Joe and Caroline, park owners were great. Very hospitable even during the Thanksgiving Holiday. They were having their time with kids visiting, and the campground was quiet. Trout pond was closed and to be honest, it was a bit too cold to fish. Lows were in the low 20's. Nice, quiet, clean, no frills. Great little stream and a common area under a pavilion with coffee makers, microwave, chairs, fireplace, fridge, etc. It is out not really close to any grocery store, etc but that is what we were looking for. Drive up 28N to Fontana Dam is just beautiful. Alot of site seeing. Fontana about 15 miles, Bryson City about 20 miles and Asheville 65 miles.

Park was meticulous in every way. Restrooms and showers were very clean. Grounds were well maintained. Many shady spots available. All RV pads nice and level concrete with large gravel pads with fire rings and covered picnic tables. Dump station very clean and easily accessible no matter what size rig you have. Located directly on the river and a short walk to the locks. Footbridge access allows you to view boats traveling through the locks. We saw many manatees while camping. Only drawback is the dumpsters are located on either end of the campground loop which is probably a half mile walk. We stayed mid way so it was a bit of a walk but we enjoyed it nonetheless. Great stay and will be back.

Restrooms were very clean and centrally located. There is a boat launch and canoe rentals available along the Estero River. There also is a historic Koreshan Community within a quarter mile of the campground with old homes, etc which can take up a few hours of viewing. There are no guided tours but it is nice to be able to go at your own pace. Neat site. Very close to the Estero River.
