Lake Ogallala State Recreation Area, Ogallala, Nebraska

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Older state park which could use some updates. Nice open spots. Nestled in Cottonwoods, which when blooming can create a mess. We camped at Lake Ogallala State Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

Bozeman Hot Springs Campground (formerly Bozeman KOA), Bozeman, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

One of the oddest campgrounds we've ever stayed in. Layout is classic KOA tight. The apparent draw is the adjacent 'hot springs' which looks like an old bowling alley from the outside. Inside is an updated sprawling hot tub and pool area that was overcrowded. Walked in and walked out. Would not camp here again. We camped at Bozeman Hot Springs Campground (formerly Bozeman KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

A nicely kept parking lot with close sites. Mix of full time workers and travelers. All dirt, sites have astro-turf pads. Convenient to interstate. Good for an overnight stop. We camped at River's Edge RV & Cabins Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Devils Tower KOA, Devils Tower, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Second stay at this KOA; only real bonus is proximity to Devils Tower National Monument. Clean enough. Typical KOA tight sites in most places. Early in season so not too crowded. Windy conditions make it dusty. We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Neat park situated on Boulder River. Some sites available right along the river and with good spacing between units. Bonus of private trout ponds. Good stop along I-90, convenient to interstate. We camped at Spring Creek Campground and Trout Ranch in a Fifth Wheel.

West Glacier KOA, West Glacier, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

First KOA to crack my personal "Top 10" places to camp. Arrived early in the season, so it wasn't crowded. Immaculately kept in most respects. Clean bathrooms and facilities. Like the idea of separate family and adult swimming pools. The premium sites had landscaping, patio, and gas grills. Trade off is spacing between sites. Close to West Glacier entrance to Glacier National Park. Would definitely stay again. We camped at West Glacier KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Sundermeier RV Park, Saint Charles, Missouri

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

A "John Candy" campground...Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Next to highway, train trestle, and under approach to airport. Other than the intermittent noise, it's a clean and tidy campground. Double width sites, but close together. Good for a short stay and visiting St George. We camped at Sundermeier RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Timberline Campground, Waukee, Iowa

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $44.00

A nice park with older but cared for facilities. Setting is nice, it just happens to have an odd layout resulting in most sites being "KOA" close. We camped at Timberline Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Fort Robinson State Park, Crawford, Nebraska

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

First trip to Fort Rob and it was well worth it. Plenty to see and do including horseback riding, hiking, biking, fishing, and kayaking. Fort has planned activities and a playhouse. A lot of history at the fort. Staff very courteous and friendly. Camp site was superb, some shade and widely spaced. Would stay again. We camped at Fort Robinson State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Green Lake RV Resort, San Antonio, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent park with easy access to San Antonio. Almost brand new gated park. Camped on lake. Heated pool with hot tub. Pavilions around lake with fire rings, BBQ and food prep areas. Free dog wash. Only downside was no 'off leash' area for dogs to exercise. Would stay again. We camped at Green Lake RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Northlake Village RV Park, Northlake, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed overnight on two occasions. Nice park layout and close to interstate as well as the restaurant area of Roanoke (which is pretty neat). Park was clean. Construction along entrance road made a muddy mess. Pool was closed for season but looked nice. There was no storm facility and we were there during very heavy thunderstorm including tornadoes in Southeast Dallas. We camped at Northlake Village RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Dosewallips State Park, Brinnon, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2008 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Had a wonderful weekend at Dosewalips SP and hiked in the Olympic National Forest. Campground was well spaced out (wagon wheel parking makes it feel more open), plus there was a large open space between the wheels where kids could play. Lots of children and pets, but not overly noisy. A bit of road noise from Hwy 101, but not too bothersome. Well patroled by State Park employees and they keep the park clean. Would definitely stay again. We camped at Dosewallips State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Gilgal Oasis RV Park, Sequim, Washington

Date of Stay: May, 2008 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Very nicely maintained park with wonderful hosts. Amenities mostly for campers without children. There is a city playground (with dog run) less than a 1/2 mile away. Plenty to see and do in the Sequim area. We visited the Olympic National park and rode our bikes on the mostly paved Olympic Discovery Trail. Also nearby is the Dungeness Recreation area bordering the Strait of Juan De Fuca. Camp hosted a bon fire and there are other activities. Would definitely stay again. We camped at Gilgal Oasis RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
