Seven Feathers RV Park, Canyonville, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

I'd been here one other time, attending an RV rally. I stayed at the hotel at the casino that time. This stay, I was attending another RV rally and stayed there in my RV. This RV resort is among the nicest I've been to. It really offers a lot as well: - Paved interior roads - Paved RV sites - Real grass and shrubs on each site - Large, covered outdoor pavilion - Small, but comfortable clubhouse with kitchen, large TV and projection screen - Large indoor pool - Large, clean bath houses - Two community fire rings with propane fire pits and benches - Free shuttle service to casino - Access to nearby truck stop without having to leave property We stayed here 5 nights and we'd stay here again. We were in pull-through RV site 86. We camped at Seven Feathers RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Wendover KOA, West Wendover, Nevada

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

As KOAs go, this one was "okay". The location was excellent. The WiFi worked but there was NO Internet on the other end. We used our phones instead. This is a 100% gravel campground. Normal for the area. Just be aware (dusty in the wind). We stayed in 1 of only a handful of 50 amp FHU sites. Next time, I might check out the CG next to the KOA to save some money. We camped at Wendover KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Walking distance to the Red Garter Casino and there's a set of steps from the KOA up to the back parking lot of the casino. Need to walk around to the front of casino to enter. Breakfast there was "decent".

Jim & Mary's RV Park, Missoula, Montana

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We needed an overnight campsite on our way through Missoula. We selected Jim & Mary's over the KOA based on the satellite view. Site's looked more spacious here. This campground is full of tall, mature trees. This means, lots of shade. It also means that rooftop satellite dishes won't work from most sites. Fortunately for me, using the DP Pro satellite finder app, I was able to determine that if I placed the RV at the front of the site, I could get satellite. It worked! We were given pull-through site A8. The interior roads are paved. I found the turns at the end of the roads to be a bit tight. My site was long enough to disconnect and fit my 43 foot 5th wheel and 23 foot pickup truck. I had a wide, grassy yard and a picnic table. We'd stay here again. We camped at Jim & Mary's RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Crown Villa RV Resort, Bend, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $79.00
Overall Rating:

We needed an RV spot for a single night while passing through Bend. We chose Crown Villa based on reviews. Wow - this place is amazing. Mature pine trees, beautiful and spacious yards at each RV site, paver RV pads that are very long and very wide. This place offers a host of amenities as well. I'd love to spend a couple weeks here in the future. We camped at Crown Villa RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Columbia Sun RV Resort, Kennewick, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

We needed an overnight site in Kennewick while passing through. Based on reviews, we stopped at Columbia Sun RV Resort. This place is great. Well laid out, wide paved interior roads, long paved pull-through RV sites, well landscaped lawns. Only suggestion I have for the resort is that they bag their lawn clippings. They irrigate their lawn and it grows thick and long. While freshly mowed before we arrived, grass clippings were thick on the grass and us and the dogs drag it into the RV. Other than this - amazing resort! Final note: I was charged $3 for our 2 small Yorkies. Didn't know that until the next night when I reviewed my receipt. Not a huge deal - just be aware of this pet fee. We camped at Columbia Sun RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Dakota Ridge RV Park, Golden, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

Conveniently located in Golden - especially if you're going to Red Rocks. We needed an RV park to stay at while in the area to go to a concert at Red Rocks. Other than hookups, we personally don't have use for much other campground amenities. We were placed in pull-through site H10. It's 65 feet long. Our 43' 5th wheel and truck fit on the site just barely, but it worked out fine for us. There's an overflow lot a hundred feet away that I could have used to park my truck if I wanted to. Our site had 50 amp power, water and sewer. All worked find. The pull through sites are setup buddy-style where the direction of the sites are flipped. This means we shared a front yard with a neighbor. We never used the front yard, so this didn't put us out a bit. Both sites had brand new Lifetime brand picnic tables - really nice. The sites are a bit close on the off-door-side but presented no issue as our off-door-side was next to another neighbor's off-door side. No issue at all here. The CG interior roads are paved. They have a an outdoor pool. I understand they have a hot tub. We never used it, nor know where it was. I believe they have laundry as well as we saw others walking with laundry bags. WiFi wasn't speedy but was easy to connect to and stay connected to. We'd stay here again. We camped at Dakota Ridge RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

