Clear Creek RV Park, Golden, Colorado

Date of Stay: October, 2009 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great city owned park, not to big but if you can get in try it. You need to call one day ahead of arrival to check on availability, no reservations. Mgr will hold you a spot if one is available. I wouldn't try if in a big rig. Our HM is 36 ft and it was tight, very tight. Had to park toad down the street. Sites are next to the Golden River walk and lots of locals use it for their daily exercise. Lots of dog walkers also. We loved our stay of four days. Golden is a fun town. We camped at Clear Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.

Clabough's Campground, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2009 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

I would stay here if no other campgrounds were available. It is a very large park and full of full time residents. The spaces are gravel and very close together. There are only four restrooms/showers for almost 400 spots. Restrooms may be 100 yds away. The Cable tv was excellent, as was electric, water and sewer. Next time I'll try other campgrounds in the area first. We camped at Clabough's Campground in a Motorhome.

Cades Cove Campground (NPS Campground), Townsend, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2009 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is my favorite on earth. The cove is lovely and you can spend days hiking around the cove or just waking the 11 mile loop road. The Loop Road and the roads in the CG are in bad need of repair and are scheduled to be re-surfaced in May 2010. The loop road will be closed at that time. Sites are well shaded. Restrooms are clean but no showers. Very nice dump station in CG. Fresh water is available at dump station or at restrooms. Store is well stocked and bike rentals available. Horseback tours are available in the warmer months. No cell phone service and limited over the air TV reception. Caution on entering check-in station low overhanging branches. Staff at this facility are very friendly and helpful. We camped at Cades Cove Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Elkmont Campground (NPS Campground), Gatlinburg, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2009 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

If you are looking for a great CG near Gatinburg and can boon dock, this is a great CG. Restrooms are nearby all sites but no showers available. Sites are level and natural. Park federal officials at check-in are typical bureaucrats not very helpful. However the walk-around hosts are very helpful. Hiking trails are all around. Mountain stream (little river) is beautiful. There is no dumping station at the CG. It is located across from the Sugarlands visitor center. Fresh water is available from faucets located near the restrooms. There is a limited amount of overflow parking available. This may be a must if you have a big RV and toad or TV. At your site, you must park on the paved site only not on grass. We love this CG and its surroundings. We camped at Elkmont Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Salina KOA, Salina, Kansas

Overall Rating:

We found this park very nice. The front office staff was great...especially Mom. She took us to our site. There is lots of room between sites. Pizza delivery is available. The sites were not paved but were well maintained. We were only there for one night and would definitely stay again if in Salina. We camped at Salina KOA in a Motorhome.

Whistle Stop RV and Antiques, Colby, Kansas

Date of Stay: June, 2009 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

This is a basic "over nighter" no thrills, no playgrounds, and no pool. Just a place to pull off for the night. Owners were friendly. Restaurant was nice. Small country cooking. Located next to Wal-Mart so you can walk over and pick-up supplies. Lots are unshaded and not paved most are on grass. I would stay again if I needed a place for the night. We camped at Whistle Stop RV and Antiques in a Motorhome.

Prince William Forest RV Campground, Dumfries, Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2009 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great low cost CG for home basing while you visit DC area. It's a private run CG within the National Forest. We had a 36' MH and space was tight so we parked toad in over flow parking. Plenty of shade. Showers and restrooms are very clean as is laundry room. Pool is small but clean. Very small play ground. Convenient to shopping centers and restaurants. Water, elect and sewer connections worked fine. Asphalt pads with picnic table. No fire ring or grill. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Prince William Forest RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Holiday Trav-L-Park, Virginia Beach, Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2009 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very large park with plenty of well shaded sites. The week we arrived it had been pouring rain. Most of the sites are on grass/dirt/mud so we up-graded to the deluxe sites with concrete pads for MH and picnic table. As others have noted, jet noise is very loud during the day but it ends a night. All hook-ups were fine. Stores were very large and well stocked. Pools were everywhere, tennis courts, and plenty of play grounds were scattered thru-out the facile. Trolley service to beach is available every 20 mins until 2:00 am. Will definitely be back. We camped at Holiday Trav-L-Park in a Motorhome.
