sea water area. Toilet and showers are clean, a bit on the older side. Office staff is very friendly..and helpful. We were there at beginning of the season, in May, not too many campers there at this time and a bit on the cold side. It is a ways from the main roads..but worth it. They specialize also in Clam Chowder with Clams, Fish and Shrimp. They also have corn on the cob and baked potato on the menu. Office refrigerator has lots of beer and wine selections for your dinner. Excellent value for your money at this campground, especially if you get a discount, like we did for Passport America. We camped at Meadowbrook Camping Area in a Motorhome.

Make sure you select your lobster and order your lobster at a time you want it prepared. They start at 5 pm... In addition to Lobster the menu includes other sea food specialties. They offer details on how to take the lobster apart to eat it...we enjoyed the experience.

Sandy Beach Resort, Contoocook, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Office staff ladies were great ! The computer had been off for 3 hours. She did a good job, not working with a computer..and allowed us to go to a site, later, a few hours later, the computer came back "on"and she verified the reservation we had made a few days earlier. The WiFi is very slow, we were within eye sight of the office, where the WiFi was located. The good news, we got 8 hours of free WiFi from the young lady at the office. The other nice lady tried real hard to get us hooked up to the Cable TV service. She was trying all the unmarked cable "on" site switches, but to no avail. So we got our $4 cable refund and disconnected. The sites are ample...and because we got there on May 8th at the start of their season, the place was fairly empty. Sewer connection at A26 is at about a 30 degree angle. So we simply stuck the raw end of our sewer flexible discharge line into their sewer line receptor and it worked fine. Our electric and water was on a down slope, you had to be careful not to fall down the slope, but the water and electricity worked fine. All in all, I would return for an over night stay..but without cable and WiFi, it would not be an inviting place to stay for a longer time. It is set in a nice forest environment. Office has a small store..good for temporary food. I liked the place. By the way, please be careful of the old covered bridge..it says it has a 9'9inch clearance, but my rig made it through, and we are 11 feet 3 inches in height. I checked the clearance before attempting to enter the covered bridge...and observed it was around 12 feet or more..so I went thru without a problem. I suspect the fake lower height is to discourage heavy rigs from using the old historic covered bridge. There is a short detour around to the south of the bridge to reach the park destination. I think it was a good value for my Passport America discount. We camped at Sandy Beach Resort in a Motorhome.

Be careful of the historic covered bridge that says 9 feet 9 inches clearance...it is really higher than that...but it will discourage big heavy rigs. There is a detour around the bridge to the south ..our rig was 11 feet 3 inches and made it through...I eye balled the height, and looks like 12 feet...just be careful...measure the height, first before attempting going thru the covered bridge...or just go around it..

Brandywine Creek Campground, Downingtown, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Do not trust your GPS, take a look at the website for directions, before driving to the park. There is a very nice creek running along side of the campground. About three TV Stations are available "over the air", if you aim the antennae the correct angle. Sewer connection is a little different. The sewer pipe is horizontal at site 45 with a 90 elbow. The bathrooms are individual bathroom/showers. Good camping ambiance. The WiFi is free. There are two locations in the park. WiFi is good enough. The GPS issue might be that the internet has the town as Glenmoore but the receipt shows the town as Lyndell We camped at Brandywine Creek Campground in a Motorhome.

As you drive in, the office signage is on a tree, some what smaller than the 5 mph speed limit...we missed the office turn off, but the check- in man rode a bicycle and caught up with us. If you get lost, the lady answering the phone will give you good directions. Best way, from Highway 30 is Highway 322 called Manor Rd.

Sunshine Holiday RV & Mobile Home Park, Oakland Park, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

I was there during the "off season" plenty of empty spaces. Office lady was very nice and efficient. She told me I could pull thru instead of back up, because of some many empty spaces. Swimming pool was clean. Bathrooms clean, the Men's bathroom had a hole in the exterior wall, hole did not go through to the outside. Over the air TV was good. I paid for internet service the signal was very strong, five bars out of five bars...but the internet speed was very very very slow, terribly slow. I had my external laptop amplified antennae that received the signal very well, but the internet was the slowest I have experienced, so far. Laundry facilities were very clean. I would use this place again, but not purchase the internet wifi service...it is a waste of money. My 30 amp power pedestal connection did not function. So I used the adjacent power pedestal, there was no one using that space. I would use the park during the off season because of the passport discount...but would not purchase the internet wifi service. We camped at Sunshine Holiday RV & Mobile Home Park in a Motorhome.

