Anvil Campground, Williamsburg, Virginia

Date of Stay: November, 2010 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

The location is great, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The "but" is that this is a very, very noisy RV park. There is a fairly busy roadway on one side and a railroad on the other. Between the two was us trying to sleep: it didn't work well. We camped at Anvil Campground in a Motorhome.

Harpers Ferry / Civil War Battlefields KOA, Harpers Ferry, West Virginia

Date of Stay: October, 2010 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

This park was busy, crowded and way over priced. The sites are small, short and narrow. The staff was friendly. The showers are showing their age and need an overhaul, though they were clean. We were here on the Halloween weekend. I'm not sure if that was the reason the park was so busy or just the proximity to Harper's Ferry NP. Would not go back simply due to the price. We camped at Harpers Ferry / Civil War Battlefields KOA in a Motorhome.

Flagstaff KOA, Flagstaff, Arizona

Date of Stay: September, 2010 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This park is dated with small spaces, uneven sites, narrow roads and somewhat overpriced. This was our second and, most probably, last stay here. There are, simply, nicer parks available in the same area. We camped at Flagstaff KOA in a Motorhome.

Rancho Sedona RV Park, Sedona, Arizona

Date of Stay: September, 2010 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

I would give two different ratings for this park if possible. One for the park, a 10 and one for the staff, slightly less. The park is in a wonderful setting with great shade trees, level sites, all gravel roads and nice grounds. The laundry and showers were clean and neat. The WiFi works well. The staff has an air that put me off, though, they were efficient and answered our questions. They are set up well for dogs. We would come back here again. We camped at Rancho Sedona RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a pleasant CG that is close enough yet far enough from the freeway to be both convenient and quiet. The CG host is very pleasant and helpful. The grounds are well maintained, the WiFi works well and the showers were clean and neat. We camped at Fillmore KOA in a Motorhome.

The Meadows RV Park, Ketchum, Idaho

Date of Stay: September, 2010 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Some CG's are just in wonderful places and I would go back in spite of the fact the the CG is not so great. This is Meadows in a nutshell. The Sun Valley area is wonderful with scenery, hiking, biking trails galore. The Meadows is an adequate park, slightly small spaces and a helpful gentleman running the place. We camped at The Meadows RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very nice, rustic CG. Nice, mostly level gravel pads that offer adequate separation from your neighbor. Hot Spring offers a wonderful soak after a long drive on the Alcan Hwy. We camped at Liard River Hot Springs Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

Page Lake Powell Campground, Page, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2008 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is a wonderful setting with amazing views-- at least from space C 25. No fancy amenities-pools or cable TV and the WI-FI is iffy at best but the location is outstanding. We camped at Page Lake Powell Campground in a Motorhome.

McDowell Mountain Regional Park, Scottsdale, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2008 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We've been on the road for about 6 months now and have stayed in many different campgrounds/RV parks and this may rate as the best of the trip. Certainly, as far as setting goes, it's wonderful. It's set in the middle of the desert surrounded by miles of undeveloped land. The sites are huge and widely spread out. There is a mix of pull through and back ins with many large enough for any size RV. Each site offers a table, BBQ and fire pit. We heard coyotes every night and had an abundance of various birds frequent our site. There is labyrinth of trails that leave each loop of the camp sites. They go off for many miles and connect with several other trails that wind throughout the area and are friendly to both hikers and bikers. We camped at McDowell Mountain Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Huntington By The Sea RV Resort, Huntington Beach, California

Date of Stay: February, 2008 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

If it weren't for the location I would not recommend this park. It's expensive, old, worn and is basically an parking lot. What makes it worthwhile, in some respects, is what it's close to, i.e. the Pacific Ocean that is just across the street-- a major 5 lane roadway and the Huntington Beach town, itself, is close by. They do have pet walk areas (2) but our dogs would not use them, for reasons only they knew. There is a city RV park, on the ocean side of the road, that I would try next time. We camped at Huntington By The Sea RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Very nice location, good hikes in the area. The sites are gravel and not real level but other, natural amenities, make it a good stop. We camped at Cattail Cove State Park in a Motorhome.
