Pacific Dunes Ranch and RV Resort, Oceano, California

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

We've stayed before, down in the 'affiliates section' which is ok. Problem was they put us in a site (#19) that had a huge palm tree on our left at the front edge of the 'pull through', which meant we wouldn't pull out to our left as we should have. And then they had several big rigs come in during the night parked across from us that were really too big for the sites so we didn't really have maneuvering room to get out going to the right. Luckily the people on our right left even before we did, so we were able to use the front part of their site in order to get out. Use pads under the levelers because lots of sand on each site and not all is compacted. We camped at Pacific Dunes Ranch and RV Resort in a Motorhome.

CJ's up on Grand Avenue is a good place for breakfast. Very popular and busy, but a reasonable diner.

Duncan Mills Camping Club, Duncans Mills, California

Date of Stay: October, 2015
Overall Rating:

This was our third stay at this park. Very close to the ocean, nice walk down to the Russian River. 30 amp power, but sewer included. We use this as our week between stays at Thousand Trails Russian River and TT Morgan Hills and really enjoy our 'quiet' week here. Rate reflects our $0/night cost under ROD. We camped at Duncan Mills Camping Club in a Motorhome.

Walk to the coffee shop in the morning, both restaurants are good. Try the Smoked salmon omelette made with egg whites for breakfast at Cape Fear.

Thousand Trails / Morgan Hill Preserve, Morgan Hill, California

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $3.00
Overall Rating:

This is a Thousand Trails park and as such it isn't going to be a 5-Star place to stop. If you want that, go somewhere else. For us the low cost, convenient to family and friends, adequate sized sites are what is important. They paved the road coming into the park from last year which made the journey in so much better. They were actively working to clean the grounds - lots of weekenders means that come Monday the staff is very busy. The only negative thing is they don't have enough dumpsters to be able to go a week between having trashed hauled out. Yes, there are a lot of people living fulltime in the park - you will find that all over the country now. Most people are nice. They implemented a new card system for the laundry. Cost $4 for the card, but then it is $1.00 to wash (30 min) and $1.00 to dry - and the dryers will hold two wash loads. so all in all, not a bad idea. 50 amp sites (G section) are side-by-side hookups and because of the drought, the grass area in between sites is now just dirt. Can't blame the park for the drought. We camped at Thousand Trails / Morgan Hill Preserve in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Try Betsy's diner, in same shopping area as Safeway, for breakfast. The Starbucks is just 5 minutes away. Also Outlet shopping in nearby Gilroy. Plus some very nice wineries close by for tasting/buying.

Thousand Trails / Russian River Resort, Cloverdale, California

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $3.00
Overall Rating:

It was incredibly hot (104) while we were here and we were able to nab the ONLY 50 amp site in the park. Site also had good view of sky so not a problem for satellite. Number of trees means that most people had some shade during the day. Satellite coverage is so-so. This is an older park, so if you are looking for a 5-star resort, this isn't it. Lots of families around - it was Labor Day weekend. For the most part the staff did a very good job of keeping things going well. We camped at Thousand Trails / Russian River Resort in a Motorhome.

We stay here while visiting all of the wineries in the Sonoma Valley so this is really a place for us to sleep and recoup after a day of wine tasting. Try Zuni's for breakfast. Starbucks is in Cloverdale.

Lake Pleasant RV Park, Bothell, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Because they know there are very few options they over charge. Fact of life for urban parks, but that means you are paying for amenities you don't get. Sites can be a little narrow and utilities are in the back in for pull-through sites, so you can't keep cars hooked up for overnights. Even worse, no weekly or monthly rates, so longer stays are prohibitively expensive. We camped at Lake Pleasant RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Safeway across the street and an Ivars 'fast food' restaurant, good food if a little expensive, but it is Ivar's. Safeway also has gas station with it. Now 2 lanes all the way from I-5 to the park. Road construction is complete. Verizon VERY SLOW as you are down in a hollow.

Snoqualmie River RV Park and Campground, Fall City, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Park is OK for a stay of a week or so. Short supply of parks in the general Seattle area. Entrance road is horrible - really not wide enough for two lanes, so you must go slow. Speed bumps every few feet. Typical riverside park with elevated electrical hookup because of being in flood plain. Staff friendly, but there is a depressed feeling about the place. Everything is JUST OK. Lots of weekenders which is to be expected because of the river. We camped at Snoqualmie River RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Snoqualmie Falls is just a short drive up the river. If a fan of 'Twin Peaks' make sure you go to North Bend and stop at Tweadys and a cup of coffee & cherry pie. Also in North Bend is an outlet mall. Issaquah is nearby, with Costco store next to their headquarters. RV Park is next door to a golf course. Raging River Cafe is a great place for breakfast - have their cinnamon roll french toast with homemade sausage patty.

Midway RV Park, Centralia, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Only negative about this park is that the utilities are all at the back of each site - perfect for 5ers not so good for motorhomes. Other than that, easy in and out, can walk to Judy's for breakfast - good food & a lot of it, quiet at night (no road noise), clean laundry, close to shopping, etc. Good place to stay while visiting relatives. We camped at Midway RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Outlet mall just down the road, including Vanity Fair - great place for jeans/polo shirts at reasonable prices. Judy's good for breakfast, and just a couple of miles away (by the Centralia PO) is Berry Fields, very good breakfasts.

Meteor Crater RV Park, Winslow, Arizona

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Easy in and out from freeway. Have sites with just w/e as well as full hookup. Freeway and train noise - but then again, it is on 1-40. They offer a $2.00 discount to the Meteor Crater exhibit. We camped at Meteor Crater RV Park in a Motorhome.

Basic overnight park, just off of I-40. Easy in and out. Flying J and Loves at the off ramps from the freeway so some noise, but it is an RV park. We camped at Mountain Road RV Park in a Motorhome.

Northlake Village RV Park, Northlake, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Would have rated higher but the road going into the park is atrocious. Huge potholes and the trees aren't trimmed back so you will end up with scratches because oncoming traffic is speeding down the road. Blind corner limits ability to use the center of the road. If road was improved this would be a '9'. We camped at Northlake Village RV Park in a Motorhome.
