Great rustic campground, with nice pines and lots of places to walk. The camp hosts were very nice both times we were here, Oct 08 and Sept 09. We stayed at the last weekend of the year in order to attend the Flagstaff Science Week both years. There are sites with just water and sites with water and sewer, but no electric on any. You can run generators, but it's great that most people didn't when we were here. The quiet is awesome! There is also nice little museum right by the campground as there used to be an active base here. This campground is located just south of Flag, west of I-17, with the airport to the east. Great location, easy to buzz into town, but quiet and remote for relaxing. It's a little tight for bigger rigs, but the camp hosts were helpful in situating us. We have a 35foot Class A with one slide out. There was a Boy Scout Camp out going on in the campground this year and there was plenty of room and the noise was nicely muffled by the pines. Just a hint of reveille here and there. This campground is part of a larger facility: it's about 400 acres, but part is military and part is public. I don't know where the other person stayed in Cabins - I think she's referring to the Air Force Recreation Side, but that is only available to DOD personnel.

We've been to Campland on the Bay three times in about five years. Each time is in March and we try to get in section G or B (with full hookups and cable) because the Amphitheater Park is a nice big green area to look at and enjoy even though you are sardined in with your neighbors. There are both pull ins and back ins, so you can choose your view. This is San Diego. Some great things to do and see, but property is at a premium. Our rate reflects Passport America which is half price (only during the winter season). The location is great, right on Mission Bay: bay front, not oceanfront, but there's no option for bay front. It's only 5 minutes from Mission Beach, Pacific Beach and Sea World, only 15 minutes from downtown San Diego, Balboa Park, Zoo and San Diego Harbor where the cruise ships come in, the aircraft carrier USS Midway is open for tours and the most awesome Maritime Museum offers sailing trips and excellent tours of ships (this was my favorite thing this time). Campland has two pools and two hot tubs. One pool is heated, the other not. My 9 year old son was swimming in the non-heated pool for an hour or two, but this was after we had just come back from playing in the ocean on Mission Beach. One thing I really appreciate about Campland is the free wireless. They also have lots to do all year round, several activities every day (check schedule on their website), ping pong, horseshoes, beach volleyball, bike, boat and golf cart rentals, game room, small restaurant/ice cream/snack bar on premises. It's a very nice place, although I can't see paying full price. We come during the winter for a few days each year during half price options. It's busy on weekends, but weekdays are pretty laid back. Was still not vacant, but not packed. Overall, a nice place for families. Sites are a little close and there are no pull through ones. The bay has sometimes been contaminated and the bay beach closed, but this year it was not. Just something you might want to call ahead about if that is important to you.

A nice enough park if you're looking to RV near DC, but Wi-Fi was a constant problem. Even when a strong signal was available, it was so slow as to be useless. I called the office and was berated and then hung up on by an employee who claimed that if we got a signal, that's all they could do and there was no one to escalate the problem to. The owner did come to our unit and apologized to us for his behavior, but also thought there was nothing wrong with his wireless. I then talked to several people and they all had the same slowness. Those people were all at the rec center by the pool which was reported to be the strongest signal in the park (we were parked just across from that center). As you can see, Wi-Fi is very important to me. It's part of what allows me to travel all summer, that I can work remotely. We might stay here again, but I'll arrange for other Wi-Fi access and not depend on it. I'd rather go back to the Hotel Harrington where the Wi-Fi worked great and I could walk to the sites every day rather than taking a loooong convoluted bus ride to a Metro station at the end of the line. It took an hour minimum to get into (and then out of) the city each day. When I add up my convenience and work access, this was no bargain. The campground itself was nice. The sites are close together, but the pool was very fun and the people in the office (other than one), were very nice and the people in the snack bar were outstanding! Those poor folks are working hard and the food is good!

Enjoyable park with fun, although COLD pool. :) Fun, old fashioned, metal slides attached to pool gave me a bit of a heart attack watching my boy go up and down, but he had an absolute blast! Wild turkeys were wandering about and added to the rural feel of this camp even thought it is not far off the freeway. We were in the open field and felt no problem. Staff and other campers were friendly and we would stay there again.

I LOVED this campground! It was dumb luck that we found it and I'm planning on stopping there again this year. This campground has an awesome quarry for swimming as well as a regular pool. There's a dive board and two platforms out in the quarry. A dive shop is on the premises for those who are certified, but we had a great time enjoying the sandy beach and clear water with a rocky bottom. :) In addition, there are all the normal amenities that I crave, such as WiFi, Cable (only some sites), lots of pull throughs, grass and level sites. :) There is also a nice store and snack bar. The employees were pleasent, helpful and friendly. We only planned an overnight here, but we had such a great time that we stayed a second night. I'd love to find more places like this... Can you tell that I like it? :)
