Orange Grove RV Park, Bakersfield, California

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Usually we stay elsewhere, but I'd read so many "excellent" reviews about this one, I thought we'd try it. We arrived after the office closed but there were "check-in" envelopes on a bulletin board indicated by site number those that were available. We selected #12, only to discover there was someone already in it, so we went back and picked #14. It turned out to be a decent site...fairly level and the hookups were where they should be. However...it is close to the main road that runs right outside the entrance, and the agricultural traffic is NOISY. The office staff the next morning, was very friendly and check-out was quick and easy. Their "store" wasn't open as they are remodeling, but they offered to search the back room if there was something I needed. I passed on that. We camped at Orange Grove RV Park in a Motorhome.

Big Bend of the Colorado River State Recreation, Laughlin, Nevada

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

I rarely rate a 10 for any park, but this one is an exception. Very, very nice state park. We were only there one night, but would have stayed longer if we weren't on a deadline to get home. The sites are very spacious and they each have a shade ramada, firepit and BBQ. We had a pull thru site that was pretty level and quiet, (except for the wind...it was very windy). We camped at Big Bend of the Colorado River State Recreation in a Motorhome.

Meteor Crater RV Park, Winslow, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Picked this RV Park because we wanted to visit the crater, which was just 5 miles up the road. Check in was easy and quick. Discount tickets were provided. The lady who checked us in was very friendly and helpful, but the one the next morning, was the opposite...felt like we were bothering her. Mobil gas station on site and they give a discount to those who stay in the park. Site was fairly level gravel. Electric was fine but water pressure was a bit low. We camped at Meteor Crater RV Park in a Motorhome.

Route 66 RV Resort, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

We checked in late night and were mapped to our site. (No escort.) The site was level, quiet and spacious. It's behind the casino and there are shuttles running pretty much all the time if you want to go to either play or eat. We camped at Route 66 RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Eagle Lake Recreation Area, Merrill Lake Campground, Susanville, California

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We keep returning...we love this campground! We had site #18 this year...a long back in site that was so level, all we did was set the parking brake. The camp host this time of the season is terrific. She is very accomodating and will deliver firewood to your site if she's not too busy. Firewood is $5 per bundle, and it's on the honor system. I don't think you can find any campground as beautiful with a choice of f/h, w/e or dry camping for less money, if you're a senior citizen (Walmart or Pilot or Flying J are not camping!) We'll be back again next year if the stars are lined up correctly. We camped at Eagle Lake Recreation Area, Merrill Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Marina store is 2 mile walk or 4 minute drive. Good for supplies you forget to bring or ran out of. Susanville is 30 minutes away with 3 main grocery stores, drug stores and hardward stores. Also, there's a good rv/camper repair and retail store on Johnstonville HWY just north of town. Nice people and good prices. Fun to just browse.

Antelope Valley Fairgrounds, Lancaster, California

Date of Stay: January, 2014 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

I agree with the positive reviews posted by others. It's a parking lot with well spaced sites with full hookups and a great, quiet spot for an overnight stay. The sites are concrete and level, for the most part, although some are slightly off and you might have a problem getting a total dump. I moved from my site to a pull through site that worked better for me to dump. I tried calling and e-mailing to see if there was in issue with arriving late at night, but got no response from e-mailing and couldn't leave a message because the voice mail box was full for several days. Took a chance and arrived at 1:30 AM on New Year's day. No problem. Many spaces to choose from and it was quiet. WiFi is available, but the password that was posted did not work. All in all, we'd stay again when in the area. We camped at Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Cove Palisades State Park (Crooked River Campground), Culver, Oregon

Date of Stay: October, 2013 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

Terrific campground. Good separation between nice pretty level sites. Host was very friendly and helpful. Not crowded at all at the end of October. Several sites had campers who brought in boats to go fishing. Host indicated that the campground had been redone about a year ago. Had the best two lane dump station I've ever seen. Slope was perfect for evacuating the holding tanks. Was very clean. Obviously the people who camp here really care about the grounds and facilities. Rangers were friendly and efficient. Has a large off-leash pet exercise area and pick-up bags are provided. We will come back again, but earlier in the year. We camped at Cove Palisades State Park (Crooked River Campground) in a Motorhome.

