Lake Conroe / Houston North KOA , Montgomery, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

We camped here several years ago under a different name, but it's good quality hasn't changed. One of the better KOA's. Easy off of Hwy 105 and plenty of room for parking at the registration office. Staff guided us to our site, after hours, even tho they could have left 20min earlier at closing time. The pull thru sites are plenty long, wide and level, but drop off on ea. end due to being on a hillside. This can make leveling tricky. All utilities are up to spec and conveniently located. This is a large park and with all it's amenities, could be considered resort class. We camped at Lake Conroe / Houston North KOA in a Motorhome.

Camp Mi Casa on the Route RV Park, Carthage, Missouri

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Our stay was enjoyable. Staff live very near, knew the area and directed us to the local entertainment. They have an easy registration process and really care about their campers. The park is on RT66 in a secluded, country setting, but minutes from Carthage and Joplin. Roads and sites were gravel and mostly level, wide and easily long enough for any camper, toad or other combination to park or maneuver. Some shade, but trees didn't impede the slides, awning or satellite reception. Utilities were as expected and up to spec. Wifi is reliable even during the heavy use times. It's a nice neighborhood of overnighters and extended stays. It's still being developed, so during our next stay, it'll be interesting to see what's changed added. The aerial map is misleading and not correct when you zoom in. Zooming too close uses an older aerial photo of the park which was a junked out mobile home park. As you zoom out, the correct development of the park will appear. We camped at Camp Mi Casa on the Route RV Park in a Motorhome.

Musicland Kampground, Branson, Missouri

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

The staff was accommodating and considerate. Utilities were as expected and conveniently located. Our site, being one of the largest, had ample width and length for a big rig and car parking. The roads are asphalt and sites are gravel and level considering this park is located in very hill terrain. Maneuvering a big rig (45') without the tow takes some skill. Roads are narrow and have minimum ground clearance at turns on hills. The neighborhood was quiet and safe. Our satellite worked fine even tho it was on the edge of the satellite possible row. Dog park is disgusting, not maintained and in a poorly planned location. Rules are loosely enforced. We'll try another park on our next Branson visit. We camped at Musicland Kampground in a Motorhome.

Parker's RV Park, Harrison, Arkansas

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Our stay was enjoyable. Nice staff and easy registration process. The camp has a joint use entrance with a business, so there isn't excessive room to maneuver and you might get caught stopped in the highway, but there is a WB center turn lane. Our row of sites were less than 100ft. from the highway and road sound is channeled towards campgrounds. Gravel sites were level, wide and long enough for the camper and toad. Some shade, but trees didn't impede the slides, awning or satellite reception. Utilities were as expected and up to spec. Only thing missing was the cable outlet, but nothing a splice barrel couldn't solve. Wifi was reliable and fast even during the heavy use times. It's a nice neighborhood of extended stays and overnighters. We camped at Parker's RV Park in a Motorhome.

Lake Fort Smith State Park, Mountainburg, Arkansas

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

This campground holds to the expectations of a State Park. Plenty of room to maneuver and park at sites. A camping atmosphere in the woods and wildlife is plentiful. The roads and sites are asphalt and concrete. Grills, fire rings and utilities except for water pressure is up to spec and conveniently located to the site. Most sites have tent pads and ample room for the other camping necessities. The park is well maintained and has amenities for all campers. It is on our return list. We camped at Lake Fort Smith State Park in a Motorhome.

Creekside RV Park, Broken Bow, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Easy on and off US 259 (North or South bound), but watch for the white, Creekside signs on the West side. Park is on one of the few long, straight stretches of 259. Roads and sites are wide gravel and level. Utilities are up to spec, altho water pressure is a little high. There are no facilities or wifi, yet, but it's in the works. That's why my value rating is so low. Staff is nice and it was easy to register. It's only a few minutes away from Broken Bow. Camp was quiet, but not well lit. Right now it is a good stopover camp, but that is changing. We camped at Creekside RV Park in a Motorhome.

I-29 Hwy 34 Campground, Pacific Junction, Iowa

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Enjoyed our stay. All utilities were as expected. It is a nice overnight or longer campground. No frills, but neighbors were nice, roads OK and easy maneuvering. It's next to I-29, but noise wasn't bad. It is on our return list. We camped at I-29 Hwy 34 Campground in a Motorhome.

