Whispering Valley Campground & RV Park, Rapid River, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This has become the place we stay when we visit the UP of Michigan. Gravel sites, clean grounds and friendly owners. We love the fact it is a campground and not a resort. There are some seasonal campers and the ones we met were very friendly. We camped at Whispering Valley Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Arcola Camper Stop, Arcola, Illinois

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Barely OK for an overnight stop. Used to be an OK place but has been let go. Trees are overgrown, sewer connections are hard to locate, needs gravel in the pot holes and just looks sad. Honor system drop box for the fees. Looks like someone started to redo the sewer system and the place needs a real going over. Hookups hard to locate. Some were in the middle of the drive/parking pathways. We camped at Arcola Camper Stop in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

It is an older campground, Spaces were small but the grounds were clean. There are Mobile homes in part of the park and some permanent campers setup. Everyone was nice and we felt quite secure there. It is near to our daughters home and we will return. We camped at Sandy Lake RV Park in a Motorhome.

Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park, Effingham, Illinois

Date of Stay: June, 2007 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

We have been here before and it is now even nicer! Showers and restrooms were spotless. Camp host's are very nice folks to deal with. It is so peaceful and restful here. The owners actually like what they are doing and it shows. We also saw the owner order a car full of non-campers off the property when they were driving recklessly!! We will absolutely stop here again! We camped at Camp Lakewood Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

We have been here many times and it is always pleasant and quiet. I will admit there is nothing for kids to do but, sometimes just relaxing is all we need. We will return. We camped at Shipshewana Campground North Park in a Motorhome.

Louisville South KOA, Shepherdsville, Kentucky

Date of Stay: May, 2007 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Staff was wonderful and helpful. Park facilities need some work. That is one of the reasons I rated it low. Price was high for what we got. That is the other reason. Second bath house was closed for remodeling and there were problems with the main one that were there the entire 3 days we were there. When the office closed at 8pm, so did the pool and adults only hot tub? I would give it another try just because of the staff. We camped at Louisville South KOA in a Motorhome.

Hixton / Alma Center KOA, Hixton, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: August, 2005 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful campground. It is 3 miles off of I90 in a country setting. Limited road noise. Flowers and flower gardens everywhere. It is one the cleanest parks we've been to. The size of the campsites are adequate. They have a exercise area for pets. The owners/managers/staff are very nice and helpful. Very quiet. No loud music, kids running through your site, or barking dogs. Plenty of guest parking near the office. We didn't fish at the fishing pond, but saw kids who did. Bait can be purchased at the office. They had an Ice Cream social Saturday, $1 for kids $2 for adults (all you can eat!!). There was a pancake breakfast Sunday morning $3 for all you can eat panckaes. What a nice place! We camped at Hixton / Alma Center KOA in a Motorhome.

Very well kept campground. Free firewood was available (scraps from cabinet shop?). Gravel parking pads that were fairly level. Was fairly quiet. Restrooms and showers were spotless. Some of the nicest we've seen. We would definitely come back. Only real minus, no onsite laundry facilities. We camped at Amish Country Campsites in a Motorhome.

Clean, quiet campground with a restaurant on the grounds. There were some seasonal sites and a few needed attention. We had a shaded site near the back that was excellent. We stopped for one night on our way through and came back for 2 more nights on the return trip. We will return! We camped at Amishville USA Campground in a Motorhome.
