River Ranch RV Resort, Lake Wales, Florida

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

River Ranch is a very very nice location. We got a rental in phase 3 - the shaded/landscaped section. There is also water front/no shade phase 5. Phase 1 & 2 are older park models with the signs of the past. I got the impression some people live here year round or just come on vacations. Office staff very outgoing and helpful. Check in parking is kind of confusing as you park in the middle of the road. Its a walk back to the office. Best to call ahead. Site had a beautiful lush landscape with paving, seating and trees. Huge cable, wifi extra cost and no att cell. Pool open with repairs going on. Long horn cattle and buffalo to be seen. Some things closed except on weekend this time of year. Bring a book. We camped at River Ranch RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

A long drive to town for food choices. Captive patrons at the onsite grill pay $10.00 for a burger and $5.00 for a domestic beer. Other choices UP from there. The general store has sandwich's and stuff. We cooked in.

Presnell's Bayside Marina & RV Resort, Port St. Joe, Florida

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

A new choice along the Gulf Coast Road. Its about 2 miles in on RT 30A east off of RT 98. Everything looks pretty new. Sites by the new pool are only about 20' wide and 45' long. Cable had 25 channels and antenna from Panama City for networks. Fishing if you walk out beyond the shore grass. No luck. But for me its the going that's important - not the catching. Office staff and grounds crew very helpful. A small shower makes the grounds pretty sloppy. Water stays puddled in any depression on the site. Town about 5 miles for supplies, auto fuel and a few eatery's. The restaurant just down the street is ok but pricy. If you need it - bring it with you. All in all a nice spot. I would stop again if in the area. We camped at Presnell's Bayside Marina & RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Encore Lake Magic RV Resort, Clermont, Florida

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

I had a partially shaded site- shade is rare here. Pool was very nice. Cable was good. No WiFi that I could pick up. Only 110 volts was a surprise with no one here. The traffic on Rt 27 has become a very big problem. Stop light to stoplight and no way to average but 30 mph. But that's not the campgrounds problem and I would stay again if in the area. We camped at Encore Lake Magic RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Ozark / Fort Rucker KOA, Ozark, Alabama

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Got a very nice site, mostly shaded and facing north. This time of year that's a real plus. Staff all cheerful and more than helpful. Huge cable and sat view if I chose. Pool inviting. Wifi. Washer/dryer at $2.50 was a price shocker. This is a good choice on the road to Florida - coming and going. We camped at Ozark / Fort Rucker KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Waffle King on 231 S does a good job. Lee's Chinese Buffet not as good as in past.

Gate pass office open on Ozark side of Ft Rucker now- so took trip to the Army Air Corp Museum on the base. Huge display of helicopters -planes and equipment. Worth the trip--no fee & donations only.

Parnell Creek RV Park, Woodville, Alabama

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

A small park and small sites. Mine was about 20'x45'. The owner is very outgoing and helpful with local info. The 4 lane to the space center is right there. Very little traffic. Easy access and easy return. No worry's about city streets and such. Basic admission to space center $25. ea. No cable but antenna got locals and sat for the rest. Wifi OK at the enclosure in center of park. The salt water pool was very refreshing. Lots of room to walk the dog. Ok for a few days to see the local area, but sites are small. We camped at Parnell Creek RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Cherry Blossom RV and Mobile Home Park (formerly Pecan Point RV Park), Dothan, Alabama

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

I am amazed by the long list of 10 ratings for this location. I have been to 10's and this is not my idea of what a 10 rating means. I expect a 10 to have a pool - expect a wifi that works away from the office - expect some shade at least part of the day - expect site paving that's not just old broken up concrete - expect a lack of road noise - expect more than one dumpster for the whole park or pickup - etc etc. This location is a 7. Maybe an 8 if they were still in the Passport America system [for at least one day]. Price does matter. There are other choices along RT 231 at Ozark {same price & pool] and Cottondale [less cost]. We camped at Cherry Blossom RV and Mobile Home Park (formerly Pecan Point RV Park) in a Travel Trailer.

Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park), Ocala, Florida

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

This is an exceptional park. It's huge in size and all roads are paved. My pull thru site was on the end of the row and was at least an acre in size. Surrounding sites were also very spacious. What wasn't cleared for the campsite was all pine woods. Everything well maintained. No bugs that we noticed. The portable dish looked out between the needles. Some sites had sewer. Not far from town. Rangers take pride in the park and are always there to help. We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Travel Trailer.

Suwannee River Rendezvous, Mayo, Florida

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Would suggest calling ahead to get a site number and unhook at the site. Do not take the camper down the single lane dirt road to the office and have to get turned around. Horror! Or park at the campground entrance and call the office for site number. Its to far to walk. Convenient access off Rt 27. Nice sites and very nice pool. Wifi if I sat by the pool. Laundry good size and very clean. No shade. Right on the Suwanee River at the office. If you need it you should bring it with you, as town is 14 miles round trip. Mayo is very small with 2 gas stations and a Subway. I did see a restaurant but not sure if it was open. I will certainly stay again when traveling in the area. We enjoyed it. International RV Park & Campground, Daytona Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Good location and close to all the restaurant chains. Bahama Breeze had good specials. Had nice pull thru and little shade. Pool could sure use a shady spot. Not much going on in town so it was very quite. Wifi was useless and would drop me after 5 minutes. We camped at International RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Okeechobee KOA, Okeechobee, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Always enjoy a stop here. In town and close to everything. But far enough out to not be congested. Easy in and out off the highway. The site had been repaved, but the power stand appeared not new. Power worked fine but only 1 50amp and 1 30 amp. Cool weather and power stable at 115volts. Large library. Wifi is useless so went across the street to Mcdonalds and got it done--very fast. We camped at Okeechobee KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Treasure Coast RV Park & Campground, Fort Pierce, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

A very nice well kept location. Got there at the end of the season. Pricy for late April and no discounts. Very wide site and paved roads. Staff very helpful. Small library for trades. Large pond for fishing but no luck. Some restaurants available on very busy RT 70. We camped at Treasure Coast RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Okeechobee KOA, Okeechobee, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Major office remodel going on, but office staff is handling it very well. Check in was pleasant. It wasn't really "Season" yet but there were a lot of sites filled. The roads are a little narrow in places, but it wasn't a problem. Too cool for the pool but it looked clean. Traded a few books at the large library. Handy to be right in town and close to restaurants/shopping. The flea markets are fun on the weekend. Inflation has found Okeechobee, although the Shanty was still reasonable . We camped at Okeechobee KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Sunshine RV Park, Lake Placid, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Went to this location because its listed in the Passport America book. Called on Sunday to make reservation but no answer. Left name/number for call back. Received no call back on Monday either. Drove 3 hours on Monday to get there and find they don't take Passport anymore. Office staff explained there policy's. Would have stayed anyway, but told they are already on winter rates. In October? I don't think so. Looked to be mostly permanent RVs with some transient spaces. The road in from hwy was paved. Narrow roads and had some trouble getting turned around. We moved on. We camped at Sunshine RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tropical Palms Resort and Campground, Kissimmee, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Had a fairly large pull thru. It was paved and had enough space with the adjoining camper. The park was full over the weekend, but you couldn't feel it. The roads and sites are wide enough to absorb everyone. The office staff were crisp and professional. The registration process all flowed very well, despite the line. The laundry is very nice. It was to cool to use the large pool. I planed on swapping some books in there library but it has fallen into abandonment. They should restock it. We camped at Tropical Palms Resort and Campground in a Travel Trailer.
