Natchez Trace Parkway -- Rocky Springs (NPS Campground), Rocky Springs, Mississippi

Date of Stay: March, 2010 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

Campground is crazy busy Oct 15 - Nov 20 and Mar 15 - Apr 20 when northern "snowbirds" (both Canadian and American) are on migration. When hosts are onsite (Oct 15 - Mar 25), the 10-14 day limit is enforced, but double/triple parking is allowed. Early arrival is encouraged, especially by tent campers. Late November, through early March can be idyllic, if weather cooperates. Lots of birds, small critters, and hiking/bicycling opportunities. We camped at Natchez Trace Parkway -- Rocky Springs (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

River Valley RV Park, Langham, Saskatchewan

Date of Stay: May, 2008 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

Self check in, excellent rates. Well maintained landscape, exceptionally clean restrooms and showers, friendly and concerned owner managers. Fire pits and sturdy tables at all sites. Handy next door gas station and convenience foods, no grocery store nearby. We camped at River Valley RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Morinville RV Park, Morinville, Alberta

Date of Stay: August, 2007 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Wi-Fi available for a fee, but unreliable and often not working. Gated access, small lake (pond) frontage. Very close to highway and freeway, lots of traffic noise 24 hours. Close to shopping, gas, and an easy drive to Edmonton. We camped at Morinville RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Symons Valley RV Park, Calgary, Alberta

Date of Stay: August, 2007 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Very poorly kept. Open field type RV Park that looks like a junkyard, due to the many stored RV's, vehicles, and equipment all around the perimeter, as well as plenty of just plain junk and abandoned vehicles. Very strict about rules, but lax about cleanliness. Wi-Fi access only at office, for a daily fee. We camped at Symons Valley RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Okotoks Lions Sheep River Campground, Okotoks, Alberta

Date of Stay: August, 2007 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Daily fee per pet, large dogs discouraged, some breeds banned. Cable TV only available in full service sites (37), 7-8 of these are taken up by the Lions members who man the campground, most of the rest by seasonal campers. Well maintained, secure, great area for children, with playground and shallow river. We camped at Okotoks Lions Sheep River Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Northgate Trailer and RV Park, Winnipeg, Manitoba

Date of Stay: June, 2007 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

While the Mobile Home part of the Park was acceptably maintained, the RV section was grubby, had excess noise and partying by apparent seasonal users, with approval of management. Showers were not secure (no locking doors, both mens and womans showers accessible to anyone walking in through the laundry room). Management relied on users to do all the cleaning, therefore they were filthy. However, close access to Winnipeg, shopping and fast food. We camped at Northgate Trailer and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
