Forest Ridge Campground and RV Park (Formerly Hospitality Woods RV par, Ellsworth, Maine

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Liked this campground although it was a 40 minute drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. The site was level and had some shade. It was near the laundry room and showers. The washer/dryer costs were reasonable. It was very convenient. The check-in was a bit bumpy but the owner?/manager came by later with a nice word and refunded $12 discrepancy between the printed cost and the charge on the office computer. I appreciated his personal touch. Won me over. I appreciate those personal touches. We camped in a motorhome. We camped at Forest Ridge Campground and RV Park (Formerly Hospitality Woods RV par in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Level campsites, beautiful location, plenty of space between sites and access for our TV satellite all made for a truly great stay. We loved it here and it was probably the best of all the campgrounds we've been to in the last three months. It was truly wonderful. We camped in a motorhome. Oak Haven Family Campground, Wales, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We liked the park, the folks were friendly enough. Our parking spot was cramped in a corner next to a unit. Then they boxed us in with another rig the next day. Had to ask the unit people in front of us when we got ready to leave after 3 nights. Not too impressed with those things but it turned out to be a pretty nice park. Kind of a mixed bag. Liked the pool, we were able to get satellite TV which was important to us. We were not too far away from a couple surrounding state capitals so that was good. Dump station was fine. We camped in a motorhome. We camped at Oak Haven Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Mountain Springs Camping Resort, Shartlesville, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

High season rates for adequate site. It was pull through but had to unhook and maneuver to get to over to right side of site. Neighbor's awning hung over to our space and picnic table partially on our site. He wasn't home so we managed. Glad to get satellite access for TV though there were some trees. Staff was very friendly, helpful. Pool looked great though we didn't use it. Park was well maintained. Next time we'd probably go down an exit and camp free at a store parking lot. We camped at Mountain Springs Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Cross Country Campground, Denver, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

We were looking for a convenient over night stop to see friends in the area. Site #R34 worked out great. Level asphalt, pull-through site with open access for DirecTV. 50 amp service. The band/DJ? was setting up when we returned after dinner but we were parked behind the game room area and didn't hear them which worked out well. We'd stay here again in our 40' motor home. We camped at Cross Country Campground in a Motorhome.

Glen Maury Park, Buena Vista, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Great overnight stop. We cringe at paying big $$ for a one night stay but this is quite the opposite. Easy to find the park from I-81. Streets through town were wide and no issue for motorhome and tow. We parked in the wide oval grass area and had great spacing from our nearest neighbor. Open skies in the middle of the field so DirecTV not an issue. Best wifi we've had at a city park! Grass mowed and well maintained grounds. Will stay here again! We camped at Glen Maury Park in a Motorhome.

Fort Dodge RV Resort, Dodge City, Kansas

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park but way over priced. I'd say the previous reviewer had it about right -- I like the park but not the price. They need to put up some directional signs. I was in the neighborhood but meandered around before I spotted the right street. Like other "Resorts" -- the name means more $$. If it is going to be called a resort, it should have a pool at the very least. Not sure I'd do it again. We camped in a 40' motor home. We camped at Fort Dodge RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Boot Hill Museum was fantastic if you like 1880's history. Fabulous! Quite undersold -- should be advertised better. It is about the best in the whole country! I wish we'd have done this years ago. Very authentic displays, videos, artifacts in museum after museum after museum. What a find!

Bailey's RV Resort, Seneca, Kansas

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Decent park. Nice view across the pond. Didn't appreciate the $2 for wifi that was not that great. Site almost level. Laundry fine. sites are very close but no problem. Owner got every square inch out of his property to park RVs. Pedestals are in the wrong place but doable. Owner not onsite so you have to call him. Apparently runs another business and he comes over to the RV site to speak with you after a few have checked in. Was an OK stop but probably would check out others down the road. No convenient way to get out of park with car. Have to back up and do a three point turn from our campsite. We camped at Bailey's RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Prairie Oasis Campground and Cabins, Henderson, Nebraska

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Great overnight stop. Easy on and off from the highway. Very well maintained. Excellent care and a nice campground. The hosts are very friendly and working hard. The 'old KOA' shows it. It is in great condition and has everything you need. Firewood for campsite was free! (who does that? most are adding a couple dollars here and there for everything). These folks are not trying to take advantage -- just interested in making our stay good so we'll come back. And we will! We camped at Prairie Oasis Campground and Cabins in a Motorhome.

Onslow Beach Campsites (Military FamCamp), Camp Lejune Marine Base, North Carolina

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We liked this campground because of its location. The Atlantic Coastal waterway and drawbridge is 100 yards in one direction and the Onslow Beach is the same distance in the other. Great location! The registration office staff are friendly and helpful and we had the pick of 1/2 dozen sites. They could be a little longer, but it was no real issue in our 40' motorhome. Another real plus is the NEX mini mart that is next door to the office. Don't think we have seen that anywhere but it is really nice to have that nearby. The wifi is poor so we were unable to connect. If you want a good signal, you have to go near the office to log on. The views and beach are great, the picnic shelters are a plus and this is a place that we will return to. For a military campground, it is a little expensive at $32. That price may affect our return. We camped at Onslow Beach Campsites (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Travis AFB FamCamp (Military FamCamp), Travis AFB, California

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

Had no trouble finding an overflow space where we camped for two nights.

Park was almost full. Adequately maintained. Dump station and gravel site in overflow was fine. Parking tow was not a problem. There were shade trees, but I was still able to use my Winegard Trv'ler DirecTV satellite. Great location and will stay there again. Campground was fine. Looks like it had been taken over and upgrades were in progress. We appreciate seeing campgrounds that are in good shape and are well maintained. Sites were level despite being on the side of a hill. It was not a problem other that being a little tight at the site. We camped at Angels Camp RV & Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Word of Life RV Park, Hudson, Florida

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park at the end of the long term park model and RV area. Some new sites with most having concrete pads. This Christian campground is open to all and follows a conservative list of activities. We enjoyed the fact we were able to take advantage of 'first time visitors stay free' policy. That was very nice. Call in reservations were good. The pool is a good distance away from the campground. Laundry facilities were adequate though dated. Campers were very friendly and we enjoyed a free Friday night concert. Facilities were good but we would not pay the rate of $60 per night. We camped in a 40' motorhome. We camped at Word of Life RV Park in a Motorhome.

The Canyon Motel & RV Park, Williams, Arizona

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

I liked this old motel/RV park. It seems to have a lot of history. The staff was friendly and gave us a good site. Our Internet and satellite TV worked fine. We only stayed one night on our way to California but it was a good choice and we would not hesitate to stay there again. We had been to the Grand Canyon the previous year and this year were just stopping on our way through to California. We would stay here in our 40-footer again.
