Holland State Park, Holland, Michigan

Date of Stay: April, 2010 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great state park that offers 2 types of camping. They have the beach campground right on Lake Michigan, and the inland park that is a couple of blocks from the beach. This campground is a typical state park. Lots of trees, but few modern amenities. No full hook ups, wi-fi, etc. We love the beach campground, which is literally a parking lot adjacent to the beach. Watch the beautiful west Michigan sunsets! Both parks/campgrounds are very clean. Holland is a great city. We camped at Holland State Park in a Motorhome.

Pretty park located by Hershey's Chocolate World (highly recommend the tour). Had a decent site that was somewhat level. Only stayed 1 night, but there were several things for the kids to do. Very clean park. We camped at Hersheypark Camping Resort (formerly Hershey Highmeadow Campground) in a Motorhome.

Cherry Hill Park, College Park, Maryland

Date of Stay: July, 2009 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

All around good campground. The major benefits were it's proximity to Washington D.C. Staff was very helpful in assisting transprotation into DC, which is an easy ride by public transportation. Sites were a little small and close to each other. Pool, showers and bathrooms were very nice. On site cafe was good. WiFi signals were strong. CG is within a few miles of a major metro area, so some considerations have to be taken into that fact. It's suburban camping, not Yellowstone. I will camp there again next time we are in the DC area. We camped at Cherry Hill Park in a Motorhome.

Silver Lake State Park, Mears, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2008 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Nice CG in a great location. CG is right on Silver Lake and the Dunes of Lake Michigan. Plenty of activities for the whole family with the lake and the dunes right there. Beautiful sunsets over Silver Lake. Our site had a great view of the lake, and was less than 200' feet from the shore. The town area is a short bike ride away, as is the lighthouse on Lake Michigan. The CG is very full in the summer, with plenty of families and kids around. We rented a pontoon boat and spent a day at the beaches by the dunes. We had a great time exploring and climing the dunes I recommend the Jeep tours on the dunes. We camped at Silver Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Antrim County Barnes Park Campground, Eastport, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2008 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Park was OK for a county park. Sites were a bit tight, and a little hard to get into. Our site did not have water or sewer. Great location next to Lake Michigan. Showers are pay showers requiring .25, which was all I needed. Overall, CG was OK, not great, but not bad. We camped at Antrim County Barnes Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Snug Harbor Inn on Turtle Lake, Delavan, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2008 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Nice campground, but photo's, website, and brochure make it look better than it is. Could use some upgrading to the showers (only 1 bathroom/shower for the whole campground), beach area was very small, boat docks run down. Great location, and I recommend the top tier for the best view. CG has mostly seasonal campers and park models. Lake is good size, and not overly populated. A lot of skiers and tubing, but there is a no wake rule after 2:00 for fishermen. CG has a bar and restaurant, and had karaoke on Sat. night. Staff was friendly. I recommend this CG, but know that it is not as nice as advertised, and do not go there with too high of expectations. We camped at Snug Harbor Inn on Turtle Lake in a Motorhome.

This is a great place to camp. We stayed here overnight, but would love to stay here longer. Sites are very nice, level and easy to get in. The bathrooms are very clean and decorated nicely.