R&R RV Park and Campgrounds (formerly Mermaid Cove), Spring Branch, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Myself and another friend made reservations at this campground a couple months in advance. Upon arrival, the employee there found no record of our reservations. We were given specific site numbers at time of reservation. The employee there told us those site were no longer open. We were shown 2 other sites they felt we could fit on (our RVs are 42 feet long). We made it onto our sites precisely at the time the water went out. This was resolved a couple hours later but it added to our frustration a bit. The handle on my site's hose-bib was completely broken off. I used a pair of pliers to turn it on and off. The utilities for my site were on the wrong side of the RV and all the way to the back of the site. Getting into the campground with longer RVs were a bit treacherous as well. Dogs are allowed to roam freely here and dog poop was found everywhere :( The final negative here was when we were paying. While our rate of $25.20 was honored, we were told the rates had went up to $40. This was not a $40 per night experience in my opinion and I camp at scores of campgrounds, hundreds of nights annually. Carefully consider if camping here is right for you. We camped at R&R RV Park and Campgrounds (formerly Mermaid Cove) in a Fifth Wheel.

Interstate 40 Grand Canyon RV Park , Ash Fork, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

Our truck broke down 2 miles from Ash Fork. Good Sam ERS selected this CG for us.

This is a very old, former KOA. Been through a couple of owners since then. As others have stated, the current owner has been putting a lot of money into bringing this place back to its former glory.

We found the Managers to be very accommodating and very knowledgeable of the area. This came in handy as we had 9 days to do sightseeing.

For the value - I'd stay here again.

Rate listed was approximate GS daily rate - I paid for a week, then added 2 more nights. We camped at Interstate 40 Grand Canyon RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Prescott is less than an hour south. Williams is a 1/2 hour east. Flagstaff is an hour east. The South Rim of the Grand Canyon is 1-3/4 hours NE. Sedona not too too far either. We went to all the places, more than once in 9 days.

There's a truck repair shop (Monte Carlo) nearby at exit 149. They rebuilt the rear axle / diff of my truck.

Williams has some great Route 66 shopping and restaurants.

Texas Wine Country Jellystone Park Camp-Resort, Fredericksburg, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Great campground!

This was our first stay here. We stayed here as this is where our event (2016 Texas Sweetheart Rally) was being held.

We stayed in site 34 which is a buddy site and it was great! All the sites were 25 to 30 feet in width. All sites were nice and deep (60 to 75 feet or so).

We used their Mocking Bird Hall for our event. The room worked well for us, albeit a but loud (need more sound baffling). We used the kitchen in the hall and it was great and real handy for us.

The restrooms between halls was modern and very clean.

I never went into it, but I was told the bath house was very nice.

I got to go into a cabin/cottage as a friend was checking one out for a possible stay. The units were very spacious, well stocked with everything you'd need except food and clothing. They were very clean as well. I bit $$ at $160 to $180 per night or so, but divided by the number of people they can sleep - not bad I guess.

The office has a very large and very well stocked camp store and the staff was very friendly and very accommodating to our group.

While this CG is 10 miles east of Fredericksburg, it was no big deal at all to go into town. We'd stay here again! We camped at Texas Wine Country Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Fort Stockton RV Park, Fort Stockton, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Decent RV Park.

This was our first stay here. Normally, we stay across town when passing through. We stayed here at the suggestion of a friend.

This is a former KOA. The office was clean and the staff was pleasant.

One odd thing was that they could not find my reservation in their system. Then they found it, but found the site number they gave me two days prior was already occupied. No problem with me - give me another site. They assigned me a new site and I led myself to it. Small problem - my site was occupied (3:30 pm). I called the office to advise them and told them the site next to mine was open - they said it was okay to setup there (site 56 - Pull-through - about 70').