Oasis RV Resort, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This park still looks new, 7 yrs. later. Easy off and on I-40. The park roads and sites are paved/concrete and level with concrete patios. Road layout makes it easy maneuvering in a big rig. Sites range in width, but are adequate to leave the tow attached and gravel buffers. Every utility and connection is conveniently located and are up to spec. Facilities, grounds, recreations and luxuries were clean and maintained. Neighbors and staff were friendly and accommodating. This park has replaced our regular stopover/destination park in Amarillo. We camped at Oasis RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Pueblo South / Colorado City KOA, Pueblo, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We are not loyal to KOA's, but this is by far the best we've found even for their standard and near the top of all of our camping experiences. But first just the facts. Easy off and on I-25. The park roads and sites are paved/gravel and level with some concrete patios. Road layout makes it easy maneuvering in a big rig. Sites range in width, but most are adequate to park beside the camper and grass buffers. Every utility and connection is conveniently located and are up to spec. Everything worked! No surprises and lots of entertainment for kids. Facilities, grounds, recreations and luxuries were clean and maintained. Neighbors were friendly, but the staff was beyond exceptional.

The owner, lives on site and should be proud of his park. He moved us into a cabin, kept our food refrigerated and generally gave us confidence when we had mechanical problems with our camper. All other staff were just as friendly and accommodating and escort you to your site. Park fills nightly and stays about 1/2 full. We camped at Pueblo South / Colorado City KOA in a Motorhome.

NRA Whittington Center Campground, Raton, New Mexico

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We camped in the West grounds which have 72 sites and 2.5mi. off the paved highway. They are the more primitive, full hookup sites, but no other public facilities. East grounds have facilities. Roads and sites are gravel and well maintained. Most sites are level, have plenty of length, width and spacing from other sites. Some sites have shade a portion of the day. Utilities are up to spec and conveniently located. The main destination for this complex is it's shooting ranges, outdoors and remoteness...we seldom heard any noise. We camped at NRA Whittington Center Campground in a Motorhome.

Ponil Campgrounds, Cimarron, New Mexico

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is an older park. Roads are dirt, some sites are paved, but mainly grass/dirt and level. Maneuvering a big rig can be a challenge, just watch for trees. Roads are wide but not well defined. Sites have shade, utility locations are adequate and up to spec. The owner is nice, lives on site and understands the park is dated. This is a no frills park as most neighbors are Philmont Staff or Boy Scouts coming to the Ranch. We camped at Ponil Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

Fort Amarillo RV Resort, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Pretty easy getting off/on I-40, but far enough away to not hear traffic. The roads and sites are gravel and level, but it's tight maneuvering. Our site wasn't quite long enough for the camper and tow: supposed to be 70ft. and narrow. There are buffer fences or bushes between sites. Utilities are up to spec and I suspect the infrastructure is good.

BUT

The whole camp and facilities are looking pretty tired, hurting for maintenance and the neighborhood is not friendly. There's lots of construction, but it's not getting finished. "No Cross" tape keeps you away from many parts of the grounds, facilities and entertainment. The Fort's prop structures are rotting, taped off and near collapse. Buildings are used for storage, not entertainment. The park's at capacity, but the money's going somewhere else. We've found another Park for future stops. We camped at Fort Amarillo RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Mountain Views at Rivers Edge RV Resort, Creede, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Easy access from Hwy 149. The park roads in the Resort portion are gravel and sites are dirt and level. Road layout makes it easy maneuvering in a big rig. Sites are gigantic (40' x 80') and range in width, but more than adequate to park beside/behind the camper with fencing buffers. Every utility and connection is conveniently located and are up to spec. Facilities, grounds, recreations and luxuries were clean and maintained. Neighbors are friendly and helpful, staff is accommodating and escort you to your site. This is a destination park with gated access and some lots owned by campers. We camped at Mountain Views at Rivers Edge RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Ratcliff Lake, Kennard, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Even tho the park road makes a loop around the lake, use the West entrance. It's tight, but possible to get a 45' MH to your site. Sites are deep in length and wide, but you have to pick the most level area. We didn't use any utilities, no 50A, so it was dry camping. Nice park atmosphere and quiet. We camped at Ratcliff Lake in a Motorhome.

Oak Creek RV Park, Weatherford, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Oak Creek is our usual stop when we're West of DFW. Always well maintained and pleasant staff. Easy off/on I20, but not too close to the Interstate noise. Level concrete pads and paved roads through-out that are not challenging in a big rig. Sites are plenty wide and long. Utilities easy to hook up, dependable and up to spec. The long term and overnighters are in different locations and the park is still expanding. We camped at Oak Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.