Goldcoaster RV Resort, Homestead, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

The park is really a mobile home park with a few spaces scattered around for an RV. Over the air television is good. No WiFi reception at my space 114. There is good WiFi at the Clubhouse. Clubhouse and bathrooms are immaculate. There is a guarded security entrance 24 hours a day. Felt very safe. Park is kept up, very well. There is a very large clean swimming pool available, but when I was there it was closed for maintenance. We camped at Goldcoaster RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Sunshine Key RV Resort & Marina, Big Pine Key, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

The restaurant/snack bar is closed in April for the season, due to the snow birds leaving. The pool was open. Office personnel are very nice and efficient. Has nice sitting room adjacent to the main office with free coffee. Has free WiFi for those at Pool area and Office area. I could not pick up the Wifi with my external range extending antennae at my site. So I paid for the camp commerical option. The signal was five bars out of five bars..excellent signal but extremely frustrating very slow internet. I tried the 3 wifi locations. Very slow "for pay internet" . Cable TV was excellent. Grounds are clean. Very safe feeling. I got the Passport America discount. Be warned not to drive your rig to Key West, they have a restriction to prohibit over sized vehicles parking on city streets...it was a $75 fine. There is a public bus that stops in front of the RV park...but when it drops you off, it is on the other side of a busy 50 mph speed limit highway. You will have to sprint over to the safe side...and not trip or fall...or you are a goner. There a personal chauffeur service for around $50 per person to take you to Key West from the park. I only gave a 7 to the park due to the poor 'for pay' internet. I will use this park again, when I can, as long as I get the Passport discount. I forgot to mention they have a very nice marina and a chevron gas station adjacent to the Park. We camped at Sunshine Key RV Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

Catalina Spa RV Resort, Desert Hot Springs, California

Overall Rating:

There is an additional resort fee, charged to coast to coast members. It has increased, upper level is $17.50 a night and lower level is $12.50 a night. Lower level has 30 amp electrical service with a Clubhouse and Hot Springs Swimming pool and a separate Spa. We stayed at upper level, to be near the upper level Clubhouse and Swimming pools. We have been here several times over the past 10 years, we like the area and facilities, although at this time the lower Clubhouse and Swimming pools were shut down due to major remodeling. We miss the lower Clubhouse and Swimming pool. Look forward to when they are back "on line". We camped at Catalina Spa RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Arizona Oasis RV Resort , Ehrenberg, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

Overnight stay with Passport America discount. Staff answered phone, when I called for reservation...she did a good job. At the office, I was helped and processed in a professional and friendly manner. I overheard a phone call about a person having problems connecting to the television Cable connection, the office personnel cared about the call, and I listened as the she had a three way communication with the customer and tech person on how to resolved the issue. I had no problem with connecting to the television Cable system. The office issues you a Cable television remote control device with instructions on how to "pair" it to my RV television set. They asked me to phone them, if I had any problems. But, the remote device some how paired itself to my TV, after I followed the instruction and everything connected. If you leave before the office opens at 9 am, there is a drop off box where the Cable TV remote control can be left, thru a slot that drops into a secure location. Excellent selection of Cable Television stations. The WiFi service was excellent, I had a direct line of sight to the remote transmitter. After checking-in at the office, you are given a code to have the RV Gate security gate open up. The slope from the office thru the security road gate is a bit steep, but not a problem. Sites were clean. Some of the sewer holes lacked sewer caps. I did not try the clean swimming pool which is at the top, near where the office is located. I would return here again. We camped at Arizona Oasis RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Asphalt spaces adjacent to the back of the Casino parking lot. You select an empty space, hook up and go to the registration desk inside the casino and give them your space number and pay. You get a paper with your release date and information on the free WiFi. The WiFi is very good. There is no Cable hook ups for the RV spaces. There was a large Trash Can at each space. Some of the sites are not entirely level. The laundry room is inside the Casino Building and the Restrooms also. There is a full restaurant inside the Casino and a Cafe/Bar area also and of course the gambling rooms. We camped at Tonopah Station RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Nice time of the year to visit, some mild rain, but it blows over fast. Not crowded at all. Nice walk to the beach from the RV park. But, you have to walk over some large rocks to enter the area under the highway bridge to reach the beach. If you walk with a cane, you will not be able to navigate over the rocks. The large Blue Bldg in the middle of the grounds has individual bathroom/showers. The check-in process was friendly and quickly processed us through. The showers have hot water, but you first have to run the wash basin hot water for about one minute, until the hot water reaches the wash basin, then shut off the wash basin and turn on the hot water in the shower. The walk to the beach is beautiful, but the start of the trail to walk under the bridge has large rocks...you will need good agility to make it over the rocks. Not advisable for people with canes and trouble walking or lifting their feet.

Riverside Resort RV Park, Laughlin, Nevada

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

We were here in the very hot hot day of July 31st 2014. The motor home cabin air conditioner could barely keep up cooling the interior. I would not recommend coming here in the hot summer months. There is no free Wi-Fi at the park...it costs $8.99 a day for Internet. However, the nearby Outlet Center Mall has free Wi-Fi and Starbucks at the Aquarius Casino has free Wi-Fi. Not happy to have to pay so high of a price for Internet! The RV park is located very conveniently to the Riverside Casino and the Outlet Mall. I have no issue with the park, it has all the amenities of a good park, minus the Wi-Fi, one of the few parks I have visited that charge so much for Internet service. The office staff are friendly and even offer advice on how to get free Internet at the other locations I mentioned. I like this park in the Spring and Fall, when the weather is more mild and less extreme. We camped at Riverside Resort RV Park in a Motorhome.
