Fairview Riverside State Park, Madisonville, Louisiana

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Stay here almost every time we are in the area visiting family and friends. A nice quiet park in a beautiful setting. This time we stayed in the back, "premium", loop. Only drawback is no sewers but for a short stay who needs sewer. Wi-fi was strong (repeater right by our site) but it is pretty restrictive about what you can do. Washer and drier in the bathroom building were FREE, can you believe it? Satellite and phone coverage were good and you can get many off-air TV stations as well as satellite. We camped at Fairview Riverside State Park in a Motorhome.

This is the New Orleans area folks! Food choices are abundant and excellent. Visit the N.O. WWII national museum - plan more than one day if you can, it is well worth the time and $$.

Sherling Lake Park, Greenville, Alabama

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Great overnight stopover spot for us as we moved from NC toward Louisiana. Quiet, full hookups (although we only used the electricity this time). Park is dropping Good Sam membership - too expensive for a relatively small and economically priced park. We camped at Sherling Lake Park in a Motorhome.

Hard Labor Creek State Park, Rutledge, Georgia

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here many years ago and the campsites have been upgraded a lot since then. Full HU's with 50-amp electricity and cable. We stayed in a pull-thru site as we were there only one night. Had to leave because they were closing the park for 3 days for an annual hunt to thin the animal population. Site was very long and level. Well spaced from others. We camped at Hard Labor Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Indian Springs Campground, Hickory, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Won't repeat previous good reviews but they are correct. This was our first visit and the dirt road down to the campground had us wondering if we made the right choice, but all was well once we got there. Nice quiet hideaway for short or longer term stays. Would definitely stay again but do make reservations. It is a small campground. We camped at Indian Springs Campground in a Motorhome.

Raleigh Oaks RV Resort, Four Oaks, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We had a back-in site at the far end of the park which meant driving our car up front for activities. Won't repeat previous plusses; this is a nice park. Old KOA but being significantly upgraded by current owners. Lots of activities. Gravel roads are good for vehicles, not so good for walking. Two pools, clubhouse with new rally building under construction. Friendly staff. Dinner on Thurs. for few $$ was good, and waffles are free Fri.-Sun. mornings. Wi-fi signal was good but slow when in heavy use. Would stay again if in this area. We camped at Raleigh Oaks RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Pierce Mobile Estates & Travel Trailer Park, Williamston, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is an out of the way very quiet basic park. Sites are on grassy very firm ground. Electricity was very low voltage on our first day of four and better but not super strong the rest of our stay. Owners are very friendly. Park is quiet and very well maintained. Shopping and restaurants are nearby. Wi-Fi worked well. We would stay again if in the area. Cash or checks only. We camped at Pierce Mobile Estates & Travel Trailer Park in a Motorhome.

North River Campground, Shawboro, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice, quiet, well maintained park. We had a site facing the lake so a nice view. Our rate was an average of 3 days Passport America and 2 days full price. Park is well away from civilization (8 miles to nearest main highway) and 15-20 miles from shopping or services. It is a nice park but has a few negatives. The wi-fi only works if you are close to the office even though it shows up as strong on devices. The dog run is the sorriest excuse for such a feature we have ever seen. Most of the fenced in area is a foot high concrete pad which we have no idea why it is there. There is essentially no area for dogs to play. Wish we could post the picture we took of it. We would visit again, but only for the P/A days. We camped at North River Campground in a Motorhome.

Cross Creek RV Park, Maggie Valley, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice established park in a very quiet location. We spent a week here camping with friends. Facilities are nice and park is very well maintained. Lots to do in the area. Only minor problem was slow wi-fi at times - seemed to be a capacity problem, not signal strength. We camped at Cross Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.

Bandits Roost COE, Wilkesboro, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of our favorite parks. Sites are well spaced and large, water access is good, especially for our dog who loves to swim, and for us seniors, the price is very right. The only thing missing is sewer hookups but for our 4 day stay this time that was not a problem. Always like COE parks and this is a good one. We camped at Bandits Roost COE in a Motorhome.

Jones Station RV Park, Mebane, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice, well laid out park only 3 years old. All utilities are good and wi-fi is strong. Gravel roads but well maintained and they are paving the entrance road so maybe more will be paved in the future. Sites are well spaced and quite a few have some shade. All seem level, Only thing missing in the hot summer would be a pool. We were not here for the campground as a destination, but rather for the area attractions so this was a very nice park for us. We camped at Jones Station RV Park in a Motorhome.

Parkers Crossroads RV Park and Campground, Yuma, Tennessee

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

One of the best parks we stayed at on this trip. Staff is very warm, friendly and helpful. Park has all needed services plus many most parks do not. Repair services, coach detailing in and out, good wi-fi and detailed information and recommendations on things to see and do in the area. Hope we have the opportunity to pass this way again and stay longer. We camped at Parkers Crossroads RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park, West Memphis, Arkansas

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Been here many times over the years. The views along the river are neat with barges traveling up and down day and night. The facilities are acceptable with full hookups, but no cable. Problem is they are getting pretty pricey. Went up $10 a night from our stay in 2016, and that is with a GS discount. Our stays here will be shorter. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

River View RV & Recreational Park, Colbert, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Mixed feelings about River View. Quoted one price on phone, charged more on arrival. Park seems to have been fitted in the terrain in awkward ways in some parts. Wi-fi is slow, water pressure with their mandated pressure reducer ($100 fine?) is dismal, and even the electricity at our site didn' handle loads very well. Scenery is nice, location is convenient and we had things to do in the area so our stay was OK, but seems over-priced. We camped at River View RV & Recreational Park in a Motorhome.

The RV Park of Henderson, Henderson, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed just 2 nights on our way north through TX. Clean, quiet park with several long-term residents. Friendly owner/manager couple. Sites are slightly sloped but got close to a level for our rig. Just not much more than a basic campground but great at PA price. We camped at The RV Park of Henderson in a Motorhome.

Grand Texas, New Caney, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very new park with a few growing pains. Grass is very thin and ground gets very soft when wet. People cut site corners and are making mud problems. Not all facilities are completed yet, but new ownership is moving forward with some good plans. Hookups at the back-in sites are in very poor locations, but plans are to correct this. Small concrete patios are not convenient for most rigs positioning. Location is very good for us, as we visit family in the area every year. Lots of development of other recreational facilities near the park, so it likely will become a destination campground in coming years.

If you want the lowest price back-in sites better bring long power cords, water hoses and sewer hoses. Pull through sites are more manageable for utilities. We camped at Grand Texas in a Motorhome.
