Quartz Lake State Recreation Area, Delta Junction, Alaska

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This is a lovely spot. We stayed in the gravel area by the lake, which was very nice, since few people were there. On a busy weekend, sites would be extremely tight. Think parking lot. Wooded sites had more space, but no lake view, and more mosquitoes. Very nice hosts from Tennessee. Bring everything you need, especially water. No showers, water, or dump station. Extremely clean pit toilets. We camped at Quartz Lake State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Susitna Landing, Willow, Alaska

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

This is a true gem, thanks to the operators and Alaska fish and game. The cleanest pit toilets I've ever seen. And the campground is beautiful. Wonderful, caring operator. We camped at Susitna Landing in a Motorhome.

Matanuska River Park, Palmer, Alaska

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in the upper campground for larger vehicles. Very nice grass sites. Power only. Water and dump stations included in the fee, as well as showers, if you wished.

Very nice manager. Comfort station is older, but spotless. Grounds are beautiful. It's a county park, not state.

Further down the hill are smaller sites restricted to 30 ft and under. No services, but $15. Still get to use the fresh water, dump, and shower for $15, which is a bargain in this area.

We enjoyed our stay. We camped at Matanuska River Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Great spot within an hour and a half of Anchorage. Plenty of shopping and services in Palmer. And, a nice town.