Bakersfield RV Resort, Bakersfield, California

Date of Stay: April, 2013 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Another nice overnight stay here. We use this resort when traveling 99 between northern and southern California. Nice office staff, and easy check-in. Sites are fairly tight, but they are level and the hookups are in the right place. Everything worked as expected. We didn't use the restaurant or bar this time, but they were good the last couple of times we were there. We'd stay again. We camped at Bakersfield RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort, Plymouth, California

Date of Stay: April, 2013 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We were here to attend the El Dorado Winery Association Passport Weekend. Our second time here, and will return again. The park was pretty full this time, with lots of people out and about in the campground. Lots of kids on bikes and obviously having a good time. Unlike many reviewers, we enjoy seeing and hearing kids having fun outside, instead of glued to televisions watching cartoons or playing video games. Check-in was quick and easy, and the office staff is terrific. Our site was level, so all I had to do was set the brake and hook up. Overall, a very nice park. We camped at Far Horizons 49er Village RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Eagle Lake Recreation Area, Merrill Lake Campground, Susanville, California

Date of Stay: September, 2012 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This was our 3rd time at this NPS campground. There were other people there that we had met last year, too, so we aren't the only ones who come back here. It's like coming home. We love it!!! Once again we stayed in a loop with full hookups and as they had in the past, everything worked as expected. We were in site #6 this time and leveling wasn't difficult, although it took most of my Lynx leveling blocks. Basically just had to raise the rear. Wi-Fi was available at the campground host's site. AT&T and Verizon (air card) worked well here. There is a paved bike path that goes about 2.5 miles each direction out of the campground. Westbound, the path ends at another campground and eastbound it ends at the marina and store. Nice easy level walk or ride. The campground hosts are terrific. Delivered firewood to my site and at $5.00 per bundle, it was a real bargain! We'll come back next year if the stars are lined up correctly! We camped at Eagle Lake Recreation Area, Merrill Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

Manzanita Lake (NPS Campground), Lassen Volcanic National Park, California

Date of Stay: September, 2012 - $9.00
Overall Rating:

We spent two nights here and really enjoyed this campground. The campground wasn't very crowded, although there were lots of reserved sites for campers who were being displaced by the fires in the area. There are four loops, A, B, C, and D, which is for tents only. We chose site B46, which was a pull-through, because it was fairly easy to level. Many of the sites would require significant leveling. The biggest drawback was the dust...it's basically dirt camping except for the pad. This is the kind of dirt/dust that sticks to everything, so the dogs required a lot of clean-up before being allowed back into the RV. Neither AT&T nor Verizon worked in our site, but they were usable near the store. Nice walk around the lake. Nice campground host. I'd like to come back in the spring when there might be a bit of grass in the campsites. We camped at Manzanita Lake (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Mt Lassen / Shingletown KOA, Shingletown, California

Date of Stay: September, 2012 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Stopped here for an overnight without a reservation. The office was closed, but the manager drove up in a golf cart and offered to open the office, look up my KOA Membership number and proceed to check me in. After selecting a campsite, (#33) with full hookups, she led us to the site and assisted with backing in. Great service. As mentioned before the sites are gravel, but there is no dust...except in the K9 Corral. It's dirt...no grass, so the dogs got dirty really fast. Everything worked as expected, and we were very pleased with this campground. The pool was closed for the season, but wouldn't have used it anyway. I agree with previous reviewers that the staff is very, very friendly and accommodating. I'll stay again if in the area. We camped at Mt Lassen / Shingletown KOA in a Motorhome.

San Onofre SB, San Mateo Campground, San Clemente, California

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Our second time at this park because of proximity to family. If that weren't the case, we probably wouldn't come here. If San Clemente had any space, we would have gone there instead of here. There's noise from Camp Pendleton and I-5, even though it's a mile away. There's no view of the ocean, or anything else for that matter. Verizon aircard connectivity was sketchy at best. On the positive side, the sites are well spaced and have considerably vegetation between them, so privacy isn't a problem. The rangers and camp hosts were friendly and helpful. We camped at San Onofre SB, San Mateo Campground in a Motorhome.
