Goose Point Campground COE, Bassett, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2008 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

Great campground with beautiful views. We would recommend loop "C" with a lake front site, unless you would prefer not to listen to the boats. As stated the roads are hilly and windy, but they weren't as bad as I had expected. Also as stated previously, larger rigs will scrape their tires on the loops curbs. Being aware of this I stayed way right and still the left side trailer tires rubbed somewhat (minor scuff). Backing into our site however was a breeze. We used the restrooms and showers (as there was no sewer hook ups) frequently and never had to wait. Both were very clean with lots of hot water. Absolutely a steal for just $21 a night. Water level (lake) was 7' low, but this had no effect on our stay. We camped at Goose Point Campground COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: August, 2008 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice and heavily wooded campground. Our site was extremely short and cramped with the trailer backed right up to a tent site, still leaving little room for the truck. Site had a fire ring however it was in the corner of our site, just off the tent site and about a foot from our awning. Luckily friends were nearby and our nights were spent at their site, while our days were touring the battlefields. Campground staff was very polite and helpful, and again the campground was really wooded and the bathrooms very clean. We will definitely return if we can get a bigger site, farther up the hill (or pull through). We camped at Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

1000 Islands / Association Island KOA , Henderson Harbor, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2007 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

Our favorite campground by far. We have been heading here each of the last three years, and have reservations for this year again. Though somewhat expensive, it is most relaxing with sunsets to die for, and it gets better every year. In three years we've only used the a/c one day (and I don't think we needed it then either). If you do go, do yourself a favor and leave your awning rolled up, as others have mentioned. We were warned about this and have seen several tear apart in the high winds. The bugs aren't a problem outside (too breezy). Easy to get to off Rte 81. The hook ups are set up for motorhomes -vs- TT/5ver with the rear living rooms, but we're outside the whole time anyway. Bring extra sewer and water hoses. We camped at 1000 Islands / Association Island KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Shore Hills Campground and RV Park, Boothbay, Maine

Date of Stay: August, 2007 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for three nights while enroute to Bar Harbor. Very wooded with pine trees and well kept sites. Staff was very polite and maintained a well stocked store. We had a site on the tidal inlet, and it ended up being no more than a muddy stream (on the backside). We would return again. We camped at Shore Hills Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Smuggler's Den Campground, Southwest Harbor, Maine

Date of Stay: August, 2007 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for a week and had a great time. Our site was premium with the cement pad and patio. We were located right across from the store and pool, on a corner site, and although busy it was still relaxing. Store had the bus/shuttle stop, but on the flip side, it also had wifi which reached our site with an excellent signal. The pool was nicely heated and clean. We drove to the nearby harbour town and took the bus to Bar Harbor several times. Great hiking in the immediate area, and fresh lobster in a tank right inside the camp store. We will return again. Also no Sprint/Nextel sevice except for Bar Harbor and Cadillac Mtn. We camped at Smuggler's Den Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Bissell's Hideaway, Ridgeville, Ontario

Date of Stay: August, 2007 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

While visiting the Falls we stayed here. The sites were close together, however, checking out other campgrounds, they all looked about the same. This park has a water park that's a '10'. It's a real cement lake that was very enjoyable and well maintained. There is also a water slide and small child area with water guns and stuff. Also seems as if walking through another's site was the norm up here. I felt bad for the rental cabin behind our site because when they escorted me in, I was backed up within 2 feet of the cabin, pretty much making their rear window view a wall of white fiberglass. We would definitely stay here again. A great place if you have kids. We camped at Bissell's Hideaway in a Fifth Wheel.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Quarryville, Quarryville, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2007 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here over Father's Day weekend in a two family site. We had a good time and found the campground clean and well staffed. We were disappointed to see they went to golf carts, as they were buzzing around all weekend. We also attended dad's holiday breakfast, which was free for dad, but a fortune for the rest of the family. We probably will return once more to check out the waterpark. That'll be the last trip as the kids are getting older and the events are geared more for youth...and expensive. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Quarryville in a Fifth Wheel.
