There is a reason you have to reserve these sites so far in advance. This is one of the best, if not the best, campground in West Virginia. It's hard to go wrong with any site here. The trees are maturing so the shade will not be an issue in years to come.

This is a great campground. It is booked out a year in advance on the weekends. All roads and campsites are paved, with gravel at the campsites as well. They deliver a newspaper to you each morning. They clean out each fire pit as guests check out. You can purchase a pass for Stonewall Resort for $14/day for a family of four to use their amenities which are paddle boats, canoes, kayaks, swimming pool, fitness room, etc. We would rate this 10 out of 10 if they had more shade. They also will allow you to request a spot but they will not guarantee it. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the campground is secure. We had a great experience as there is a lot of lake access for swimming and boating within steps of all campsites.

We stayed in area 2, which was more shaded than other areas. The only dump station was difficult to get to (we were in site 205) - we had to back down the main gravel road to access it when we were leaving (the turn was too sharp and steep from our exit road) and it was a high traffic area on a Sunday with others leaving as well. The roads are all gravel and dusty. The camp store was large, well-stocked and homey. The entire campground is very large - you have to drive to the beach area and the pool from your sites. Security drives through often during the evenings and quiet time after 11 pm is enforced. They offer watercraft parking at the campground beach (no docks).

This is a great park. Every lot has a concrete pad. Our picnic table was broken and the staff promptly switched it out. The Mountain Lakes Amphitheater is a part of this park and had weekend concerts. We could hardly hear the concert from our site, which was in the Ballpark section. This was a great section but had a steep incline when leaving the area. We were able to get Wi-Fi outside our travel trailer, but not inside. You can hardly hear the interstate from the camp. The pool (part of the Days Hotel adjacent to the site) was not crowded and very clean.

All sites are very shaded. We were there on opening weekend so the owners were doing a lot of work getting the campground ready for this season. The restrooms and showers are clean but dated.
