Large park with full hookups. Fairly quiet although highway nearby can be noisy if wind is coming from it. Only used this as a short fill in on a trip. Seems overpriced compared to others in the area. And be careful, someone in the park has a radar gun and phones the gate if you move too fast on park roads, in spite of numerous speed bumps. Won't be on our favorites list.

We stayed here over Christmas and enjoyed touring the area. Park is quiet, well maintained and has friendly staff. Sites are a tad narrow but are separated by shrubbery and paved with concrete patio area. All utilities were good with strong wi-fi. Monthly rates are probably even better. Lots to do in the area.

Like to spend a few days here when we pass through. Well spaced paved full hookup sites. Do have to be choosey if in a big rig. Flat part of the paving on sites can be short leaving you with leveling problems. Prefer to be here in cooler months, which is also when it is less crowded. Pool and waterpark are available for $$ but we have never wanted to use them. Plenty to do in the area and our dog loves the beaches. We would be regulars if we lived in the area.

Great overnight stop spot with full hookups. Very friendly staff. Short term sites are pretty tight but adequate. Just not a long term spot for us. Have used it before as a stopover and would again.

Love this park. We were here before Christmas when they have their great light show going on. One of the best. Our dog loves the large dog park with a lake for swimming or splashing. Trees can give satellite TV systems problems so be careful choosing a site. Been here several times and will be back.

Price is average of weekday and weekend rates. No sewer or Wi-Fi but good power, satellite, and phone reception. Large paved pad sites well spaced. Close to many area attractions, including the large and very beautiful Presque Isle State Park. We were here over the local 'Roar On The Shore' Harley-Davidson weekend in town so there were a lot of cycles in the campground but for Harleys they were pretty noise considerate. We would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Nice remote family friendly park. It may have 50-amp sites with sewer, but as weekenders we were not offered one. We had 30-amp and no sewer. However, power was good and weather was nice so no problem. Owner very friendly. Our site was grassy, not perfectly level but we got close enough. Lot of seasonals here but folks are very friendly. Nice lake which dogs was allowed to swim in so she was happy. Good Wi-Fi. We would stay here again if in the area.

Rate was Passport America, good for 5 days which is great. Power was good, site level and grassy with gravel pad. Widely spaced nice sites with tables and fire rings. Office folks not warm and fuzzy or informative. Office opens at noon, so if you want to leave before then and have a gate pass turn it in the night before to get your deposit back. Laundry only has cold water, which they do not tell you. All in all a nice rural, quiet park which we would go back to if in the area.

Passport Rate for the stay. Road going in is Very rough for the last 1/2-3/4 miles. Park roads are dusty, twisty, and narrow in spots. Park claims Wi-Fi but I could never get connected to it. Our site was heavily wooded so no satellite. Off-air TV was spotty. Don't know how others missed the pool, but it is there and fully functional. Folks here are very proud that they switched it to salt water to be more environmentally friendly. Same with the new laundry facilities. Lake is nice and clean and our dog took full advantage of it. Lots of seasonals and lots of semi-locals on the weekends. Many golf carts driven by all ages at all hours. We had a teenagers gathering at the pavilion next to our site at 1 AM Sat. night. Much longer and I would have called security. Overall, facilities are adequate and park is probably more likable when it is less full.

Rate reflects average 5 nights Passport America, 2 nights discounted regular. We like this park for our area interests although the park environment is not really special. People are friendly, snack bar is good, pool is refreshing, Wi-fi is good, flea market is always interesting and busy. We take our dog to Winged Dear Park where she can swim in nice water with us (on leash) so this is an added bonus. Nice quiet park and great for NASCAR races if you get reservations early.

Rate reflects average of 2 nights Passport America, 2 nights full rate. Mixed feelings about the park. It is an older park which could us some TLC. We were in the lower, probably transient, area. Power, water, sewer, cable good. Got satellite. Wi-fi is weak, as is Verizon. Camp area where we were could definitely use more attention although we were told the restrooms are A-OK. Park is heavily permanent and seasonal and geared to families. We never used any of the other facilities due to our interests which had us out of the park most days. Good for short term visits (longer if you have kids) but probably overpriced.

Mixed feelings about this park. It is good for our purposes as a couple of days stop. Full hookup with 50 amp power and cable. Wi-Fi is weak. Site was level and well spaced. However, it is NOT a destination or family park. Most sites are long term workers who leave noisily at 5 AM. Environment offers no aesthetics (where is the lake?) and you do hear highway noise if your windows are open. Owner is very friendly and helpful but the scenery is not the best. We would use it as a stopover again, but not as a "destination" park.

Date of Stay:

Camped here only because no other places are open this time of year. Way overpriced for what you get. Gravel/muddy roads and sites, no cable, and no Wi-Fi we could find. The owner is friendly and helpful and this may be a good place with kids in the water park season, but is not the greatest place in winter months.

We like state parks. This one has sewers, unusual for state parks. Would rate it even higher if it had 50 amp power. Great trails for walking and geocaching. Only problem we had was that they shut the park down for three days of deer herd thinning by hunters and cut our visit short by a day even though we had an on-line reservation. We did get a one day refund. We did not pay the daily $5/person entrance fee because we had an annual Texas parks pass or the park would have been more expensive. We would definitely come here again although probably not in hot months.

Our first time here. Close to kids living in Kingwood. Basic stopover spot but not a "destination" park unless you have things to do away from the campground. Utilities were good. We did not use cable which is available for $$. Wi-Fi was spotty but our phone card worked well. Only real problem was that there were some major potholes right at the junction of the campground roads and the highway. This can rock your unit if you are not careful. We'll definitely use the park again. The Passport America rate makes it a good alternative to more expensive nearby parks.
