L & D RV Park, Forsyth, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2008 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Located 2.5 miles off the interstate, this rural campground was a pleasant surprise. Fairly level 50 amp long pull throughs are available for overnight stops. The pool was still covered, but I think this is a campground that we would use as a base to visit the area on another trip. We spent a quiet night here and had a lovely bay stallion by the office as a neighbor. Good Sam discount made the price $20. We camped at L & D RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Golden Isles Vacation Park, Brunswick, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2008 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

I give this park a 4 simply for its location and the free Wi-Fi and cable. The sites are narrow, the campground has not been improved in the two years since we were here last and the same tired trailers of permanent residents are still here. At lunchtime the parking lot out front is packed for the noon buffet, the staff is friendly and the price using Passport America is very reasonable for a full hook up 50 amp site with cable and Wi-Fi. We were next door to a family with several children and a pit bull. Enough said. We camped at Golden Isles Vacation Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Mountaineer Motel and Campground, Cameron, South Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2008 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This park is acceptable for an overnight stay. There are piles of construction debris scattered here and there throughout the park. The 30 amp wiring is poorly wired at some sites. The advertised "new" shower house appears unfinished and has a hole where a doorknob or latch should be and a toilet sitting on the porch. The pull through sites are fairly level, the road noise is high and ambiance is nil. The owner accepts the Passport America discount. I would never pay the $30 full charge to stay here. We camped at Mountaineer Motel and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
