Cincinnati South Campground, Crittenden, Kentucky

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here on our trip to North Carolina and on our way back home during our summer vacation. I have used this campground in the past as it is very close to I-75 and a reasonable driving distance from my home. This is an older campground that used to have very well kept grounds with lots of flower beds/plantings and very nice landscaping. When I arrived this time most of the flower beds and plantings have been badly neglected. In general, the whole campground is in need of some care and attention (painting of buildings, removal of weeds from flower beds, etc.). On the positive side, the owners are very friendly and the sites are long enough to accommodate a 40 ft fifth wheel and truck without unhooking. While I would not want to spend a week here, it is a perfectly adequate campground for an overnight stay while en-route to a destination. We camped at Cincinnati South Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The Great Outdoors RV Resort, Franklin, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in this park for two weeks during our summer vacation. This is a very clean, well run park that I would definitely use again when in the area. The owner is very friendly and his staff of work campers go out of their way to be helpful and friendly. The roads in the park are wide and easy to navigate and our site was easy to back into. There are no on-site fire pits but the office will provide a portable fire pit if you request one. There is a nice pool in the park that is heated and kept very clean, but outside of that there are not many activities if you have younger children. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Elkhart Campground, Elkhart, Indiana

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

I stayed here one night when bringing my fifth wheel to Elkhart for service. The campground is well maintained with wide interior roads that are easy to maneuver. The pull through site I had was grassy and level and utilities were conveniently located. There is one strange feature to the campground, several of the pull through streets dead-end (K, J, and I), you come into the sites on an angle and then have to turn 120 degrees to get out of the site going toward the exit. Also, if you try to turn down Gita Avenue there is a very sharp 90 at the end where it meets B Street that would be very difficult to make with a large unit. As long as you pay close attention to the map when entering and exiting the campground you can easily avoid these issues. We camped at Elkhart Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Volunteer Park Family Campground, Heiskell, Tennessee

Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here overnight on our way back from a family vacation in Florida. The campground has long pull throughs so we were able to keep our truck hooked to our camper during our stay. Camp sites were paved and had trees that provided shade. A nice, clean park, I would stay here again if I was in the area. We camped at Volunteer Park Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Orlando / Kissimmee KOA, Kissimmee, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2014 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice, well maintained park. The staff is very friendly and very service oriented. Sites are large and easy to get in and out of. We stayed here over the busy Christmas season, but even though the park was filled to capacity all the facilities were spotlessly clean and the campground was always quiet. My only complaint with this campground is the WiFi service, the service was weak and when I was able to connect the service was very, very slow ... it is the slow WiFi that caused me to lower my rating of the park to a 9 instead of a 10. We camped at Orlando / Kissimmee KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Westgate RV Campground, London, Kentucky

Date of Stay: December, 2014 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small campground located beside the Budget Host Motel. You check into the campground in the front lobby of the motel. The campground is not fancy, but offers full service 50 amp sites and a clean bathhouse facility. As an overnight stopping point it offers easy access to I-75 and there is a small truck stop right across the street that you can refuel at. The campground has four "pull through" sites but due to tight turns into the sites I couldn't get into them with a 40 ft fifth wheel. Fortunately the campground is fairly open in the center and the pull through sites are easy to back into. This is not a campground that I would want to spend a weekend at, but as an easily accessible overnight campground it was a good value for the money. We camped at Westgate RV Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Log Cabin Resort & Campground, Curtis, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Campground is located about a mile outside of the town of Curtis on the shores of the Big Manistique Lake. Rating is for the larger pull-through campsites in the front of the park, which are large and nicely treed. The smaller campsites in the front of the park are close together and would probably only rate a 7. The campground is clean and well maintained and the owners are very friendly. We camped at Log Cabin Resort & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

TeePee Camprground, Mackinaw City, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Park has a very nice view of the Mackinaw Bridge and Lake Huron. I prefer the 50 amp sites in the back of the park as they have a nice view of the water and bridge and are far enough from the road that there is no road noise. These sites are large enough for a 40 ft fifth wheel and are wider than the sites at the front of the park. The park does not have any sewer sites, which is a negative for me, but we stay here every time we come to Mackinaw City because of the view and the friendly owners. We camped at TeePee Camprground in a Fifth Wheel.