This park has a restaurant that comes highly recommended. I did pop in to check it out. It was nice and clean. I spoke to the cook and he gave me some menu suggestions. The food sounded great but we decided to make our own dinner tonight.

I'd stay here again for an overnight or up to a week. Longer than that - too dusty with all gravel roads. We camped at Fort Stockton RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tallahassee RV Park, Tallahassee, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

We stay here as a passing-through point as we leave FL and trek west. The location is great. Not far from I-10 and just off TN-90. Easy to get into Tallahassee. We stay in the sites numbered in the 40s. Stayed in site 41 this time. Sites are fine gravel, LONG, about 20 feet wide. They have a nice (open) dog park here too. If you NEED satellite from your roof, ask for a site up front at the entrance. We've stayed further into the campground in sites 41 through 44 and have gotten rooftop satellite to work looking through the trees - but it's not guaranteed.

We'd stay here again. We camped at Tallahassee RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Archway RV Park (formerly Quality Times RV Park), Mount Vernon, Illinois

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park. Convenient location. Price paid ($35) includes tax and was for a long pull-through, 50 amp full hook-up site (#28). I was looking for an overnight location to stay near St. Louis. We were traveling east and I preferred to stay east of St. Louis. Found this place on this review site. Reviews were mixed but when I arrived, I knew the lower reviews must have been for the previous campground owner. The new owner has spent a lot of money and time here. The office is really nice inside. The sites have had their power, water and cable upgraded. The WiFi system worked great. I'm using it to type this review. There are truck stops, Walmart and other shopping within a mile of here. I'd stay here again! We camped at Archway RV Park (formerly Quality Times RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Greenville Farm Family Campground, Haymarket, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

First time staying here. We needed an overnight site west of Washington, DC on our way to Ocean City, MD. This place is really hidden well. Narrow but paved interior roads. We stayed in site S17 as we wanted 50 amp full hookups, a long pull-through, and a clear shot to the sky for rooftop satellite. The site delivers as would any on site S17 through S21. The site itself is huge but not level at all. Slopes way down to the front. We have automatic levelers on the coach, so I disconnected from the truck and them took care of things. We'd stay here again if we needed a CG in the area. We camped at Greenville Farm Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Dixie Caverns Campground, Salem, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

First time staying here. Careful when pulling in off the highway as the CG has a stone sign in the center of their driveway. CG office is in the gift shop. Female staffer was friendly. They take credit cards. We had pull-through site 54. Nice long site but low in the rear. Not a problem if you are unhooking but we stayed hooked up. 50 amp power, water, and sewer were all fine. Site 54 also worked for my rooftop satellite dish so long as I was parked at the rear of the site. Site 53 would also work for rooftop satellite (again, stay to the rear of site). I'd stay here again for an overnight or if I was visiting the nearby Dixie Caverns. We camped at Dixie Caverns Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Sylvan Lake Beach Park, Hopewell Junction, New York

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Decent place to stay, no amenities, far from the expressway, not cheap. On our way to the Boston area from the west, we needed an overnight spot with full-hookups and in the area, there was not much other choice. I called ahead and spoke to the manager. Very nice fellow. He told me he could accommodate me. He warned me to use the directions from their website. We did and it took us right there without worrying about low clearances. At the office, using the outdoor wall phone, we called the number indicated and the manager was there quickly. He took our $45 payment (accepts credit cards now) and escorted us to our site. It was a 50 foot deep back in. No problem. Note that the sewer was at the back of the site. I was able to reach with my standard (long) sewer hose. We didn't use the cable but saw the hookup. 50 amp power was fine. Water pressure was low (about 30 PSI). We felt safe. I'd stay here again if I needed to stop in the area for an overnight. We camped at Sylvan Lake Beach Park in a Fifth Wheel.
