Redwood Meadows RV Resort (formerly Hiouchi RV Resort), Crescent City, California

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

I do not agree with the overall rating this park has received. First the good points. The sites are well spaced. The interior roads are paved. It is a quiet park, both during the day and at night. It has easy access off of Highway 199 and is convenient to the redwood parks. The WiFi is very good most of the time, sometimes not so good, at least at site C5 where I stayed. I did not use the restrooms or laundry so I can't comment on that. Now the not-so-good. The so called pull-through sites are really parallel parking with a concrete 'jersey barrier' structure midway on the utility side of your site to further complicate parking. Lots of luck pulling in and then out with your dinghy attached. Then there's the worst thing of all, the electric power. My 50 amp power was consistently at 106 volts on one leg. When running air conditioning my power monitor shut me off for low voltage at least four times on one day. To be safe the next day I had to shut the water heater off, turn the charger/converter off, and put the fridge on gas. I think that worked but not something I should need to do in a full hookup, "pull-through" site at a published $51 per day. I would not stay here again. We camped at Redwood Meadows RV Resort (formerly Hiouchi RV Resort) in a Motorhome.

Jessie Lea RV Park, Big Stone Gap, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a wonderful small RV park. The owner takes great pride in the grounds and works every day to keep it beautiful. There are pull through sites and back ins. All the sites are roomy for large rigs with grass between sites. The owner lets you pick whatever available site you like. 50 Volt electric power was very good as well as the cable tv. The wifi was a little slow at times but was mostly very good. Our pull through site was in full sun but many of the back-in sites were partial shade. We camped at Jessie Lea RV Park in a Motorhome.

Bodnarosa Motel and Campgrounds, Berwick, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

The park is a mix of RV sites and cabins. It is hilly and some sites are a little tight. It is almost entirely gravel. The roads, sites, and patios are all gravel. It is very dusty. Fortunately it was hot so our windows were closed with the A/C on. Our site (#7) has a side to side slope and we could not get entirely level. It was a gravel parking space with hookups. No picnic table and no fire ring. Just gravel. The WiFi was excellent, probably the best we have ever had at a campground. Cable TV was excellent, although a $20 deposit for a cable box is required. The is no local network TV on cable but the antenna brings in some local programming. 50 amp electric was very good. The office staff were very nice. We camped at Bodnarosa Motel and Campgrounds in a Motorhome.
