Jordan Lake SRA / Poplar Point Campground, Apex, North Carolina

Date of Stay: January, 2010 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Great state-run campground. Lots of sites, some directly on the lake. Lots of double sites for camping with friends ($44 for double sites, but most doubles are on the waterfront). It's a long way to a shopping center, so bring everything you need. Not much else to do in the area: 20 miles to Raleigh/Cary, 15 miles to Chapel Hill/Durham. Nice summer-time park with lots of fishing, boating, swimming, just relaxing in the shade. Propane and basic supplies available close-by. We camped at Jordan Lake SRA / Poplar Point Campground in a Motorhome.

New Green Acres RV Park , Walterboro, South Carolina

Date of Stay: January, 2010 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This park is only OK for an overnight stop. But I would not want to stay here for more than 1 day. It is very close to I-95 and the road noise is very noticeable. There are some long-term campers here with run-down units. Be sure to double-check the electrical connection before hook-up. I did not and it cost me $$ because the 30 amp had no circuit breaker on the box, so it blew up (melted) the connections in the electrical box inside my RV. I complained to the office and they were not nice about it. Said that I should have opened the main breaker box up and fixed it myself! If I ever stay here again, I'll use my generator and not hook up! May be better off wallydocking down the road, than paying to stay here. We camped at New Green Acres RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very clean park. Mostly snowbirds and full-timers in the winter. Good base to use for exploring the space coast and Port St. Lucie area. Office staff is very nice and helpful. Close to I-95 and Florida Turnpike, but road noise is not noticeable. Very convenient for shopping/dining. Good security. We camped at Treasure Coast RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Key Largo Kampgrounds and Marina, Key Largo, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2010 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park to use as a base for exploring the Keys and Miami area. The sites and roads were kind of tight, especially with the permanent trailers everywhere and the sheds, etc. they were allowed to have on their sites. Very convenient to shopping/dining. Good security. Hard to find the entrance in the dark, because the park entrance is off of the main road and there is no sign to direct you from the highway. We camped at Key Largo Kampgrounds and Marina in a Motorhome.