Colony Country Campground (Closed), North Liberty, Iowa

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed overnight in this campground when returning from vacation. I requested and was provided a long pull-through so that I did not have to unhook my camper. Campground was clean and well cared for and the office staff was friendly, making this a good campground for an overnight stay. The campground does have one strange feature : The entry road to the larger sites is before the office making it necessary to back up to make the turn into the road. While it is a straight back-up with longer units your camper will end up backing onto the main road so it is important to watch for traffic (fortunately it is a rural road with little traffic). We camped at Colony Country Campground (Closed) in a Fifth Wheel.

Area's Finest Country View Campground, Ogallala, Nebraska

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed overnight at this campground on our way home from vacation. The campground has long, level pull-through sites and the staff was friendly and helpful. The directional signs for the campground are small and easy to miss and I had difficulty finding the campground in the dark. This was compounded by the fact that my GPS did not locate the campground and gave inaccurate directions (not the campground's fault but worth being aware of). We camped at Area's Finest Country View Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Durango Riverside Resort & RV Park, Durango, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2013 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in this park for 17 nights while visiting Durango and Silverton. The park staff were friendly and very helpful. The park is well maintained with many flower beds and nice views of the river. The sites in the park are long enough to accommodate larger RVs but are not very wide. The park has a nice pool that is kept clean and warm. We camped at Durango Riverside Resort & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Pine Grove RV Park and Campground, Greenwood, Nebraska

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Park was well laid out and access to the sites was easy, even for larger units. Pull through sites are long and spacious, I was able to keep my truck connected to my 40 ft fifth wheel for an overnight stay. Campground was clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. Only negative for this park is that there are no directional signs off of the freeway telling you where to turn (Mynard Rd is directly across from the Cenex truck stop (you make a left turn onto Mynard Rd when coming off the freeway). You follow the road around for a quarter mile and the campground entrance is on the left. The campground entrance itself is signed and easy to spot from Mynard Rd. We camped at Pine Grove RV Park and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Dakota Ridge RV Park, Golden, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2013 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here overnight on our way to Durango. The park is aesthetically pleasing with paved roads and paved sites, but also has a few draw backs. The roads are tight and narrow and while I was able to get to my site, it required careful maneuvering of my 40 ft fifth wheel. The pull through site was long enough to remain hooked up during my stay, but the paved pad was not level so I did have to use leveling blocks to get level side to side. One feature I particularly dis-like is the pull though sites are set up with shared common areas so the doors of the campers point toward each other. I prefer not to face my neighbor when I am sitting at my picnic table. While this campground worked well for an overnight stay I would probably not select this park for a longer duration stay. We camped at Dakota Ridge RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Sioux Falls KOA, Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here on our way home from out west. The campground has good access to the freeway. The campground staff was friendly and was able to accommodate my request for a long pull through so I would not have to unhook my truck. The sites in this campground are level and utilities are logically placed, but they are closely packed together. The campground does not have fire rings ... if you want to have a campfire you need to rent an above ground fire pit from the office. Because of its easy access to the freeway this campground makes a good overnight stop but because of how close the campsites are together I probably wouldn't stay here more than a couple of days. We camped at Sioux Falls KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Rafter J Bar Ranch Camping Resort, Hill City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2012 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for two weeks while visiting South Dakota. This is a very nice campground with large spacious sites. Campground staff was friendly and the campground was very clean and well maintained. The campground is divided into several sections ranging from wide open flat grasslands to heavily shaded treed areas. It is important to review the campground website and make sure the area of the park you are placed in meets your needs (i.e. some of the areas do not have bathhouses and are far from the office and pool). Also be aware that the wireless internet coverage is spotty and the service is slow in the campsites. There are internet connections in the office that are faster and more reliable. The site we were on was not overly level and required several boards under the tires in able to get the camper level. We camped at Rafter J Bar Ranch Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.
