DeSoto Resort State Park, Fort Payne, Alabama

Date of Stay: November, 2009 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We camped here over Thanksgiving and my wife's only request was that she didn't want to cook Thanksgiving dinner in a camper. A short search of the internet found the DeSoto lodge was serving a Thanksgiving buffet! This campground has just been renovated and has all new sites with full hook ups. That's right, full hook ups including cable and sewer in a state park. This might be normal for some, but for those of us from Georgia this is unheard of. We would highly recommend this campground. We camped at DeSoto Resort State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Sleepy Hollow, Sautee Nacoochee, Georgia

Date of Stay: July, 2009 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

If your interested in just a place to park, this campground might work. One thing is for sure, there wasn't any kind of customer service when we were there. The office is only open Thursday through Saturday. The sign said to go to the manager's trailer to check in but there wasn't anyone there either. There was power, water, and sewer hook ups and the site was level. From the looks of this campground it was built in the 50's and hasn't been updated since then. Don't waste your time here! We camped at Sleepy Hollow in a Travel Trailer.

Lake Lanier Islands Campground, Buford, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2009 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Overall this is an O.K. campground. The first campsite we were given was so uneven and rough that we had to move. Once we found a level campsite everything worked fine. The showers were less than great. This campground is in need of updating. The girls at the front desk said Lake Lanier Islands will most likely close the campground down soon. They now own Shoal Creek, and they are going to put there efforts in to that CG. We camped at Lake Lanier Islands Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Sweetwater COE, Cartersville, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2009 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

A very nice campground. The park is very well maintained and the bathrooms were very clean. The only complaint that anyone could have for this park would be the lack of full hookups, but that's what you get with a COE park. The site was very level and clean as usual. We camped at Sweetwater COE in a Travel Trailer.
