Harpers Ferry / Civil War Battlefields KOA, Harpers Ferry, West Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2011 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

This is a good campground for easy access to the battlefields/parks, rafting and tubing. as well as the Charlestown Raceway and Casino. We had a pull-thru site, and found the sites easy to get into, but not very spacious. Some had concrete patios, ours did not and the ground was unlevel, which made it hard walking at dusk. Facilities were very clean, great pool, nice game room and well-stocked store. Lots of activities for kids (indoor basketball court, 18-hole mini-golf, bounce house), and nice coffee bar. We would camp here again but would request site with concrete patio so as to avoid turned ankles. We camped at Harpers Ferry / Civil War Battlefields KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Elk Neck State Park, North East, Maryland

Date of Stay: June, 2008 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

The State Park is a beautiful place to camp. The full service sites on NorthEast loop were easily accessible (we had a pull through), and were situated to provide privacy at your site. The only problem we encountered was at the check-in booth: we have a large (tall) rig and couldn't fit through overhead clearance in the check-in lane but didn't know until we were already in line. We had to back the rig up and pull through an alternate lane. The clearance on the check-in lane could be better marked. Otherwise it was a great facility and we plan to return on additional weekends. We camped at Elk Neck State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Gettysburg Campground, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2008 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

We camped with a family group (3 trailer sites plus a cabin, 15 people). The staff were very friendly and ready to meet our needs, and the facilities were well-kept and clean. The activity areas are also well-maintained and kept the kids busy. The campground is easily accessible to the historic sites. We plan to return later this year and again next year. We camped at Gettysburg Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Delaware Seashore State Park, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

Date of Stay: May, 2008 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We camped here in late May, during a race weekend at Dover Downs so the campsite was very full. The weather was extremely windy so we couldn't do much outside (cooking or relaxing), but had easy access to the highway for touring the coastal towns. The site was tight for our larger (38') rig but we had an end spot so were able to maneuver. It is a good campground if you want access to the beaches or need a place to stay while visiting the area, but not much to do at the campground itself. We camped at Delaware Seashore State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
