Miles Motors RV Center & Campground, Hendersonville, North Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2013 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is closed. I talked to the owners today, and they said that it is unknown at this time if and when the campground will reopen under new ownership. I hope it does, as this was our favorite campground in the Asheville area. We camped at Miles Motors RV Center & Campground in a Motorhome.

Very friendly and helpful staff, beautiful campground, excellent Wi-Fi. Our site was far from being level. We had to use all of our leveling material to get the RV level. We camped at Barrie KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Pioneer Village Campground, Max Meadows, Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a work in progress. The campground has an excellent layout, long pull-throughs with plenty of space between sites. Most of the sewer hook-ups are at the front of the pull-throughs and need to have a second hook-up placed in the middle or rear of the site where RVs can hook up without needing long sewer hose extensions. The owners are very friendly and helpful, and have great plans for the full development of the campground. We camped at Pioneer Village Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tumble Hill, Cohocton, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2011 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful sites in woods which provide lots of shade. Most sites large with plenty of room. Park is very well maintained. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Bathroom stalls are small and a bit cramped, shower was large. Wi-Fi is very limited. Cable TV excellent. Due to trees, very limited satellite TV reception. We'll stay here again. We camped at Tumble Hill in a Fifth Wheel.

R&D Family Campground, Milford, Virginia

Date of Stay: March, 2011 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

This park is laid out on a circular ridge line in a pine forest. Most sites appeared to be level, while some had a noticeable incline. Lots of trees, some very close to the camping sites and road through the park, requiring careful driving in and out of sites. Cable TV is via DirecTV, with a central dish routed through a multiplexer and cables to each site. A limited number of DirecTV receivers are available. WiFi was very weak on the site we had, which was the most distant one from the CG office. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We camped at R&D Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Wilmington KOA, Wilmington, North Carolina

Date of Stay: March, 2011 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

This may be the best campground in the KOA chain. Well developed and exceptionally well maintained. Friendly and helpful staff. Well located for visiting Wilmington, UNC Wilmington, and Wrightsville Beach. Excellent WiFi. This is the only RV park in Wilmington. Unfortunately, the owners have established camping rates that are more in line with their monopoly, than the services provided. We camped at Wilmington KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Huge pull through sites well situated in a tall pine grove. Lots of places to walk pets. DirecTV reception good on southwest side of park. Access to I-95 was easy, but Interstate road noise was minimal. We'll use this park again. We camped at New Green Acres RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for a month at a rate of $525 per month, plus electricity. The campground staff is very friendly and helpful. Everything is well maintained. A variety of activities are planned throughout the month for those who wish to participate. Wi-Fi is excellent; we did not use the cable TV. Hiking trails and a small golf course on site. Excellent biking trails and paddling streams nearby. We hope to use this campground again someday. We camped at Thousand Palms RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Rock Ridge Campground, Sims, North Carolina

Date of Stay: January, 2011 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Nice small campground in a beautiful country setting. Sites are long and wide. Easy maneuvering on interior roads. Staff very friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi is OK when only a couple of sites are using it, but comes to a virtual standstill when more than five sites are on-line. We would certainly stop here again. We camped at Rock Ridge Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Mountain View RV Park, Palmer, Alaska

Date of Stay: July, 2008 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is still the best campground in the greater Anchorage area. Owner had to terminate free WiFi because of the cost. WiFi is now available by daily subscription at a cost of $10 a day. Ouch! Free WiFi available in Palmer Library. For hikers, there are a few trail-heads nearby which provide access to nearby peaks in the Chugach Mountains. We camped at Mountain View RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice campground, located on lake with lots of trees. Excellent restaurant. We were in site 8, which was long and mostly level. WiFi was weak, but usable. We would certainly return to this campground. We camped at Dawson Peaks Resort and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
